Naruto Shippuuden: The Movie

Demons that once almost destroyed the world, are revived by someone. To prevent the world from being destroyed, the demon has to be sealed and the only one who can do it is the shrine maiden Shion from the country of demons, who has two powers; one is sealing demons and the other is predicting the deaths of humans. This time Naruto's mission is to guard Shion, but she predicts Naruto's death. The only way to escape it, is to get away from Shion, which would leave her unguarded, then the demon, whose only goal is to kill Shion will do so, thus meaning the end of the world. Naruto decides to challenge this "prediction of death".

1 :01x01 - Homecoming

Naruto Uzumaki returns to his village of Konoha after a two-and-a-half-year training journey with Jiraiya. He is reintroduced to his peers, who have advanced at least to Chunin rank, unlike Naruto who is still a Genin. Elsewhere, two members of the organization Akatsuki head towards the village of Sunagakure to capture Gaara, who has since become the Kazekage, the village leader.

2 :01x02 - Akatsuki Makes Its Move

Jiraiya tells Kakashi Hatake that Akatsuki's plan to collect the tailed beasts is underway. Because of the Demon Fox inside him, Naruto is in danger any time he leaves the village, so Jiraiya relinquishes Naruto's training to Kakashi, who can ensure his safety. Kakashi offers to give Naruto and Sakura a test to see how far they have improved. Meanwhile, the Akatsuki members Deidara and Sasori arrive at the entrance of the Sunagakure. They discover that Yura, their sleeper agent, has already cleared the guards.

3 :01x03 - The Results of Training

Kakashi challenges Naruto and Sakura with the bell test, in which they must forcefully take from Kakashi two jingle bells using whatever means necessary. Sakura and Naruto both demonstrate their newly acquired skills. At Sunagakure, Deidara reveals his ability to manipulate exploding clay. He takes to the skies aboard a giant clay bird and begins his aerial assault by lobbing exploding clay spiders onto the guards, instantly killing them. As soon as he makes it to the Kazekage building, however, he finds Gaara there waiting for him.

4 :01x04 - Jinchuriki of the Sand

Naruto and Sakura both realize that even though they have vastly improved, they are still no match for Kakashi's superior techniques, and decide to resort to more unconventional means. They win the challenge by threatening to spoil the ending of Kakashi's new graphic novel, forcing him to cover his ears and shut his eyes. Meanwhile, Deidara and Gaara begin their battle. Deidara finds a formidable challenge in Gaara's abilities to control and manipulate sand.

5 :01x05 - As the Kazekage...!

Deidara sees that subduing the Kazekage is not as easy as he thought. He hurls exploding clay at Gaara to no effect, as Gaara can quickly summon a shield of sand around him with relative ease. Gaara then commands his sand to attack Deidara who has no choice but to try to evade. Gaara's sand eventually catches up with Deidara and crushes his arm.

6 :01x06 - Quota Cleared

Deidara is determined to capture the Kazekage. Unfazed by the loss of his arm, he unleashes a massive clay bomb onto the village. Gaara is able to deflect the bomb by using his sand to create an enormous shield over the village. However, this leaves him open to a sudden attack, and he inadvertently uses sand that had been seeded with Deidara's clay to defend himself. Deidara then detonates the clay-infested sand, which knocks Gaara unconscious. Deidara captures him and flies away.

7 :01x07 - Run, Kankurou

As Deidara carries an unconscious Gaara out of the village, Gaara's older brother Kankuro chases after them. At the village entrance he discovers that all the guards there have already been killed. Upon catching Deidara and Sasori, Kankuro initiates his Puppet Technique by summoning his puppets Karasu, Kuroari, and Sanshouo. Sasori sees this as an opportunity to demonstrate his skills, and he allows Deidara to go ahead so that he can battle Kankuro alone.

8 :01x08 - Team Kakashi Deployed

Kankuro's attacks are all nullified by Sasori's scorpion-like tail. He eventually pierces Kankuro with his tail, inflicting him with a slow poison. Kankuro is puzzled at how easily Sasori counters his fighting style. Sasori reveals that he himself used to be from Sunagakure and that Kankuro's puppets are his own creations. In response to the Akatsuki assault, Sunagakure sends a distress call to Konoha.

9 :01x09 - The Jinchiuriki's Tears

Kankuro is brought back to the village but he is feeling the effects of Sasori's deadly poison. The village's medics are helpless arriving at a cure. Baki decides to seek help from the village's elders, Chiyo and Ebizo. Meanwhile, Konoha receives the emergency message from Sunagakure. Tsunade chooses to send Kakashi, Naruto and Sakura to respond to the Sand's need. Along the way, Sakura learns for the first time that Naruto's body contains the demon fox.

10 :01x10 - Sealing Jutsu: Illusionary Dragon Nine Seal

Deidara and Sasori arrive at the secret Akatsuki hideout. The Akatsuki leader gathers his followers and they begin the ritual to extract the One-Tailed Shukaku from Gaara. At Sunagakure, Kankuro's condition is worsening and Chiyo claims that even her expertise is not enough to counter Sasori's poison. At Konoha, Tsunade foresees the difficulty of Team Kakashi's mission and orders Team Gai to back them up.

11 :01x11 - The Medical Ninja's Pupil

After traveling for three days, Team Kakashi arrives just in time to save Kankuro. Using the skills she acquired from her apprenticeship under Tsunade, Sakura is able to extract the poison and create an antidote. Kankuro regains consciousness and gives Kakashi a piece of cloth from Sasori's outfit, allowing Kakashi's ninja dogs to track the Akatsuki member.

12 :01x12 - The Retired Old Lady's Determination

Team Kakashi heads out to Akatsuki's hideout along with Chiyo. On the way, Chiyo tells them about the Tailed Beasts. Meanwhile Pakkun heads out to Team Guy and informs them that they are quite close to the Akatuski hideout. The Akatuski send out Kisame and Itachi to stop Team Guy and Team Kakashi respectively.

13 :01x13 - A Destined Meeting

The battle between Team Gai and Kisame begins, while Kakashi explains the danger of Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan to the rest of his team and reveals what he's discovered to be its weakness. Gai's team is quickly subdued leaving Gai to fight Kisame alone. Kakashi leads the attack against Itachi with Naruto following close behind, but Naruto is stopped when his allies vanish leaving him alone to face three Itachis.

14 :01x14 - Naruto's Growth

The battle between Gai and Kisame gets into full swing. Gai bring outs his nunchaku to compensate for Kisame's sword, but takes a beating from Kisame's water attacks. Gai has to resort to his ultimate attack to even the score. And Neji takes his chance to break free Kisame's water trap. Meanwhile, Naruto realizes he is caught in an illusion and recalls his training with Jiraiya to dispell Itachi's illusion. When Naruto starts to apply his knowledge, Itachi remarks on Naruto's improvement.

15 :01x15 - Hidden Sphere - It is Named...!

The two battles continue from previous episode. Naruto was released from Itachi’s Genjutsu by Chiyo and Sakura after his failed attempt. Gai opens the sixth gate and defeats Kisame using Morning Peacock. Distracted and immobilized by Kakashi’s shadow clone, Itachi took a direct hit from Naruto’s Great Ball Rasengan. The Konoha shinobi then find out, to their surprise, that they have not defeated Itachi or Kisame, but Yuura and an unknown person in Akatsuki’s cloaks.

16 :01x16 - The Secrect of Jinchuuriki

Kakashi's and Gai's teams both figure out that their battles with the doppelgängers were set-ups to delay them from coming to Gaara's rescue. Granny Chiyo reveals that in attempts to control the power of the tailed beasts they were binded into human hosts called Jinchuuriki and that the human host dies when the beast is extracted — increasing the urgency of saving Gaara. Kankuro is awake and joins a meeting of the Sand council where we also learn some more history of the Sand. Both teams stop to rest since their battles have taken their tolls and in prepation for the battles to come. Akatsuki sends Zetsu to dispose of the doppelgängers bodies.

17 :01x17 - Gaara dies!

Team Gai and Team Kakashi both finish their breaks and go on towards the Akatsuki lair. Naruto shows intense passion and is in a hurry to reach Gaara. Chiyo notices this and Kakashi explains to her that Naruto is also a Jinchuriki and knows the pain Gaara has lived through. Chiyo explains that she was the ninja who sealed Shukaku in Gaara, in order to protect the Sand Village. Meanwhile, Akatsuki has finished extracting Shukaku from Gaara. Team Gai and Team Kakashi finally meet in front of the sealed entrance to the Akatsuki lair.

18 :01x18 - Break in! Button Hook Entry

Team Gai and Team Kakashi find out there is a barrier protecting the Akatsuki hideout, being generated by 5 forbidden tags in the area. After preparations, Team Gai removes the tags and disables the barrier allowing Team Kakashi to enter the hideout. Meanwhile all the Akatsuki members have left the hideout except for Deidara and Sasori, who are supposed to take care of the intruders.

19 :01x19 - Traps Activate! Team Guy's Enemies

Team Gai fights with exact clones of themselves, a trap set off by their removal of the barrier tags. Deidara takes Gaara's body outside of the cavern, followed by Naruto and Kakashi. Chiyo and Sakura stay behind to fight Sasori.

