See You Next Fall - Recap

The scene opens with Alex giving her Valedictorian speech to her junior high school class. Luke looks around and asks where Claire and Phil are. The show flashbacks to four hours earlier where Claire and Phil are showing their attention to the fact that Alex gets to give a speech. Claire tries to get Alex to go out with her and do girl stuff, but she wants to practice her speech instead. Phil says that Claire freaks out and cries with every milestone and she holds it in until a big emotional outburst. He is supposed to go to Vegas with his friends and he says that he needs her to freak out and cry now so that he can go. Hes says that he doesn't want to have to tell that to a bunch ex-male cheerleaders.

At Jay and Gloria's, Jay is trying to get inside the gated community of his neighborhood, but his remote won't work. He calls and tells that his clicker won't work. Manny gets on the phone too and asks what is wrong with Jay's heart. Jay tells them to push 9 and let him in and tells that they can't do it with both of them on the phone. Both Gloria and Manny hang up. This has happened before. Meanwhile, Mitchell and Cam get Lily out of the kiddie pool and Cam says that he can't believe that Alex is going to High School. Mitchell says that he was there when she was born. Cam tells that Mitchell wouldn't last on a farm and watching babies be born. Cam slips into the kiddie pool and Mitchell laughs. However, Cam is not happy.

Alex is in her room working on her speech when Claire comes in. She is trying hard to spend time with her and tells that Haley is driving her to get early. Phil asks if Claire is alright and tries to make her cry. Jay comes into the house and Gloria asks if he got the bread. He says that he was stuck outside the gate for 10 minutes until it opened. Gloria sees that his eye is droopy. Manny says that he doesn't like the look of it and searches on the internet. Jay doesn't tell them that he really just got Botox and now it is drifting. Back in Alex's room, Haley hears Alex reading her speech. She tells that she can't say the speech because no one is going to talk to her after it. Alex says that she is fine with that.

At Jay and Gloria's, the family gets there and Claire tells that they have to leave in 5 minutes. She tells Luke to stop trying to get a ball out of the pool because he might fall in. Cam says that Mitchell will laugh at him for it too. Mitchell tells the family about the pool incident and they all show concern for Cam. Mitchell tells that they all would have been laughing. Claire picks up the dog and Phil tries to get Claire to cry again. Manny talks to Luke and says that he can't believe that they will be graduating soon, but Luke is busy trying to move the ball with his mind. Mitchell talks about Cam and Gloria tells him to stop because Cam is coming. Cam walks into the glass door and they hold back a laugh. However, when he walks into the screen door they all laugh besides Gloria and Phil. Cam realizes that it is a Pritchett thing. They see Jay's face and tell that they need to take him to the hospital. Jay comes clean to Gloria and she tells that everything is fine. However, the family realize that he got Botox.

Alex and Haley get to the school and Haley takes her speech away. However, she has duplicates. Haley warns her. Back at Jay and Gloria's, the gate won't open and Claire freaks out. Phil smiles because he knows that he will be able to go to Vegas now. They try to push the gate open. Cam says that he can fix this all he needs is a paper clip, olive oil and a ribbon. Jay calls Cam "MaGayer" and asks what the plan is. He says that the paper clip is to connect the wires, the oil is to lubricate it and the ribbon is for Lily because her hair is driving him nuts. Gloria comes out with a tandem bike and says that Claire and Phil can ride it. Phil tosses Claire over the fence and tells that someone needs to help him.

Back at the school, Haley tells that she read the rest of her speech and says that she can't say it. She says that everyone has their stuff and Alex asks what kind of "stuff" Haley has and Haley tells her that she has to go to summer school and doesn't even know if she is going to get into college. Haley tells that she is going to be an outcast even though she is smart and pretty. Alex is shocked that Haley thinks that she is pretty. Claire and Phil peddle when suddenly the chain breaks. Back at Jay and Gloria's, Cam is trying to open the fence and Mitchell tells him to be careful. Manny comes out with a paper mask that will allow Jay to cover up the side of his face. Gloria says that she is disappointed in him and Jay says that he did it because in his head, he is in his 40's and doesn't know the many in the mirror. The gate opens and they get in their cars. Luke says that he opened it with his mind.

Claire and Phil realize that the chain is broken and Claire says that they have to make it by foot. Claire breaks down and says that they are loosing Alex and Phil says that Haley doesn't hate her and Claire makes Phil cry too and he tells that he doesn't want to go to Vegas anymore and they stop a truck of Mexicans and Phil speaks his Spanish, but they speak English. They get to the school, and Luke asks where Claire and Phil are. Gloria sees them climbing and falling and Cam laughs. Mitchell tells that he lost credibility. Alex changes her speech and Haley is proud of her. Afterward, Alex says that she was invited to a party when Claire offers to go out. Haley says that she is hungry. They hug her and tell that she is back. She immediately changes her tune and tells that she is not hungry anymore.
