now i only read the very brief synopsis on the main page, but this is about as big a rip off as i've seen in awhile. why didn't they just call it Angel: Again. isn't this at least the second rip off of Angel?

No kidding. I don't know if anyone else has read Stephenie Meyer's Twilight, but the summary for this show sounds very similar to the book's plot.

I was just reading that five minutes ago and Angel immediately sprang to mind.

'Angel' vet runs CBS' 'Moonlight'
David Greenwalt knows a few things about vampires who, um, moonlight as private investigators.

The co-creator of The WB's "Angel" has been recruited to serve as executive producer/showrunner on CBS' more-than-slightly-similar fall drama "Moonlight," boosting that drama's bloodsucking bona fides in the fan communities.

That might explain it. It does sound pretty much like Angel.

I can't believe "Close to Home" was replaced by this crap. Oh well I'll still tune in. I like to laugh at ripoffs.

i dont think its a rip off of angel. there are many diferences:

Alex's past doesnt have as much angst as angel's
Alex wont turn evil if he "gets a happy"
Alex's vamp form isnt a hideous monster.
Moonlight isnt suprenatural like Angel is.

also, from the teasers, vampires in moonlight arent based on the "literary rules"

Just saw the first episode.

It was ok. Not as cheesy or LifetimeTV4women as that PI/Vampire show.

More like Dresden Files, only not as good and I'm still pissed they canceled it. SciFi can suck on a urinal cake.

It's the first episode though we might learn that he had some dark secrets about him, but he does like a genuine good guy.

He does have the same taste in cars like Angel. He does have a temper too (he beat up
that guy bad in the end).

So was that professor a real vampire or only pretending? If he was a real vampire, damn he was weak.

Beth looks like she will be a "help" to Mick and a love interest at the same time (kind of like
Angel and Cordelia but much later). However, he does seem to be for the moment a one man job machine he has a connection with a mortician, medical examiner?

my mom hates it. she finds it confusing with the flashbacks, and i TRIED to tell her what TV guide said about Mick's siring, but she said i was guessing and making stuff up =/
she also hated the previews for next week because "gee, if he's gonna bite her during hte season, htat just blows it all" =_=

i on the other hand like it. and i think the preivews are just like mick's imagination, he's dreaming about that or something (otherwise why be in a bathtub with rose petals and cloths on? O_o

probably not, because he was REALLY surprised when Mick vamped out on his ass. he's just one of those cult leader people, whereas the guy the NT he's the psyco. (figured that out earlier)

Actually impressed (most of the time) by Sophia Myles' American accent. So weird to hear her. Then again, you guys seem to have inherited Michelle Ryan, too.

HEY GUYS
I think angel set a new standard, selectively taking from the canon of those old earlier stories (Dracula, all those Anne Rice books and the movies that came along after them)
I think moonlight is just the latest place in the evolution of the vampire myth that we all find so fascinating.
I am glad there is an Angel connection in the production team, its shaping up in afresh new angle, glorious to look at and amusingly quirky.