20 :01x20 - Hiruko vs. Two Kunoichi

Sakura and "Baa-Chan" begin their battle with Sasori. We learn that Sasori's formidable body is really a puppet and that he is really inside it. Sasori expresses his desire to add baa-chan and Sakura to his puppet collection of empty shells, so that the number of puppets under his control will number 300. Sakura and Baa-Chan successfully evade Sasori's poisonous attacks, and Sakura breaks his puppet shell, revealing the true Sasori - we are to see his face in the next episode. As an aside, Naruto and Kakashi start their battle with Deidara, who reveals they have killed 2 other jinchuuriki (demon possessed ninja) other than Gaara. And that Gaara was (obviously) killed when they extacted the ichibi (1 tailed demon)

21 :01x21 - Sasori's Real Face

With his puppet destroyed, Sasori revels himself to Chiyo and Sakura, looking no older than when he left his village twenty years ago. As a further bit of nostalgia, he produces a summoning scroll and calls forth the Third Kazekage, whom Sasori has made into a puppet. Using its weapons, which are even more dangerous than Hiruko's, Sasori is able to catch Sakura in a poison gas cloud. Meanwhile, Kankuro, Temari's team, and Ebizo make their way to the Kaktsuki hideout.

22 :01x22 - Chiyo's Secret Skills

Sakura manages to escape the poison gas cloud by using an explosive scroll on herself. Chiyo calls forth the "Mother" and "Father" puppets that Sasori created to fight him and the Third. They manage to hold down the Third for awhile until Sasori releases the Third's secret technique: Iron Sand. Meanwhile, Team Guy are having trouble fighting the clones and showing exhaustion from the battle. Naruto and Kakashi manage to avoid Deidara's clay bombs and keep up with him.

23 :01x23 - Father and Mother

The Iron Sand stops both puppets from moving. Chiyo's right arm (which she had turned into a puppet) gets clogged and broken as well. Chiyo thinks back to the past and remembers how Sasori created and controlled his first puppets, Father and Mother. Sakura urges Chiyo to use her again as her puppet. With Chiyo's help, Sakura avoids the columns formed by the Iron Sand to attack her.

24 :01x24 - The Third Kazekage

Sakura and Chiyo continue their battle with Sasori, while Naruto and Kakashi follow Deidara, and Team Guy fights their clones. Sakura remembers her training with Tsunade when she was taught to observe an enemies weakness and dodge their attacks. Sasori attacks with an Iron Sand pyramid and prism, but Sakura is able to fend them off, causing a cave in. Sasori then uses an new technique to attack with randomly-growing iron spikes, landing a hit and poisoning Sakura. With a final attack of the Third Kazekage's puppet, Sasori attempts to kill the weakened Sakura, only to find that she still has the strength to shatter and destroy his puppet.

25 :01x25 - Three Minutes of Life and Death

Sakura reveals that she took an antidote against Sasori's poison which will make her immune to it for three minutes, forcing herself and Chiyo to end the battle quickly. Meanwhile, Naruto and Kakashi continue their pursuit of Deidera. Deidera attempts to split up Naruto and Kakashi by creating a swarm of explosive jumping spiders out of his clay and has them pursue Kakashi. Kakashi makes a shadow clone as a decoy and the spiders, mistaking the shadow clone for the real Kakashi, detonate harmlessly. Kakashi then catches back up with Naruto and reveals a plan. Sakura and Chiyo ready themselves for the battle with Sasori, who reveals that he made himself into a human puppet.

26 :01x26 - 10 Puppets vs 100 Puppets

Sasori is barraging Chiyo and Sakura with fire and water, forcing them to hide behind rocks. He then attempts to kill Chiyo with his blades, but Sakura pulls him in and punches him, shattering his body. Instead of dying however, Sasori's broken pieces come together and reform. To deal with him, Chiyo summons the Ten Puppets of Chikamatsu. In reponse, Sasori takes out his final one hundred human puppets. Sakura and Chiyo hold their own against Sasori's puppets, destroying many in the process. Chiyo then gives Sakura a chakra-sealing orb, which she throws at Sasori. The orb then transforms into a giant maw that pins Sasori into the rock wall, preventing him from using chakra. Just when they though the battle was over, Sakura sees Sasori rise behind Chiyo, preparing to land a sneak attack and stab her with a sword. At the last second, Sakura acts as a human shield and gets stabbed with a poisoned katana through her abdomen.

27 :01x27 - The Impossible Dream

Chiyo injects an antidote into Sakura and manages to stab Sasori in his only living part, his heart, using the Father and Mother puppets. With Sasori immobilized, Chiyo heals Sakura's wounds using her resurrection jutsu. As Sasori dies, He awards Sakura for defeating him, telling her where he planned to meet with one of his spies who had been working undercover as one of Orochimaru's subordinates. Meanwhile as Kakashi and Naruto are pursuing Deidara, Kakashi reveals his plan by activating his Mangekyou Sharingan.

28 :01x28 - Revival of the Beasts

Team Guy fight continues as they fight their respective clones. Neji explains to each member of the team that they are systematically growing more and more weak as the fight drags on. Their clone being non-human remain as strong as they were when they were formed. Lee, who refuses to accept defeat realizes that the only way for them to defeat their clones is to become stronger then they were when they first started fighting. After a flashback about their training sessions they all remember their training motto. "Stronger then I was yesterday". The memory gives them the strength that they need to overpower and defeat their clones.

29 :01x29 - Kakashi! Open your Eyes!

After Team Guy finishes their battles, they make their way to Team Kakashi. Sakura and Chiyo also make their way towards Naruto and Kakashi. Kakashi reveals his Mangekyo Sharingan, which he uses to warp space around Deidara, hoping to suck him into an alternate dimension. However, he only succeeds in catching Deidara's arm, severing it. Kakashi's second attempt fails when Deidara dives into the trees. While Deidara has his guard down, Naruto manages to separate him from his clay bird, having his clones take the beak, which contains Gaara's body, to safety. Naruto, meanwhile, launches a vicious attack on Deidara, only to discover that he is beating up a clay replacement. In his angered state, Naruto's fox chakra begins to emerge. The two tailed form of the nine tailed fox emerges.

30 :01x30 - Esthetics of a Moment

While Naruto is taken over by the nine-tailed fox's chakra, Kakashi uses the seal Jiraiya gave him to suppress it. Team Guy finds Deidara thanks to Neji's Byakugan. Deidara seemingly self-destructs while attempting to kill his attackers by creating a massive explosion after eating the remains of his chakra infused clay bird. The explosion is stopped by Kakashi, who is able to send it to a different dimension. Sakura cannot bring Gaara back to life, and the group mourns Gaara's death. While the group mourns, Chiyo moves over to Garra's body and uses the life-resurrection technique.

31 :01x31 - The Next Generation

Chiyo finishes her life-resurrection technique with Naruto's help. As she is about to finish her technique, she passes down to Naruto and Sakura her wisdom for the future. A revived Gaara finds himself surrounded by shinobi from Sunagakure celebrating his return. After Gaara discovers that Chiyo has passed away, he asks everyone to pray silently for Chiyo's sacrifice.

32 :01x32 - The Return of Kazekage

Deidara survives his battle and begins to search for his missing arm. Meanwhile, Zetsu and Tobi, who wishes to join Akatsuki, search Sasori's remains for his ring. Deidara later finds the two searching for his own ring and attacks Tobi in a comical fashion. The leaf ninja leave Sunagakure after their victory, and Danzo gives Sai instructions for his new team, Team Kakashi. The leaf and sand ninja pay their respects at Chiyo's grave, and Gaara and Naruto shake hands before parting. Guy gives an exhausted Kakashi a piggyback ride home, oblivious to the looks of the other ninja.

Picture Drama: Shippuu! Konoha High

Shippuu! Konoha High School! (“Shippū! Konoha Gakuen Den!”) is an OVA Gaiden (alternate history) made by Studio Pierrot and was released with the Naruto: Shippūden DVD 7 in Japan on February 6, 2008. This fan-made OVA is not animated: it is narrated through a series of still cells, based on the still cells that were used for the second Naruto: Shippūden ending.

33 :02x01 - The New Target

Teams Kakashi and Gai return home to Konoha. As Kakashi rests in the infirmary, Sakura tells Tsunade about the information Sasori gave her as a reward for defeating him. Sasori had a meeting scheduled with a spy from within Orochimaru's ranks in 10 days. 4 days have passed since Sakura received this information, and now Naruto and Sakura need to recruit a new team member to go and investigate. As Naruto searches Konoha for a willing recruit, he meets some of his old friends. Just as Choji agrees to help, Shikamaru, Choji and Naruto are attacked by a Konoha shinobi unknown to them, Sai.

34 :02x02 - Formation! New Team Kakashi

Naruto, Choji and Shikamaru attempt to capture and interrogate Sai, but Sai withdraws after insulting Naruto. Concerned that the Kyuubi could fall into Akatsuki hands, the village elders challenge Tsunade's plan to send Naruto out of the village without the still bedridden Kakashi. Tsunade promises to protect Konoha with her own life if Naruto is captured, but is still forced to compromise with Danzo by adding Sai to Team Kakashi. She also temporarily replaces Kakashi with ANBU member Yamato and warns him to keep an eye on Sai. Naruto and Sakura finally meet their new team members, and Naruto is immediately angered to see Sai is a part of the team.

