Good Cop Bad Dog - Recap

The scene opens with Mitchell walking in the house to find Cam sick on the couch. He is upset because he has great seats to Lady Gaga tonight and now Cam is sick. At Claire and Phil’s house, Claire is arguing with the kids and Alex and Haley tell that Luke and Manny are trying to walk in on them when they are changing. Luke says that they do it in Europe all the time. Phil comes in on the conversation and tells the kids silently that he loves them. Claire asks what he is doing and he says that he is telling them that he loves them even though she is yelling at them. Claire says that she is tired of being the Bad Cop in the parenting and says that Phil is always the Good Cop. She tells that the bathroom is disgusting and tells that Phil is going to hound the girls to clean up and she is going to take the boys out go-carting.

Claire goes out in the living room and tells Manny and Luke that she is going to take them go-carting and they ask if they are in trouble. Claire guarantees that they will have a fun time. Haley and Alex try to leave and Claire reminds Phil that he agreed to hound the girls to clean the bathroom. He tells that he said so. Claire plays it off that she is the cool one and tells that Phil is in charge of this one. Claire takes the boys and Phil asks how it usually starts. Meanwhile, Jay walks in her kitchen and a guy is there. He says that Gloria has a big heart and there is always some transient in his house. Gloria says that the guys name is Guillermo and Jay says for Gloria to keep it under $100. However, Gloria says that Guillermo only wants business advice and needs 10 minutes of his time. She says that she wants to lie down next to a man who is caring and it doesn’t necessarily have to be Jay. He agrees to talk to Guillermo.

At Mitchell and Cam’s, Mitchell is cleaning up Cam’s Kleenexes and Mitchell says that they could both go to the concert, but that is not going to happen. He plays around and asks what their options are. Cam asks if Mitchell is asking if Mitchell wants to go to the concert without him and Mitchell says that he would never. Cam calls Mitchell back and he thinks that Cam is allowing him to go, but Cam only wants a pudding cup. Mitchell is upset to be missing out on the ticket. Back at Jay’s Guillermo gives his presentation and Jay tells that he is lying with his information about the product he is trying to pitch to him. Jay tells him that his dog is chewing his furniture and Guillermo tells that he will give a “bad dog” treat to the dog. Jay is confused why Guillermo is giving a treat. He says that it is bland and that the “good dog” treat is beacon. He gives a “good dog” treat and the dog runs away from it. He spills the dog treats everywhere and says that his presentation is over. Gloria tries to tell him that it was great, but Jay is not convinced.

Mitchell calls Claire and asks what he should do because he has Lady Gaga tickets. She says that she will take them because she is being cool. They are getting settled into their go-carts and she lies to the instructor that Luke and Manny are 13 years old. Mitchell says that Cam is sick and she asks how Cam takes care of him when he is sick. They show a clip of Cam carrying Mitchell to the bedroom. She tells that Mitchell needs to do things that he wants to do and not worry what others think of him. She says that she has to put Mitchell on loudspeaker. She takes off in her go-cart and hits Manny and Luke into the barrier. At Claire and Phil’s, Haley and Alex tell Phil that they are done cleaning the bathroom. He is happy and they leave to go to the movies. However, when Phil goes upstairs he finds that the bathroom wasn’t clean. He runs out and jumps on the hood of the car. They get scared and turn back around. At Jay and Gloria’s, Jay tells Guillermo the truth and says that he needs a different product. Guillermo cries and says that five years of his life are for nothing. He says that he will put the dog in the car. Gloria tells that she is mad at Jay and hears that Guillermo starts the car. She runs outside.

At the racetrack, Claire tells the boys that they are having fun and they can order anything. Manny tries to order grilled chicken and Claire tells him to live a little. She tells that they are going to get milkshakes. Luke tells that he doesn’t want a milkshake, but didn’t tell Claire on the fact that she might say something. In the van, Luke says that he is going to be sick and Claire tells that they are having fun and that Luke can’t get sick. Meanwhile, Haley and Alex are cleaning while Phil duct-tapes their laptops closed. Alex says that she is starving, but Phil doesn’t car. Haley unclogs the drain and starts to dry heave. Phil tells her that it is just hair, but goes out of the bathroom and dry heaves as well.

Mitchell spends all day nursing Cam and finds him asleep and the bottle of cough medicine empty. Mitchell whispers and says that he wants to go to the concert. Cam doesn’t say anything and Mitchell takes it as a yes. Jay asks Gloria how her friend is and Guillermo says that he appreciated the helpful advice and said that he has to move in with his sister and get rid of the dog. There is a bark and Jay realizes that Gloria took the dog. He says that if Manny sees it they are dead. Manny comes in and is excited. Gloria tells that the dog is not their dog. Jay tells her to text him the address. Claire gets home and says that Luke puked all over the van. Phil calls Haley and Alex to clean it and they complain that they haven’t eaten anything. Claire tells the girls to eat something and tells Phil that they need to go back to her being the bad cop and he being the good cop. They agree. Mitchell is about to go out to the concert when Cam comes in. He asks where Mitchell is going and says that he took care of him. Cam feels betrayed, but then falls asleep again.

Jay takes the dog to its home and realizes that it doesn’t want to go. He decides to take it back to Manny and tells Gloria not to say a word. Gloria says that they are the way they are because they have to be. Later that night, Cam wakes up to find Mitchell sitting next to him. He is happy that he is there, but sees that he has a flashing necklace on under his shirt. He tells that he is blinking and Mitchell tries to explain, but can’t.
