Adrian: The stove.
Lieutenant Gitomer: Over here. It's in the kitchen.
Adrian: No, I mean my stove. I think I left it on.
Sharona: It's okay. I,m uh, checked it as we were leaving.
Adrian: Are you sure? Did you turn the knob?
Sharona: Yeah.
Adrian: The little knob, though.
Sharona: I turned all the knobs. The stove was off, Adrian | Sharona: Do you want me to drive all the the way back to the city and check the stove?
Adrian: No.
Sharona: I mean, is that what you're telling me to do?
Adrian: Would you? Could you? That would be great. | Sharona: Now pull your twisted self together, concentrate, and be brilliant. | Uniformed Police: So that's the famous Adrian Monk?
Cop: Yeah, the living legend.
Lieutenant Gitomer: If you call that living. | Stottlemeyer: Is the press here? Who's here?
Deacon: The girl from channel 3.
Stottlemeyer: The pretty one?
Deacon: No, the other one. | Lt. Deacon: Look who's here. The defective detective. | Miranda St. Claire: Is this a joke? Someone tries to kill my husband and you send in Rain Man? | Adrian: How tall are you?
Stottlemeyer: Six feet.
Adrian: No, really.
Stottlemeyer: Five eleven. | Sharona: I love this part. He does this Zen-Sherlock Holmes thing. | Stottlemeyer: This isn't police work. This is... this is vaudeville. | Sharona: You're going straight to hell.
Adrian: I am in hell. | Miranda St. Claire: Do you lie awake at night thinking of ways to disrupt my husband's campaign?
Warren St. Claire: Now, Miranda...
Adrian: No, ma'am, I lie awake at night and try not to think at all. | Miranda St. Claire: How can you investigate anything? I'm told you're germophobic, afraid of the dark, heights, crowds, and milk.
Sharona: We're working on the milk. We're making progress on milk. | Adrian: Are you registered to vote?
Sharona: I never vote; it just encourages them. | Sharona: We gonna let it go?
Adrian: Hell, no.
Sharona: What are we going to do now?
Adrian: We're going to follow the money. Mm! Ah! I always wanted to say that. | Miranda St. Claire: You've been married, right?
Adrian: Yes, uh, I have.
Miranda St. Claire: Then I don't have to tell you every marriage is stressful. That's why they call it "marriage." | Miranda St. Claire: Are you accusing me of something, Mr. Monk?
Adrian: I don't know. Uh, are you guilty of something? | Miranda St. Claire: Last week, if I could have I would have taken that bullet myself. You have to believe me.
Adrian: Mrs. St. Claire, I have to listen to you. I don't have to believe you. |

Episode Goofs |

In the board room, the back of the campaign map board that Monk and Gavin swing back and forth varies between being blank, and being covered with a counterweight. | In the theme song, Monk's door is unlocked when he leaves his house, but a person with OCD, which he had, would never leave his door unlocked. | Just before St. Claire's bodyguard is shot, St. Claire and Miranda were moving to shake hands with his supporters on his left-hand side. When the shooting actually happens, St. Claire and Miranda switch positions and move to the other side of the lectern. | When Monk was working as a police officer, Stottlemeyer and the rest of the police force referred him as a detective, but in San Francisco, where the show is set, Monk would be called inspector and not detective. | Stottlemeyer says "He was stabbed; she was shot." Jason was shot, Nicole was stabbed. |