35 :02x03 - An Unnecessary Addition

Yamato takes temporary leadership of Team Kakashi while Sai insults both Naruto and Sakura. While preparing to set off, Sai receives an envelope from a Root shinobi containing secret orders from Danzo, and Sakura consults with Tsunade. Jiraiya then meets with Tsunade and Yamato in Kakashi's hospital room to brief Yamato on the demon fox within Naruto, detailing the "demon fox's cloak", and revealing a scar he got from Naruto when the fourth tail formed. Finally the new Team Kakashi set off on their new mission, to intercept an Akatsuki spy and gather information about Sasuke.

36 :02x04 - A Fake Smile

The new team Kakashi heads out for the Heaven and Earth bridge. Sai, Sakura, and Naruto come to blows after just 5 minutes on the same team due to Sai making fun of Sasuke. Therefore, Yamato decides they need to improve on teamwork and uses Mokuton to create a wooden cage threatening to lock the team up unless they behave. Given an ultimatum between being locked up or spending the night at a hot springs, the team chooses to visit the springs to improve team cohesion. Naruto still despises Sai despite this effort, and several insulting remarks from Sai worsen team relations.

37 :02x05 - ~~ Untitled ~~

Sakura sees Sai drawing by the river and finds out that Sai has artistic talent but has never given titles to anything he ever drew. Naruto and Sakura begin to realize the reason behind Sai's repulsive personality. After the hot springs, the team heads off to the bridge to meet the spy. Yamato is suspicious of traps so they go off the main road into the forest. Camping for the night, Yamato then creates a two story house by again using his Mokuton jutsu. Inside this house, the team formulates their plan.

38 :02x06 - Simulated Combat Training

Naruto is paired with Sai for the Buddy team of two, over his and Sakura's objections, while Sakura is assigned to support Yamato. Yamato conducts a simulation of the spy meeting with himself as the spy to gauge Naruto and Sai's abilities and teamwork. After Naruto makes a mistake when attacking Yamato, Sai immobilizes him and goes on to capture Yamato alone. Naruto is angry with Sai for not acting as a comrade would, but resolves to work together with him if doing so will help bring Sasuke back. Sai reveals to Sakura that he has no emotions, and little understanding of them. The group then prepares to head to the bridge.

39 :02x07 - Heaven and Earth Bridge

Yamato disguises himself as Sasori after creating a wood replica of Hiruko, and goes to meet the spy. The spy turns out to be Orochimaru's right-hand man, Kabuto Yakushi, who reveals the location of Orochimaru's current hideout to Yamato. Orochimaru interrupts the meeting, appearing to attack Kabuto, and while it initially appears that Orochimaru has come after Kabuto, Kabuto attacks Yamato and reveals that he is truly loyal to Orochimaru. Orochimaru calls out Naruto, Sakura and Sai from where they are hiding and observing the meeting, and prepares to fight the team.

40 :02x08 - Kyuubi Unleashed

Immediately after Yamato signals Naruto and the others out to the bridge where Orochimaru and Kabuto are waiting, Naruto's chakra begins to boil with the chakra of the Nine-Tailed Fox. Slowly, Naruto grows more tails as Orochimaru taunts him and makes him even more angry. Meanwhile, Yamato remembers Jiraiya speaking of how many tails he has seen Naruto grow. Jiraiya explains more about what happened and more about how Naruto acts when he's in his Nine-Tails form.

41 :02x09 - Top-Secret Mission

Naruto continues to get even more enraged and easily counters Kabuto's attack, flinging him away. Naruto's counter throws Kabuto into Sakura, knocking her unconscious. Orochimaru continues to watch Naruto become more enraged, eventually destroying the Bridge of Heaven and Earth. As the bridge collapses, Sakura slides off the edge. Sai draws a bird to fly, but chooses to follow Naruto and Orochimaru instead of saving Sakura. Yamato saves her at the last second, and creates a wood clone to catch up to the battle. Eventually the fourth tail appears, allowing the vile chakra to completely control Naruto's body, forming him into a miniature Nine-Tailed Fox.

42 :02x10 - Orochimaru vs Jinchuuriki

Naruto, in the four-tailed state, begins attacking Orochimaru with incredible force, devastating the surrounding landscape and preventing Sai and Yamato's wood clone from approaching him. The majority of Orochimaru's attacks prove to be ineffective, but Naruto also fails to kill Orochimaru as he regenerates from any injuries he sustains. Meanwhile, Kabuto advances toward Sakura and Yamato, deducing that Sasori has died. Orochimaru finally manages to strike Naruto with a sword blade from his mouth, and Sakura reacts in horror when she sees Naruto's four-tailed state.

43 :02x11 - Sakura`s Tears

Kabuto comments that Naruto's state is a consequence of his desperation to bring back Sasuke. Sakura begins to cry and approaches Naruto but is injured when his attention turns to her. Yamato uses the mokuton jutsu to bind Naruto before he does any more harm. Kabuto heals Sakura, reasoning that the Konoha ninja are not Orochimaru's enemies because they are also fighting Akatsuki. Yamato uses the abilities of the 1st Hokage to forcibly return Naruto to his normal state. Meanwhile Sai confronts Orochimaru with a message from Danzo. Orochimaru responds by piercing Sai with Kusanagi.

44 :02x12 - Facts of the Fight

Yamato uses the first Hokage's chakra to suppress the demon fox's chakra and Naruto returns to normal, but with severe injuries. Sakura begins to heal him, but notes that medical ninjutsu has little effect on his wounds. Orochimaru's sword is revealed to have only pierced one of Sai's clones. The real Sai emerges, talks to Orochimaru and gives him a letter from Danzo. Sai then leaves with Orochimaru and Kabuto but Yamato's wood clone stays close on their trail. Naruto comes to his senses and wonders what happened but Sakura decides not to tell him the truth. They reach the meeting spot, picking up the picture book Sai left behind. Yamato infers that Danzo seeks to destroy and remake Konoha by collaborating with Orochimaru.

45 :02x13 - The Result of the Betrayal

Kabuto creates a fake corpse that resembles Sai, containing hidden traps to slow down Yamato's clone after sensing it. Naruto hasn't completely recovered from using the Demon Fox's chakra, and Yamato says that he will be left behind if he cannot keep up. Naruto is determined to finish his mission and not slow the team down. However Team Kakashi is forced to take a break when it's clear that Sakura has not fully recovered from her own injuries. Yamato then uses this opportunity to talk to Naruto alone and reveals to him that the one who hurt Sakura was Naruto himself. Naruto is shocked by what Yamato says to him.

46 :02x14 - The Unfinished Page

Naruto finally makes sense of the destruction he witnessed around him earlier. Yamato tells Naruto not to rely on the demon because Naruto is strong enough to withstand the demon's terrible chakra. Sai discovers the loss of his book while resting. Team Kakashi browse Sai's book, and they notice that the book (which can be read from both ends) contains different paths of two boys who meet in the middle. Each page has the boys fighting someone new, each time collecting the opponent's armor and weapons into the next page. The pages where the two boys would meet are unfinished. Orochimaru's group reach their base, not realizing that Yamato's wood clone trailed them there. Sai gets a glimpse of Sasuke's silhouette and eyes and discovers that he is the man Naruto and Sakura are looking for.

47 :02x15 - Sneak In! Den of the Poisonous Snake

Sai receives a chilling glare from Sasuke's Sharingan that frightens him. Sai gives Orochimaru a bundle with information about Konoha's ANBU. Yamato gives Sakura and Naruto seeds with his chakra that enables him to track them inside the lair, and reveals that he was able to track Sai because he put a seed in Sai's clothing and food during the visit to the hot springs. Kabuto locks Sai in a room, and the boy summons a bingo book from scrolls he carries. Yamato uses a jutsu to open a tunnel into Orochimaru's hideout, and he, Naruto and Sakura travel to Sai's room undetected.

48 :02x16 - Bonds

Yamato and the team enter Sai's room and confront him while Kabuto makes his way there as well. Sai tells Team Kakashi that not only was he to help with Konoha's destruction but also act as a spy against Orochimaru. Yamato reveals the secret of "Root"- its members were trained like Kirigakure's students in that they had to kill their friends so as to eliminate their emotions. Sakura returns Sai's book to him, remarking that he still has emotions because he treasures it. Sai then tells the group about his bond with his brother. Finally the team decides what to do about Sai's betrayal outside the lair. In doing so, Naruto tells the group about his own bonds and about how far he's willing to go to bring Sasuke back.

49 :02x17 - Important Person

Kabuto fights Team Kakashi and frees Sai. However, Sai, who intends to learn more about his bond with his brother through Naruto's bond with Sasuke, betrays him. Captured, Kabuto gives a vague description of Sasuke's location to the team. Leaving Yamato's wood clone to watch over Kabuto, Team Kakashi enters Orochimaru's hideout and splits up to find Sasuke.

50 :02x18 - The Picture Book's Story

As Team Kakashi continues their search for Sasuke, Naruto suddenly collapses due to his previous fight with Orochimaru. As Naruto wakes up, Sai begins to reveal more about his brother, but Orochimaru suddenly attacks them. Sakura and Yamato come to Naruto's aid against Orochimaru, while Sai continues the search. Just as Sai finds Sasuke, Yamato finds Sai's bingo book with Sasuke listed as a target for assassination.

