Modern Family: The One That Got Away

Jay wants nothing more than to have a quiet birthday out fishing on the lake, but the family take that as him wanting a big celebration, and in their frantic scramble to put everything together, Claire and Mitchell wind up trapped in the yard of their childhood home; Phil runs into his old college nemesis while at the mall with Gloria and Lily; Cameron gets himself into some hot water at the bakery, and the kids frantically do some creative editing on grandpa's birthday video, all of which leaves Jay with a headache.

Recap

The scene opens with Phil and Luke laughing at a birthday card that Phil is going to give Jay. However, Claire tells them that they are not going to give Jay that card. She says that everything is planned and Phil says that he got the bottle of Merlot to go with it. Claire asks if Haley and Alex have the video project that they were thinking of making for Jay. They tell that they just have to edit it. Claire says that she is giving Jay a recreation of a picture that was taken when Claire and Mitchell were kids. Mitchell comes over already dressed in a sailor outfit. Meanwhile Jay is at home getting ready to go out and go fishing when Cam comes over with Lily. Cam say that he wanted to have Gloria spend time with her, but in reality, Cam was tired of Lily from her crying. Gloria says that she has to go to the mall and Cam tells Lily not to cry and Gloria offers to take her. ..
