Phil is at a doctor’s clinic for a checkup. The doctor believes he is okay, but wants him to have a couple of tests done, and will call him if he finds anything wrong. The doctor asks him if he is exercising, and about his realty business. Good time for buyers, but sellers are going through a rough patch – he reports. Later at home, when Mitch and Cameron come back from a convention, Cameron is proud of his partner. Mitch has won a trophy at an environmental law convention, and Cameron is touched by the passionate speech. Alex is surprised as well. Mitch tells her it is no Oscar, but he actually thinks it is. While Alex claims she is proud of her uncle, she is actually pretending a bit.

Later, when Jay complains about his lousy computer mouse to Gloria, her reaction is aghast. She has dreamt about a black mouse soaked in blood, and in her country, it means bad luck. Not before long, Manny arrives dressed like a golfer. Clearly, Jay is not impressed, but Gloria tells him he looks just like an old golfing legend. And at the door is the Gloria’s black mouse according to Jay. It’s her ex-husband. He has missed Manny’s birthday and wants to take him to a horse racing track. Gloria insists Jay goes with them, because the last time she left Manny alone with his father, they ended up in a strip club.
Later, when Mitch comes back home to find Cameron placed his fishing trophy next to his, he tells him how proud they can both feel. Although the age group was 12-17 in Cameron’s competition, he feels what a couple of winners they are. However, Mitch tells us off the story he disagrees with that comment from Cameron. Meanwhile, Phil is unable to find his razor blades. Fifteen years back he won a lifetime supply of twin-blade razors in a checkers TV show, and Claire is exasperated he still has to depend on them. Luke reports that Phil’s doctor had called. He wanted to see Phil right away. Desperate, when he calls back, Phil finds the doctor is on a flight to London. He is worried about the suspicion his doctor had about a tendon near his right armpit, and complains to Claire that in the last checkup, the doctor did not touch him much.
Meanwhile, at the horse track, Manny’s father tries to explain why he is a better bettor than Jay. He can see a horse’s soul through its eyes. When he says he was probably a horse in some previous life, Jay mutters which part of a horse…
Meanwhile, when Mitch returns home, he finds Cameron has mounted his trophy amply well to surpass the height of his own trophy. He blames him for having to plunge his success story just after his, and is sniding at his competing attitude. He fetches a mount, and puts his trophy on it. Later when Gloria comes in home, she coaxes Hale to learn Spanish. However, she is unwilling to put in effort. Gloria complains about what is wrong with Americans – you have to speak their language, but they will never learn yours. Later, when Phil comes down the stairs, he expresses his anxiousness about being unable to contact his doctor. Gloria remembers her dream, and throws herself into believing something bad is about to happen. But she keeps telling him she thinks he is okay.

At the horse track, Manny’s dad has helped him win 60 bucks. He had put in just 2. Manny’s impressed. Meanwhile, when Spanish lessons are on, Phil is sinking into health worries. When Hale complains she cannot concentrate with her dad in there, he gets up, kisses her and tells her she is a very beautiful and intelligent woman. She should be that way. Hale is flabbergasted at such behavior. When Alex arrives at Mitch and Cameron’s place to fetch her mobile, she expresses exactly what Mitch was feeling about Cameron’s trophy placed beside his. However, that made Mitch realize that he was acting like a 14-year-old girl.
Later, as Luke plays video games with old Walt, he loses, claiming he cannot concentrate with Phil staring at him. Phil says he loves him, and Walt hopes that was meant for just Luke. When Luke leaves to take a leak, Phil asks Walt how he feels about death. He is 85, death is his roommate. Phil tells him – he has heard from his doctor he has a 60% chance of dying. Walt replies doctors said he would have died 10 years back. However, now he has to empty his catheter bag after hearing a beep on his watch. Claire manages to cheer Phil up although he tells her he has a 70% chance of dying. Phil on camera, tells us how nice he feels about Claire’s company – she could be an airhostess… but she could also be a cop.
Turns out that Jay’s horse has won at the horse track, and he has proved Manny’s dad wrong. However, that horse gets disqualified, and the winner is Manny’s dad’s horse. Later, Jay apologizes to him saying he should not have called him Dr. Dolittle or belittled him in front of Manny. Later he tells us it doesn’t matter – he and Manny have their own thing going. Meanwhile, as Mitch tries bringing Cameron’s multiple trophies out of the garage, he discovers a black mouse in the box. Not before long, Cameron finds him kicking the box around, shouting ‘gross!’

Everyone arrives at Phil and Claire’s because Gloria sent out news that Phil is ‘getting’ bad news from his doctor – she did not say he has got bad news. When Phil arrives from upstairs, he faces a barrage of questions. However, he soon discovers that his doctor was calling only to ask about a real estate listing. The episode ends.