51 :02x19 - Reunion

As Team Kakashi continues their search for Sasuke, Sai approaches Sasuke's room and awakens him. Shaken by the image of Sasuke's Sharingan from earlier, Sai attempts to restrain him. A large explosion occurs and Sakura, Naruto and Yamato catch up. At first Sakura tries to restrain Sai in order to find out his true objective, but she stops, stunned at seeing her former comrade. Contrary to what the rest of the team assumed to be his mission, Sai tells them that he wishes to bring Sasuke back to Konoha.

52 :02x20 - Strength of Uchiha

Sasuke begins to attack Naruto, but Sai restrains him only for them both to be blown away by Sasuke's Chidori Nagashi. Sakura charges at Sasuke, but Yamato intervenes and winds up being stabbed by Sasuke's unique blade infused with his Chidori. The Nine-Tailed Fox tempts Naruto with its power, but he refuses it. Sasuke sees this using his Sharingan, appearing in Naruto's mind. The Nine-Tails says that Sasuke's chakra reminds him of Madara Uchiha, then Sasuke suppresses the Nine-Tailed Fox's chakra. Before the Nine-Tailed Fox returns to its cage, it warns Sasuke not to kill Naruto, saying that he will live to regret it forever.

53 :02x21 - Title

Orochimaru and Kabuto convince Sasuke to withdraw with them, and Naruto weeps over his failure to return Sasuke to the village, but Sakura reassures him that they will bring Sasuke back together. Naruto's team reports to Tsunade about the results of the mission, and Tsunade is greatly angered over Danzo's scheme, particularly his leaking classified information to further it. Sai asks Danzo to allow him to remain with Team Kakashi, and Danzo reluctantly agrees. Sai goes on a mission with his team, having come to see them as his friends.

Naruto Shippuuden 2: Bonds

When a mysterious group of Shinobi make a surprise attack on Konoha, the village is left in ruins. Only then does it becomes apparent that another shinobi world war could become a reality. Meanwhile, Sasuke who left Konoha to avenge his clan by killing his brother Itachi, appears for a second time in front of his friends.

54 :03x01 - Nightmare

Naruto's been having nightmares about the release of the Nine-Tail's power. Afterward, Kakashi informs Naruto that he has special training for him that will make him strong quickly. They are cut off by Team 10, who have also come to visit. Sai lunches with them and, trying to make friends by using nicknames, angers Sakura by calling Ino "gorgeous" after concluding that women do not like to hear how they really are.

55 :03x02 - Wind

Kakashi is released from the hospital and begins Naruto's training program. Naruto learns that he has Wind-style chakra. Yamato helps by setting up the training field with his special jutsu. Naruto also learns that he can use his Multi Shadow Clone jutsu to speed up his training, since whatever the clones learn, the original user learns upon the clone's dispersal. Naruto and his mass of clones each take a leaf and attempt to slice it in half with wind chakra as the first step to creating his new jutsu.

56 :03x03 - Squirm

Naruto and his clones continue to work on chakra nature manipulation by slicing leaves. After some struggling, Naruto approaches Asuma, who is also a wind type, for advice, after which Asuma gives Naruto's clone a few pointers. Naruto is subsequently able to slice a leaf in half. Asuma and Yamato head out with their teams on new missions. It is revealed that Asuma is the Third Hokage's son and that he is in a relationship with Kurenai. Meanwhile, on a hill overlooking a burnt village, four cloaked figures discuss the awakening of the Fire Country by eliminating the Leaf Village.

57 :03x04 - Deprived of Eternal Sleep

Naruto, Sakura, Sai and Yamato head out for a new mission near the Fire Temple. When the other party fails to show up at the rendezvous point, the team gets separated and Naruto stumbles upon one of the four hidden tombs they came to protect. Due to a misunderstanding, he fights one of the monks-in-training from the Fire Temple, Sora, who also uses wind chakra based techniques. After the confusion, the monks and Team Kakashi travel to the Fire Temple, and Naruto recognizes it from his nightmare.

58 :03x05 - Loneliness

The temple monks explain that the tombs hold the loyal bodyguards of Fire Country's feudal lord. Naruto observes Sora sparring with other monks and becomes offended upon realizing he is holding back. Naruto challenges Sora, but just as the matter is about to get serious, another monk stops him. Naruto realizes Sora is despised by the other monks as he was himself and wishes to befriend him. Naruto visits Sora again and observes him practicing his wind jutsu in earnest, hoping to get strong enough to avenge his father. They later return to the temple to receive news that another tomb has been robbed.

59 :03x06 - New Enemy

Tsunade suspects that Danzou is plotting something and orders an investigation of him. Team Kakashi, Chiriku and Sora notice the coffins moving on their own, but fail to intercept them. The coffins emerge on a cliff, where the leader of the enemy ninja orders his subordinates to deal with their foes. The ninjas turn the area into a maze of rocky canyons and pits, full of deadly traps. The team members are separated from each other, and begin facing off against the enemy. Yamato speculates that the ninja may have orchestrated the theft in order to target someone on his team.

60 :03x07 - Mutability

Team Kakashi begins facing off against the enemy shinobi. Yamato eludes his opponent, Fudo, by faking his death. Sora, unwilling to look for Naruto, goes off on his own. Back in Konoha, Danzo reveals that he is aware that he is being watched by Tsunade's ANBU. Naruto fights F?ka, whose kiss is fatal and shows her ability to use earth, fire, water and lightning jutsus. Sai manages to escape from his attacker, Fuen, and later saves Sakura from an enormous spider, becoming injured in the process. Sora then hits upon the enemy leader, Furido, and it is revealed that he was the group's target.

61 :03x08 - Contact

Furido taunts Sora until Sora unleashes his true powers, before informing Sora that he is planning to use the four corpses to save the Land of Fire. Naruto continues his fight with F?ka and learns that she can use all five elements. F?ka manages to kiss Naruto and begins draining his chakra. Realizing that Naruto is in trouble from extra-sensory perception, Sora rushes to rescue him. Sakura, Sai and Yamato arrive to help but are trapped by Fudo and Fuen. F?ka drains Naruto's chakra until she begins drawing on the Nine-tails's, which is too unnatural for her to successfully absorb. The enemy team retreats when Chiriku brings reinforcements.

62 :03x09 - Teammate

Asuma's team returns from its mission. Team Kakashi returns to Konoha as well, with Sora replacing Sai on the team. Naruto tries to show Sora around Konoha but Sora goes his own way. Sora's insults precipitate a brawl with Kiba and Choji, with Naruto and Rock Lee joining in. Shikamaru and Asuma stop the fight. Later Asuma tells Sora he knew Sora's father, who is revealed as one of the Guardians involved in the coup attempt. He also shows Sora his chakra blade attack. Furido and the other body snatchers begin their attack on the Kohaku Clan.

63 :03x10 - Two Kings

Asuma supervises Naruto and Sora's wind chakra training, and notices that Sora, like Naruto, has very powerful chakra. Tsunade and Yamato learn from Chiriku that Sora was inadvertently responsible for an incident in which the Temple of Fire was destroyed. Later, Asuma gives Sora a claw made from the same materials as his chakra blades. It is revealed that Asuma killed Sora's father Kazuma, who had planned to kill the Hokage. Furido then approaches Sora, telling him that Asuma is responsible for his father's death and passing him two "king" pieces from a Shogi set for Asuma. Danzo mysteriously disappears. Naruto approaches a furious Sora in the training grounds, who easily throws a chakra-powered kunai through a tree and destroys the stone behind it.

64 :03x11 - Jet-Black Signal Fire

Danzou is brought in for questioning after being caught meeting with a young Rain ninja. Sora confronts Asuma, and Asuma admits to having killed Kazuma. He attacks Asuma, his arm once again assuming a demonic form. Afterward, Naruto gets injured while shielding Sora from the attacks of an unknown individual, presumably from Root. Furido then approaches Sora, telling him to kill both Asuma and the Hokage to avenge his father. Later on, Naruto catches Sora going after Tsunade. Sora retreats as Shizune and a few other ninja arrive, but Naruto pursues him. At that moment, a mysterious lightning storm strikes, cutting off power to the entire village.

65 :03x12 - Lockdown of Darkness

With Konoha in complete darkness, the village struggles to defend against the four attackers who have sealed the entire village behind a barrier. The entire village is in a state of emergency. Asuma, commanded by Tsunade to follow Sora and Naruto, finally catches up to them. Asuma realizes that the four invaders plan to annihilate the entire village using the lightning powers of the corpses that they stole. The revelation shocks Sora. As Asuma leaves to help hold off the attackers, he instructs Naruto to continue pursuing Sora.

66 :03x13 - Revived Souls

Konoha's ninja fight off the revived zombie members of the Kohaku clan. The four Guardian Ninjas, Seito, T?u, Nauma and Kitane, are also revived. Asuma realizes that they are planning to use Limelight, a jutsu in which the four create a lightning blast powerful enough to destroy Konoha. Asuma sends Sakura and Yamato after the other three while he remains behind to battle Kitane, but Fuen tackles Sakura and Fudo fights Yamato. Meanwhile, Naruto catches up to Sora, but Sora runs off in search of Furido. Naruto tries to pursue him, but is assailed by Fuuka. Soon after, Sora reaches Furido, who admits that he had planned to destroy Konoha.

67 :03x14 - Multiple Death Matches

Sora refuses to let Furido destroy the village despite his grudge against Asuma and the Hokage. He is beaten up by Furido, who claims that his father had a similar flaw. Asuma gets trapped by Kitane in a force field of lightning. Meanwhile, Yamato and Sakura kill their opponents, and Shikamaru heads to the battlefield with a plan to defeat the zombies. Just as he puts it into motion, however, Fuen's barrier falls and Fudo's revival technique ends, and the zombies turn to dust.

