Built in the first half of Henry 8th reign the tower gate house is a perfect example of a Tudor gatehouse. The building was the creation of Henry 1st Lord Marney, who died in 1523 and his son John who continued the work. The scale of the building is testament to the ‘one upmanship’ of the time with members of the royal court encouraged to build bigger and grander property’s to assert their status. Thought to be haunted by it’s former resident’s, who will the Most Haunted team meet on their investigation tonight.
