The NCIS team investigates when the body of a naval officer missing for 2 years turns up on the bottom of a lake.

Gibbs and the NCIS team reluctantly allow the notorious private detective, who located the body, to assist in the investigation as long as he shares information. Fueling the search for the missing man is a one million dollar reward posted by his wealthy family. But when a bullet is found in the car, the missing persons' case turns into murder.