68 :03x15 - Time of Awakening

Naruto deduces that Fuuka's secret consists of switching bodies to use each corresponding element and that her hair preserves her youth and body. Naruto damages her hair and it takes a life of its own dispensing the body, but Naruto finally kills it with a Rasengan. Meanwhile, Asuma manages to break free of the electric barrier, catch up with Kitane and defeat him in a short fight. Realizing that Kitane is no more, and that his three other companions were killed, Furido causes the 3 other ninja guardians to disappear. But Furido has a back up plan, Sora.

69 :03x16 - Despair

Furido releases Sora's seal, and tells him the truth: Sora is a pseudo-Jinchuuriki. The chakra that had leaked from the Nine Tailed Fox when it attacked Konoha 15 and a half years ago was harvested and implanted into Sora. Just then, Asuma arrives at the scene with Naruto. Asuma recognizes Furido and it is revealed that he is Kazuma, Sora's father. Yamato, Sakura, Kiba, Lee, Ino, Choji and Shikamaru also turn up. Enraged, Sora wants to destroy everything, and turns into the Three-Tailed form of the Nine-tails. However, Yamato is unable to restrain him, because he does not have the First's necklace on him.

70 :03x17 - Resonance

The chakra of the Nine-tails rages out of control within Sora, preventing Naruto and the others from subduing him. Asuma and Kazuma resume their old battle, while Kazuma justifies his actions with his duty as a pawn to the "King" of the Fire Country. Naruto is repeatedly knocked down in his attempts to restrain Sora, and the chakra seeps into him and transforms him as well. Yamato is unable to suppress the Nine-tails' chakra in both Jinch?riki, being prevented by an unknown outside force. Sora's fourth tail emerges, causing the Nine-tails's Cloak to envelop his body. He temporarily gains his own consciousness when he witnesses Naruto stab himself in the leg and successfully prevent the original Nine-tails' Cloak from emerging.

71 :03x18 - Friends

The struggle between Naruto and Sora continues. Asuma and Kazuma fight. Sai arrives, having snuck out of hospital, and binds Kazuma with an ink snake. Kazuma breaks out of Sai's jutsu and charges Asuma, but is killed. Naruto eventually reaches Sora, who manages to release the Nine Tails's chakra. Sora then leaves the village to travel the world. Asuma and Shikamaru play shogi and discuss who the king of Konoha is. Elsewhere, two Akatsuki members, Hidan and Kakuzu, appear chasing the Two Tails Jinch?riki.

72 :04x01 - A Creeping Threat

Asuma apologizes at the grave of the Third Hokage for not understanding his advice concerning what the "king" of the Fire Country is. At the hospital, Naruto and Sai recover, despite Naruto's desire to resume his training. Tsunade receives a report from Kakashi that Akatsuki is on the move. Elsewhere, Yugito Nii, the Two Tails Jinch?riki, struggles against Hidan and Kakuzu and unleashes the Two Tails, but is defeated and captured. Hidan and Kakuzu then turn their attention to the Fire Country for their next target.

73 :04x02 - Akatsuki Invasion

Naruto proceeds to the next step of his training, the cutting of a waterfall. Hidan and Kakuzu reach the Fire Temple and fight Chiriku, so as to obtain the bounty on his head. After defeating him, they move out to claim the bounty and thereafter target the Nine Tails Jinch?riki Naruto.

74 :04x03 - Under a Starry Sky

The second stage of Naruto's training continues, while Tsunade sends out twenty teams composed of four ninja each to deal with the Akatsuki members in the Fire Country. Shikamaru leaves with Asuma, Izumo and Kotetsu, whereas Ino and Choji leave with Raido and Aoba. After putting in considerable effort, Naruto clears the second stage of his training, but collapses from hunger and exhaustion almost immediately afterward.

75 :04x04 - The Old Monk's Prayer

Asuma mourns Chiriku's death, and realizes that Hidan and Kakuzu are trying to claim the bounty on his head. Meanwhile, Hidan and Kakuzu take Chiriku in for their payment. Meanwhile, Kakashi shows Naruto what the true goal of his training will be. It is also revealed that Kakashi can perform the Rasengan.

76 :04x05 - Akatsuki vs Team Asuma!

Kakashi reveals that while he knows how to perform Rasengan, he cannot combine his own lightning-based chakra. He adds that even the Fourth Hokage, who created the move, could not combine his elemental chakra with the technique, but that Naruto might be able to. Asuma sends word to other teams about Akatsuki’s location and proceeds on despite his concern about Akatsuki’s strength. Kakuzu turns in Chiriku’s corpse despite Hidan’s complaints, and says that he is partnered with Hidan because he cannot kill him. The stress of the training causes Naruto to be enveloped in the Nine-tails's "Demon Fox's Cloak", but Yamato suppresses it.

77 :04x06 - The Climbing Silver

Asuma’s team reaches the bounty station and ambushes Hidan. Izumo and Kotetsu attack Hidan, but are unable to kill him despite stabbing his vital organs. Asuma tells his teammates that if they retreat they will be killed and Konoha will be endangered. Shikamaru realizes that Asuma is considering sacrificing himself to help defeat the enemy, based on what he knows of Asuma's shogi strategy. Asuma begins fighting Hidan, while Shikamaru distracts him by forcing him to dodge Shadow Sewing. Hidan cuts Asuma on the cheek and steps into a circle of blood as Asuma uses a jutsu to engulf Hidan in a cloud of ash. Asuma then sets the cloud ablaze, supposedly killing Hidan.

78 :04x07 - Given Judgment

Asuma’s fire jutsu strikes Hidan, but much to the team's suprise, Asuma is also burned. Hidan reveals his ability: By ingesting an opponent’s blood and standing in a ritual circle drawn with blood, the "curse" links him to his opponent and all damage inflicted on him is also inflicted on the opponent. Asuma rushes at Hidan but collapses after Hidan stabs himself in the leg. Shikamaru realizes Hidan needs to be in the circle for the curse to take effect, and uses his shadow possession jutsu to force Hidan to step out of it. Asuma forces himself to stand up and beheads the restrained Hidan.

79 :04x08 - Unfulfilled Scream

Hidan’s immortality enables him to stay alive even with his head cut off, although he cannot move his body. Kakuzu sews Hidan's head back on with threads that sprout from his body. Izumo and Kotetsu try to attack Kakuzu, but he manages to grab them both by using his body threads, restraining them and suffocating them as well. Hidan, now able to move again, returns to the circle and stabs himself with the blades of his scythe; he finishes it off by stabbing himself in the chest with another spike, fatally wounding Asuma.

80 :04x09 - Last Words

Asuma collapses, mortally wounded. Shortly thereafter Ino, Chouji, Aoba and Raido appear as the team's backup. They are unable to defeat the Akatsuki members, but the Akatsuki Leader orders the two back to seal the Two Tails. Hidan and Kakuzu retreat, warning the group that they will return. Ino tries to treat Asuma, but fails, as Hidan's attacks had damaged vital organs. Asuma leaves advice for his students, mentioning that he now knows who the "king" that the ninjas Konoha must protect it. As he smokes a final cigarette, he dies of his injuries.

81 :04x10 - The Sad News

Naruto struggles to combine shape and elemental manipulation in his new technique. Elsewhere, the Akatsuki begin sealing the two-tailed beast, and the Akatsuki leader reveals that Akatsuki plans to use the tailed beasts to cause conflict, serving as mercenaries at a lower cost than the ninja of the hidden villages, replacing them and eventually taking over the world. News of Asuma's death reaches Konoha just as Naruto realizes the solution is to use two shadow clones instead of one.

82 :04x11 - Team 10

A funeral is held for Asuma, but Shikamaru does not attend it, choosing instead to sulk at home. After careful prodding by his father during a game of Shogi, Shikamaru works through his emotions, and comes up with a strategy to defeat Asuma's killers, Hidan and Kakuzu. Team 10 visits Asuma's grave before setting out for revenge, but Tsunade stops them, telling them that they need a four-man squad and backup for the mission. Kakashi then volunteers as the leader when it becomes clear Team 10 has no intention of backing down.

83 :04x12 - Target: Lock On

Tsunade tells Sakura that Team 7 will be Team 10's backup if Naruto finishes his training within 24 hours. Shikamaru quickly adjusts the team's strategy to include Kakashi. After Hidan and Kakuzu are found, Shikamaru pins the shadows of the Akatsuki pair with Asuma's blades imbued with his chakra. He uses Hidan to attack Kakuzu, but Kakuzu had secretly detached his arm during Shikamaru's attack. The arm removes the blade pinning his shadow and he dodges Hidan. Choji then attacks Kakuzu from above.

84 :04x13 - Kakuzu`s Abilities

Choji's spiked cannonball is ineffective against Kakuzu's special ability, which enables him to harden his skin with an Earth element technique. Naruto struggles to perfect his new technique within the 24-hour time limit and learns about the strengths and weaknesses of the elements in relation to each other. Kakuzu gets struck by Kakashi's Lightning Blade right through the heart, but survives and produces four masked entities from his body, one of which dies, as it had been struck by the Lightning Blade. Kakuzu then uses the masks to attack Team 10 with Kakuzu using powerful wind, lightning and fire jutsu.

