Phil On Wire - Recap

The scene opens with Gloria telling Jay to stop snoring. However, it is not him, it is the dog. Gloria asks why he doesn’t let Manny into their bed. He tries to avoid the conversation, but Manny is on the floor and tells him to talk about it now. Meanwhile, Cam tells Mitchell that he is going on a Juice Fast. It is clear that Mitchell is not happy with that because Cam doesn’t react well and goes through different phases. Cam gets rid of all the junk food in the house and Mitchell says that they have a charity event at his boss’s house and says that he thinks that it is not a good idea. Cam thinks that Mitchell wants him to fail. Mitchell decides to go on the Juice Fast with him.

At Phil and Claire’s, Luke and Phil are watching a tightrope walker and Luke answers the door. Mitchell gives the bag of junk food and Luke grabs it and runs up to his room. Phil decides that he wants to pursue his dream of walking on a tightrope. He practices and Luke is hyper from the chocolate. Phil says that they are going to go airborne this afternoon. Haley and Alex find out that they are going to be in the same class together. Claire says that it is going to be a good idea. Gloria shows Jay that the dog is chewing up her shoes. Jay says that the dog is not doing anything bad. Gloria says that he is coddling her and he denies it. However, she sees that the dog is in the shower with him and he tries to still deny that he coddles her.

Claire drops off the kids and tells Haley and Alex to work it out. The security guard tells Claire to move it on. Haley says that she should have said a comeback, but Claire says that she is going to take the high road. She drives off and remembers what she should have said. The Juice Fast brings the worse in Cam and he is over-emotional about everything. Cam rips off the cupboard door and Mitchell says that Cam should stay home, but Cam asks why he hates him. Mitchell says that he is a little unhinged. Haley and Alex get home and Claire says that she will get their schedules changed. She says that she thought that Haley and Alex were going to be great together. Phil asks what is going on and Claire says that the girls are going to make the choice to stay in class together thinking that it is their idea. Phil shows that he has wire walking shoes, but Claire says that they are Jazz shoes. He tells Luke to get the camera and he wakes up fast and says that he wasn’t sleeping.

Upstairs, Haley and Alex agree to trade their skills and run down and tell Claire that they are going to give it a try. They hear Phil trying to balance and not succeeding. Gloria sees the dog is chewing on her things and tries to get her to chew on Jay’s shoe. She refuses and Gloria demonstrates. Jay and Manny walk in on her. The next day, Rose from the principal’s office calls and says that Alex was letting Haley copy off of her. The security guard gives Claire a ticket. Claire says that the security guard that she is nothing and rips up the ticket. Luke gets back home from puking at school. He admits to eating all the chocolate that Mitchell brought over. Luke says that Phil needs to put the wire hire and he says that Luke is a genius. Haley and Alex come outside and Claire tells them not to try to make excuses for their behavior. However, she doesn’t have any room to talk because she is handcuffed with rip ties.

Mitchell and Cam are at the event and Mitchell tells Cam needs to eat something and he calls Mitchell a temptress. At Gloria and Jay’s, Manny asks if the cookies are real cookies and says that the cupcakes that were for the dog looked like real ones. Gloria comes in and says that it should be in the shower and says that the dog is always on the bottom. Back at the charity event, Mitchell’s boss talks about how he lost a baby seal to trash in the water. Mitchell breaks down and cries. Cam takes him outside. Mitchell runs into the water and Cam tells him that he needs to eat something. Cam tells that he is doing the Juice Fast for him. Everyone watches and Mitchell’s boss says that Mitchell is going to only be a “work friend”.

In the car, Claire says that they were not their best self and they get home. Phil is actually walking on the tight rope. Claire realizes that she was telling her kids what to do instead of showing them. She says that it is a challenge. Jay puts the dog out of the bedroom and Mitchell is working out with Cam. Later, Cam and Mitchell are in the kitchen of Jay and Gloria’s and are eating the cupcakes that are for the dog. Lily asks why they are eating and they tell that they need to. The episode ends.
