The scene opens with Phil is planning to take wife Claire and daughter Haley for his presentation at office, and wants both of them to participate. While his wife is willing to help without being over enthusiastic, Haley wants to know why she should help if she is not getting paid. Claire promises to answer that by texting her later, and not before long, slips on broken eggs. Luke is testing his project equipment that is supposed land eggs safely from a height of one floor. Claire is exasperated and comments why Luke could not use egg crates, and he should clean up the mess right now. Down comes Alex insisting that the equipment is her intellectual property. Hale comments Alex will remain manless if she keeps talking like that.

Back at Jay’s place, Gloria thinks Manny’s egg dropping project will be the best in his class. However, Manny is worried about Luke fetching a better grade. He has already beaten him in a previous project, in which he alleges Claire helped Luke. Jay, furious at the possibility, calls up Claire and announces that no one’s helping Manny, and he hopes neither are other parents. Claire is quick to deduce that since Jay is saying he is not helping, it is only because he is. Phil doesn’t know what to say, but tells us Claire’s always been the son Jay never had. Gloria comments she doesn’t know why they are so competitive. And Mitch feels his father never reciprocated to playing hardball with him.
Not before long, Claire is apparently just showing interest in her son’s project – like all parents do. So she cannot go for Phil’s seminar. Why doesn’t he ask Gloria? When he calls Gloria, Jay wants to know why Phil is not taking Claire for the seminar. Jay bets it’s because she is helping Luke with his project. Meanwhile, Luke and Cameron are about to interview a pregnant mother for adopting her baby. Mitch comments – it’s kind of like a first date – but opposite actually – you do not want to have sex, but you want a baby. In the interview, Mitch is getting a little argumentative with the child-bearing mother, and Cameron sides him up to not do so. If she shows him a goat and says that is Uncle George, it is Uncle George. They should be doing whatever’s required to get the baby.
Meanwhile, Phil is rehearsing his seminar with Gloria and Haley, who is backstage support. Gloria looks like she is wanting to help, but Haley is not up for helping with too many details. Nor before long, the two of them are leaving for a beauty salon, but promise to be back in time. On the way out, Phil hands a red gift card to Haley – one of the attendees is going home with a brand new mouse pad. Meanwhile at Claire’s place, she is yet to complete Luke’s project, and Jay comes looking for a screw in an iron he lent to Phil. Claire is quick to hide the project work, and pretends she is not helping, but Jay knows better. He claims Manny’s egg carrier is so good that he left it from the roof, ran downstairs, and it was yet to touch the ground.

At Mitch’s place, the mother of the baby is directing how the furniture should be arranged – after all her baby will be in the house with the fathers. So the ambiance needs to be perfect. Mitch is getting livid, but Cameron wants him to control his agitated mind. Not before long, the mother discovers a keyboard, and wants to hear the dads play something – she wants to make sure her baby will grow in a musical household. After they sing a duo with Cameron on the keyboard, the mother thought Cameron was the singer – but Mitch sounds great! Actually Cameron was a little off-pitch.
Meanwhile, Gloria and Haley come out of the studio, and they are already getting late for the seminar. Not before long, Gloria discovers her car has been towed away because she parked it at the wrong place. And what’s worse, she thinks she can’t get a cab because she is Latino. Phil is livid, and starts introducing himself at the hall, but he cannot do that straight either, because Gloria’s constantly buzzing his phone. Phil manages somehow in the beginning, but soon the red gift card is nowhere to be found in the hall – it’s in Haley’s bag! The seminar is a mess, and Phil is hardly able to attract any investment. Meanwhile, Claire tries to make a deal with Alex, but she is not giving up her design.
Meanwhile, the mother with Mitch and Cameron’s adopted baby to be, is impressed. She tells them they should be expecting good news pretty soon because she does not think she has to interview anyone else. The three hug each other, and Mitch is getting a celebration drink. Cameron wants to sing again – a celebration song this time. Hearing the lyrics about losing the biggest part of oneself, the mother realizes what she is about to lose. Depressed at the new realization, she calls off giving up her baby to another couple. Later, while Cameron thinks that the singing got him to realize he can actually sing, Mitch points out it cost them the baby – which Cameron seemed to want more than him.

Gloria and Haley arrive at the seminar hall – everyone’s left, and everything’s over. She is sorry and Phil is being discreet. However, Gloria wants him to yell at her – that’s what loved ones are supposed to do, but she ends up doing most of it herself. Later, when Jay and Claire end up competing vehemently against each other with egg carriers, it leaves Luke and Manny exasperated. Jay and Claire realize how they have made the boys upset, and decide to take them home to do it on their own. Later at night, Haley’s talking to a boy in her class, thinking about whom she got her feet colored. However, Alex thinks she is talking with her, she wants to share how weird she feels about being rude to their mother. However, Alex realizes Haley’s not listening when she tells her to take a picture of her feet to be sent to her classmate.