85 :04x14 - The Terrifying Secret

Shikamaru realizes Kakuzu has five hearts, which enables him to survive otherwise fatal wounds, and he must be killed five times before he dies. He states that in order to be able to defeat the two Akatsuki members, he must first draw Hidan away, and uses Shadow Possession Jutsu to lead him to a forest. Kakuzu launches a combined fire and wind jutsu on Kakashi, then pins him down and prepares to take his heart. At the same time, Hidan apparently cuts Shikamaru on the cheek and prepares to use his ritual to kill him by stabbing himself.

86 :04x15 - The Genius of Shikamaru

Hidan stabs himself, but instead of mortally wounding Shikamaru with his curse, he destroys another one of Kakuzu's hearts. Shikamaru fails to behead Hidan, so he pins him down with his shadow possession. It turns out that the vial contains Kakuzu's blood. Kakuzu is temporarily incapacitated. His other hearts return to his body, with one sacrificing itself to become his heart. Just as Kakuzu is about to finish them off with another fire/wind jutsu, Team 7 arrives just in time to stop the attack with a wind/water jutsu combo.

87 :04x16 - When You Curse Someone, You Dig Your Own Grave

Sakura and Sai leave to help Shikamaru. Hidan attempts to break out of Shikamaru's weakened hold on him, but Shikamaru uses a new technique to pull the explosive tags he set up onto his body. Shikamaru then opens a trap hole he had prepared, and reveals that his plan was to bury Hidan beneath the Nara family woods. He has a vision of Asuma entrusting his "will of fire" to him, then uses his lighter to ignite the tags on Hidan. Meanwhile, Naruto readies the jutsu he has been developing, Wind Style: Spiraling Shuriken.

88 :04x17 - Wind Release: Spiraling Shuriken

Naruto attacks Kakuzu with Spiraling Shuriken, but his attack dissipates before he can land a hit. Meanwhile, Shikamaru uses an explosive tag to fill in the hole containing Hidan's broken body and still screaming head. He is joined by Sakura and Sai, and they head back to the others. Naruto again creates a Spiraling Shuriken, this time sending a shadow clone carrying it as a decoy. Kakuzu takes the bait, and Naruto lands a direct hit with a second Spiraling Shuriken, obliterating both of Kakuzu's replacement hearts and tearing his body apart.

89 :05x01 - The Cost of Power

Kakashi finishes off the wounded Kakuzu, and they return home. At Asuma's grave, Shikamaru tells Kurenai he will teach her unborn child. He plays Shogi with his father and reveals what Asuma told him: the king that Konoha must protect is the next generation. After studying Kakuzu's corpse, Tsunade tells Kakashi not to let Naruto use Rasen-Shuriken again because it will permanently destroy his ability to manipulate chakra. Meanwhile, Orochimaru learns of Hidan and Kakuzu's defeat and sends Kabuto to meet with a woman named Guren.

90 :05x02 - Shinobi's Decision

An ANBU sends a message to Konoha moments before he dies, having discovered what may be Orochimaru's current hideout. Meanwhile, Orochimaru has Guren initiate a battle among a large number of experimental specimens with the survivors being used for a future operation. Naruto is warned not to use Rasen-Shuriken due to its extreme risk, and Sasuke meets a boy called Y?kimaru. Kakashi is ordered to go on a reconnaissance mission with Shino, Kiba and Hinata. Naruto is reunited with Jiraiya, who offers to train with him again.

91 :05x03 - Discovery - Orochimaru's Hideout

Guren takes twenty-one survivors from the hideout and leaves to meet with Orochimaru. Team Kurenai and Kakashi arrive at Orochimaru's hideout, only to discover that it has already been abandoned. Guren uses her Crystal Style jutsu to kill sixteen of her charges when they try to revolt. The other five align themselves with Guren. Meanwhile, Naruto tries to find a ranged attack to use, and Jiraiya wants to train him in synchronizing jutsu. Unfortunately, Naruto does not get along well with Gamariki, with whom he is supposed to synchronize.

92 :05x04 - Encounter

Kabuto and Y?kimaru travel to a lake, where Kabuto attempts to draw out a mysterious creature. Guren branches off from her men to find Orochimaru, who has Sasuke fight an army of Sound Ninja as training. Sasuke defeats them all, but declares that he wants to kill Itachi more than them. Naruto continues his training by summoning Gamakichi and Gamatatsu, but still doesn't understand the concept of connecting to another person's heart. Kabuto and Y?kimaru arrive at the Hot Springs Village where Naruto and Jiraiya are.

93 :05x05 - Communicating Hearts

Naruto continues his training with Gamakichi and Gamatatsu until Jiraiya leaves to research the Akatsuki more. Naruto heads back to Konoha to continue training. Tsunade receives one of Shino's insects, which has been crystalized due to Guren's technique, and sends it to the forensics department. Rinji, the one in charge of Guren's men, learns about the presence of Kakashi's team through a bat that he sent out. Back in Konoha, Naruto learns that neither Gamakichi nor Gamatatsu can use Water Style ninjutsu.

94 :05x06 - Raining All Night

Kabuto entrusts Y?kimaru to Guren. Naruto tries to teach Gamakichi and Gamatatsu how to use Water Style ninjutsu, as Kiba discovers that the enemy may be using bats. Tsunade decides to send out Yamato, Sai and Sakura to assist Kakashi. Y?kimaru falls ill and Guren and him are forced to spend the night in a cabin. In the morning, Guren finds Y?kimaru playing an instrument that his mother gave him. After giving him a crystalized camellia that will never die as long as Guren lives, Guren and Y?kimaru head back out.

95 :05x07 - The Two Amulets

Guren and Y?kimaru arrive back at their base. Team Kakashi moves out but Shino stays behind to try and breed more insects immune to the Crystal Style jutsu. Guren heads back out and Y?kimaru gives her a memento of his mother, as Gamatatsu finally learns how to use Water Style. Naruto runs into Sai and learns about his mission with Team Kakashi; Naruto talks Tsunade into letting him join. Team 8, led by Kakashi, prepares to attack Guren's men as Naruto tries to master a new jutsu before heading out on his mission.

96 :05x08 - The Unseeing Enemy

In the woods, Team Kurenai fights Guren's men. Hinata and Kiba get stuck in a smoke screen prepared by Kigiri and Hinata is seriously injured by Nurari's attacks. Kakashi is stuck battling Gozu, and isn't able to finish him off because Gozu has the upper hand in speed and force. Just as Rinji and his team are about to kill Hinata, Kiba, and Akamaru, they are forced to retreat by Shino and his insects. Meanwhile, Y?kimaru remembers his mother.

97 :05x09 - Labyrinth of Reflections

In Konoha, Tsunade discovers they have an enemy using Crystal Style. While on his mission with Team Kakashi, Naruto meets Y?kimaru once again and talks to him. Guren puts a gigantic Crystal Prison over the forest trapping Team Kurenai inside. Guren then prepares six Crystal Clones and attacks Team Kurenai with them. Hinata defeats one clone but is locked up in a Crystal Prison by another. Team Kakashi reaches the borders of the giant prison and Naruto uses his new Jutsu with Gamatatsu to bust a way in.

98 :05x10 - The Target Appears

Team Kakashi arrives to help Team Kurenai and manage to retrieve Hinata. Guren decides to retreat and rendezvous with her men at their base. After Hinata is broken free, Kakashi tells Sakura and Sai to stay with her until she's better, as the others chase after their enemies. At Guren's base, Kabuto arrives and takes everyone to the lake from before. He straps Y?kimaru to his machine and Guren creates five Crystal Pillars around them. As the machine amplifies Y?kimaru's chakra, the Three-Tailed Beast begins to surface.

99 :05x11 - Raging Tailed Beast

Y?kimaru summons the Three-Tails and immobilizes it while Guren tries to capture it, but it manages to break free and attack. Kakashi tells Naruto to investigate the lake, while they find Rinji and the others. Rinji and his men prepare an ambush, but Hinata, Sakura, and Sai arrive to avert it. Naruto summons Gamakichi and Gamatatsu and approaches the Three-Tails, where they see Y?kimaru and learn of his allegiance to Guren. Trying to save Guren, Y?kimaru tries to suppress the Three-Tails once more, before managing to escape with her.

100 :05x12 - Inside Mist

Guren is rendered unconscious and relives her past as Naruto is caught in an illusion about Sasuke. After Kakashi finds him, Teams Kakashi and Kurenai conclude the mist around them causes Genjutsu courtesy of the Three-Tails. After Guren wakes up, Y?kimaru suffers another fever and passes out. Tsunade hears of the Three-Tails and assembles Shizune, Ino, Tenten and Lee to go and seal it before the Akatsuki do. Naruto and Sakura talk about the home that people should return to before Naruto heads off to find Y?kimaru.

101 :05x13 - Everyone`s Feelings

Naruto runs into Guren while trying to find Y?kimaru, and battles her. Yamato and Kakashi find Naruto and bring him back to the group. Kabuto tells Guren that Y?kimaru is only a tool to control the Three-Tails, which upsets her. Meanwhile, Shizune, Ino, Tenten and Lee meet up with the ninjas to tell them of their new mission to seal the Three-Tails before Orochimaru's group can capture it. They are also to rescue Y?kimaru and bring him back to the village.

102 :05x14 - Reorganization!

Naruto and his teammates meet Shizune, Ino, Tenten and Lee. The ninjas are spilt into three teams by Kakashi. The Sealing team is made up of Shizune, Sakura, Ino and Hinata. Kakashi, Naruto, Sai and Shino form the Fighting team and the Guarding team comprises of Yamato, Lee, Tenten and Kiba. Tenten passes Naruto a scroll for the mission that the Fifth Hokage gave to her. In a new development, Rinji turns out to be Kabuto's spy on Guren.

103 :05x15 - The Four-Corner Sealing Barrier

The teams set off. Naruto introduces Sai and Shino to each other. The sealing team prepares a search and barrier jutsu to seal the Three-Tailed Beast. Kakashi's fighting team is suddenly attacked by Gozu and Guren while the guarding team begins fighting as well. Lee, Tenten and Kiba finish off Rinji's subordinates with ease. Meanwhile, Naruto angers Guren saying it's his fault Y?kimaru went over to 'her side' and that he won't allow her using him as a tool.

104 :05x16 - Crystal Style Destroyed

The Fighting team continues its battle. Tobi decides to go seek the Three-Tails on his own as he had angered Deidara earlier. He discovers the sealing team trying to seal the Three-Tails at the lake. Shino's bugs defeat Guren, but Kakashi is stopped from killing her by Gozu, who dies protecting Guren. The guarding team stops Rinji from interfering with the sealing team just as Guren remembers she is the one who killed Y?kimaru's mother. Kabuto uses this fact to manipulate Guren.

105 :05x17 - Barrier Battle

Guren heads back to the lake with Y?kimaru and Kabuto to stop the sealing. With Rinji's help, she manages to disrupt the jutsu, and the beast begins attacking the ninja on the lake. As the beast tries to attack Guren, Y?kimaru uses his power to make it stop, and Orochimaru's plan is revealed to have been to manipulate Y?kimaru to love Guren and willingly use his power for her. Tobi, noticing the beast, goes to bring Deidara to it.

106 :05x18 - Red Camellias

Y?kimaru falters and the Three-Tails attacks Guren. Y?kimaru uses his power to restrain the Three-Tails, but he runs out of chakra and is unable to do so. Guren leaves her position and protects Y?kimaru with a Crystal Style shield. Naruto goes out to find Y?kimaru, but ends up fighting the Three-Tails with Guren. Despite their efforts to defeat it, the beast overpowers the two of them, and then proceeds to swallow them. Meanwhile, Kakashi, Shino, and Sai find Y?kimaru unconscious and flee with him, leaving Kabuto frustrated.

107 :05x19 - Bitter Enemies Together

Guren tries to attack Naruto within the Three-Tails, but passes out instead. Meanwhile, Sakura and Ino heal Y?kimaru while Kakashi, Shizune, Kiba, Sai, and Hinata search for Naruto. Naruto and Guren soon encounter a horde of mini Three-Tails that try to attack them, but they evade them and begin to argue about Y?kimaru. While Y?kimaru awakens, Naruto summons numerous Shadow Clones to look for a way out of the beast's stomach. Elsewhere, Kabuto gives Curse Marks to Rinji's men, ordering them to capture Y?kimaru.

108 :05x20 - Camellia Guidepost

Naruto and Guren help each other from the hungry mini Three-Tails as Rinji's men attack Lee's group. Y?kimaru and Kakashi devise a plan to track the Three-Tails with the boy's power and get Naruto and Guren out. After Naruto and Guren escape from an illusion making fog, Naruto begins to realize Guren's good intentions. Y?kimaru then plays the song his mother taught him right above where the Three-Tails is submerged and Kakashi makes a crack in the beast's barrier; Naruto and Guren hear the tune and blast their way out.

109 :05x21 - Cursed Seal Counterattack

The Sealing Team prepared to start sealing the Three-Tails and tell Sai to take Y?kimaru somewhere safe, but he gets attacked by Kabuto's men. Kabuto meanwhile prepares his plans while Lee, Tenten, and Kiba are also attacked. Rinji finds his men and converts them back to his side, ordering them to attack the Sealing Team; they're stopped by Kakashi, Yamato and Shino. Rinji then makes Y?kimaru eat the pills to control the Three-Tails, which Naruto and Guren learn about.

110 :05x22 - Memories of Sin

The Sealing Team continues to seal the Three-Tails with Katsuya's help while Kakashi, Yamato and Shino defeat Rinji's men and prepare to find Yukimaru. Meanwhile, Naruto and Guren find Rinji with Y?kimaru, and Rinji reveals to Y?kimaru that Guren was the one who killed Y?kimaru's mother. Y?kimaru forgives Guren, however Rinji tries to attack Guren but is stopped by Naruto. Rinji is then revealed to be Kabuto, who threatens to kill Naruto if he gets in his way.

111 :05x23 - The Broken Promise

Kabuto explains that he killed Rinji, and that Orochimaru wants the Three-Tails for an upcoming war. He summons Rinji's corpse to attack Guren. Guren manages to fight back by crystalizing herself along with Rinji. The huge crystal, with Guren and Rinji inside, drops into the lake, causing Y?kimaru to believe that Guren is dead. His grief causes the Three-Tails to fly into a rage. Naruto uses his Collaboration Jutsu to assail the Three-Tails, forcing it underwater. Naruto goes to Y?kimaru, and tells him they will go home together.

112 :05x24 - The Place to Return To

Gozu rescues Guren at the bottom of the lake and Yukimaru, who has lost his ability to control the Three-Tails, leaves with Guren and Gozu. Tsunade orders the teams to return to the village to regroup because of their wounds and sends ANBU to keep watch of the lake. Tobi and Deidara, meanwhile, return to the lake. After Deidara kills the ANBU members, the two Akatsuki members lure out the Three Tails, capturing it easily.

Naruto Shippuuden 3: Inheritors of the Will of Fire

Ninjas with bloodline limits begin disappearing in all the countries and blame points toward the fire nation. By Tsunade's order, Kakashi is sacrificed to prevent an all out war. After inheriting charms left by Kakashi, Naruto fights through friends and foes to prevent his death while changing the minds of those who've inherited the will of fire.

113 :06x01 - The Great Snake`s Pupil

The time for the Reanimation jutsu is coming close and Orochimaru's body is reaching its limit. Kabuto and Orochimaru discuss about Sasuke's growth during the Chunin Exams. After practicing his ninja techniques, Sasuke makes a sudden attack on Orochimaru, having nothing else to learn from him. Orochimaru reveals his true form, a giant white snake and makes his attempt to take Sasuke's body. Sasuke uses his Cursed Seal to counter it. Meanwhile, Tsunade discovers the Three-Tails is taken by Akatsuki.

114 :06x02 - The Eye of a Hawk

Orochimaru reminisces about the memories of his past, how he became interested in reanimation and the Sharingan. Orochimaru begins the ritual to take over Sasuke's body. Later on, Kabuto arrives to see Sasuke standing over Orochimaru's snake corpse, and from the Sharingan, he finds out what happened: Orochimaru had failed in possessing Sasuke's body, as Sasuke manages to reverse Orochimaru's Jutsu and absorbs Orochimaru into his body.

115 :06x03 - Zabuza's Blade

Sasuke frees Suigetsu from his hydro capsule,and requests his services. Suigetsu responds that he would gladly give them, on condition that he helps him find Zabuza's sword. They fail to find the blade at his grave, but learn that it is in the possession of a man named Tenzen Daikoku. Sasuke uses Tenzen's guarded fortress to test Suigetsu's combat abilities, and Suigetsu gets the blade without much effort. As promised, Suigetsu joins up with Sasuke, and goes with him to the Southern hideout.

116 :06x04 - Keeper of the Iron Prison

The second member of Sasuke's team is revealed to be a woman named Karin. After Sasuke and Suigetsu arrive at the Southern Hideout, Sasuke requests that Karin comes with them. Despite her hesitations and quarrels with Suigetsu, Karin ultimately accepts after remembering her very first encounter with Sasuke. Sasuke orders Suigetsu to release the prisoners, and after that, they set off to recruit the final member of the team - Jugo.

117 :06x05 - Juugo`s North Hideout

While approaching the hideout, Karin explains that Jugo has abnormal homicidal impulses, and Jugo is the sole carrier of the enzyme necessary to create Orochimaru’s Curse Mark. Upon arriving there, Sasuke and his team are attacked by a massive number of rampaging prisoners, who they manage to suppress. Later on, Sasuke is attacked by Jugo, but he expresses that he only wishes to talk with him. In the meantime, Naruto and Sakura find out that Sasuke has killed Orochimaru.

118 :06x06 - Formation!

While fighting with Sasuke, Jugo remembers how he met his friend - Kimimaro, and what he experienced with him. After being told that Kimimaro has died for his sake, Jugo agrees to go with them, believing that Kimimaro lives on within Sasuke. After informing his newly formed team that his goal is to kill Itachi Uchiha of the Akatsuki, Sasuke names their group "Hebi". In the meantime, Naruto decides to go after Itachi in hopes of finding Sasuke.

119 :06x07 - Kakashi`s Gaiden - The Battlefield of a Boy`s Life! (Part 1)

More than ten years ago, during the Third Great Ninja War, the future Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze, assigns Kakashi Hatake, Obito Uchiha, and Rin, a medical ninja, on a mission to destroy Kannabi Bridge. As they head off, Kakashi unveils his new Jutsu: Chidori, which Minato notes is incomplete. That night, Minato tells Obito about how Kakashi's father committed suicide. The next day, Minato leaves and Rin is later kidnapped. Kakashi refuses to save her, but Obito ignores him and heads off on his own.

120 :06x08 - Kakashi`s Gaiden - The Battlefield of a Boy`s Life! (Part 2)

Obito finds Rin, but is attacked by a Stone Ninja. Kakashi arrives and loses his left eye trying to save Obito. To help Kakashi, Obito is able to awaken his Sharingan. They both then rescue Rin, but the cave they're in collapses in on them, crushing Obito's right side. Obito decides to donate his left Sharingan eye to Kakashi and asks him to protect Rin. Kakashi then protects Rin from the enemy ninja before losing consciousness. They're later saved by Minato who helps them complete their mission and destroy Kannabi Bridge.

121 :06x09 - Moving Out

After capturing the Four-Tailed Jinch?riki, Itachi and Kisame are summoned by their leader and told about Orochimaru's death. They are then warned about Sasuke's movements and that he may be coming after Itachi. Later, after sealing the Three-Tailed and Four-Tailed Beasts, Deidara and Tobi set out targeting either Naruto or Sasuke. Meanwhile, Hebi gathers supplies at an abandoned Uchiha warehouse and Kakashi assembles Team Kurenai, led by himself, to set out with Team Kakashi, led by Yamato, to capture Itachi.

122 :06x10 - The Hunt

As Naruto and the others set off with Kakashi's ninja hounds, Hebi scatters to look for information on Itachi. Sakura walks past Karin as Hinata, Yamato and Naruto run into Kabuto, who gives them a book with information on the Akatsuki. He then reveals that in a search to find himself, he has transplanted Orochimaru's remains into himself. He then leaves to track down Sasuke. Elsewhere, Sasuke is confronted by Tobi and Deidara and prepares for a battle with them.

123 :06x11 - Clash!

Sasuke asks where Itachi is and slices through Tobi, as Deidara retreats to a distance. Tobi gets back up unharmed as Deidara retaliates with his chakra-level 1 (C1) explosives. Sasuke escapes with a simple replacement jutsu forcing Deidara to use one of his C2 creations, the C2 Dragon. Working with Tobi, they forced Sasuke to use the Curse Mark. In the end, Sasuke defeats their combos, and Deidara is left with no choice but to use his trump card that was meant for Itachi, the C4 Karura.

124 :06x12 - Art

As Deidara's C4 Karura detonates, Sasuke perishes. Believing to have won, Deidara drops his guard, only to be pierced by Sasuke's Chidori. After being asked how he had survived, Sasuke reveals that he was never harmed and that Deidara was under his genjutsu. Deidara tries to kill Sasuke, but is misled by his Sharingan again. Both combatants collapse and Sasuke deactivates his Sharingan. Angered at being mocked, Deidara unveils his final attack, turning himself into a living bomb and detonating himself in an attempt to kill Sasuke.

125 :06x13 - Disappearance

Upon noticing the blast, Suigetsu summons Manda and finds out that Sasuke had used him to escape. Unable to survive, Manda dies from his wounds and Zetsu informs the remaining Akatsuki of the death of Deidara and Tobi. Naruto and the others get to the crater, and using Kiba's tracking skills they begin to track down Sasuke's scent. Meanwhile, the Akatsuki leader, Pain and his partner, Konan, are then ordered to capture the Nine-Tailed Jinch?riki by a mysterious man, Tobi, his real identity being Madara Uchiha.

126 :06x14 - Twilight

Jiraya arrives in Konohagakure and tells Tsunade that he has information regarding Pain's location. In the meantime, Karin senses that they're being followed and asks Jugo to help her throw off their pursuers. As Hebi departs, Naruto encounters Itachi. After talking, Itachi departs, having more pressing matters to attend to. Meanwhile, Jiraiya and Tsunade discuss Naruto's parents, Minato Namikaze and Kushina Uzumaki, and the Foundation before Jiraiya departs for the Hidden Rain Village.

127 :06x15 - Tale of a Gutsy Ninja - The Jiraiya Ninja Chronicles (Part 1)

Back in the times of the Third Hokage's youth, the young, soon-to-be Sannin are assigned to Hiruzen Sarutobi’s platoon. Being fascinated by Sarutobi’s summoning jutsu, Jiraiya tries it himself, only to teleport himself to Mount Myoboku. There, Jiraiya trains under Fukusaku and meets the Great Lord Elder who has a vision of his future. Afterwards, Jiraiya goes on a journey with the goal to fulfill his destiny, meeting many strange characters on the way.

128 :06x16 - Tale of a Gutsy Ninja - The Jiraiya Ninja Chronicles (Part 2)

Due to the Third Great Ninja War, Jiraiya, Tsunade and Orochimaru are to the Hidden Rain Village, where they are named the "Legendary Sannin" by Hanzo of the Great Salamander. While in the village, Jiraiya meets with Yahiko, Nagato and Konan who request help from him. Jiraiya accepts and proceeds to train them before returning home. He is later informed that all three children were killed. Some time later, Jiraiya trains Minato, who together with Kushina, names their unborn son "Naruto" after the main character in Jiraiya's first book.

129 :06x17 - Infiltrate! The Village Hidden in the Rain

Jiraiya succesfully infiltrates the Village Hidden in the Rain, where he wanders around town and speaks to the inhabitants about their leader, Pain. Unsuccesful in gathering information, he captures two lower ninja of the city in a frog's stomach, who end up telling him that the mysterious Pain had defeated the former leader of Rain, Hanzo, whom the Sannin together couldn't defeat. Meanwhile, Pain orders Konan to search for the intruder and she folds herself into origami butterflies.

130 :06x18 - The Man Who Became God

Pain changes into a new body and tells Konan to confront Jiraiya, their former sensei. Pain soon arrives himself and discusses his personal ideology and the Akatsuki's goals with Jiraiya. He reveals that the collection of the Tailed Beasts is in order to create a Forbidden Jutsu weapon that will be able to destroy entire nations in an instant, so that the world will be able to "mature" and develop an aversion for war. Pain then summons a crab to attack Jiraiya, which is defeated before Jiraiya summons a giant frog named Gamaken.

131 :06x19 - Activate! Sage Mode

Jiraiya and Gamaken begin their battle against Pain, who has hidden himself using camouflage. Jiraiya uses a barrier jutsu to try and find him while preparing to enter Sage Mode. Meanwhile, Pain assaults Jiraiya with a barrage of animal summons, such as a multiplying dog, a rhino, a bird and a bull, and Jiraiya finally enters in Sage Mode, after sending Gamaken back home. He summons Lord Fukasaku and Lady Shima, who find Pain and destroy his chameleon. Pain then summons two more bodies.

132 :06x20 - Meeting the Six Paths of Pain

Jiraiya blinds one of the new Pains, and Lord Fukasaku suspects that all three share the same eyes and vision, while Jiraiya realizes that each of the bodies has only one specific purpose. Jiraiya stalls for time while Lord Fukasaku and Lady Shima prepare a powerful genjutsu to defeat the bodies and are successful in doing so. As Jiraiya leaves, another Pain ambushes Jiraiya destroying his left arm. As Jiraiya looks up he sees six Pains, including the three that were killed. He stands horrified wondering just who and what Pain is.

133 :06x21 - The Tale of the Gallant Jiraiya

Jiraiya kills one of the Pains only to realise he's fought him before. Lady Shima leaves on Jiraiya's request, before Jiraiya realizes that he has met all of the Pains before. He learns Pain's secret, but his throat is crushed before finally being impaled by the remaining Pains. As he begins to die, he remembers Naruto's determination and forces himself awake, where he writes a message on Lord Fukasaku's back. Pain then blasts him into the ocean, where Jiraiya dies happy, knowing that Naruto will live in his place.

134 :06x22 - Invitation to the Party

While Naruto's team continues their search for Sasuke, Sasuke meets Itachi in a cave, fights an illusion and is told to come to the Uchiha hideout. On their way, Sasuke's team is intercepted by a shadow clone of Naruto, which Sasuke easily dispatches. The real Naruto quickly sends his team after Sasuke, but they are stopped by Tobi. Meanwhile, Team Hebi is confronted by Kisame who won't let anyone but Sasuke pass. Sasuke carries on while his team, specifically Suigetsu, faces Kisame.

135 :06x23 - The Longest Moment

As Sasuke approaches the Uchiha hideout, Itachi recalls his past with his little brother and the assassination that he carried out after joining the Anbu and being under close watch for his suspicious activities. When Sasuke arrives, he declares that his eyes have shown him Itachi's death and the fated battle between the two brothers begins. Itachi's illusions deceive Sasuke as he explains that he conspired with Madara Uchiha, the Leaf's founder and the first to awaken the Mangekyo Sharingan, when he killed their clan.

136 :06x24 - The Light & Dark of the Mangekyo Sharingan

As Zetsu watches on, Itachi explains to Sasuke the secret behind the Mangekyo Sharingan, and the history of the Uchiha clan. Besides being able to tame the Nine-Tailed Fox, the Mangekyo will eventually rob the user of his eyesight and the only way to overcome this obstacle is to steal the Sharingan eyes of that person's sibling. Sasuke retaliates against Itachi's assaults, but he is eventually pinned to a wall and has one of his eyes seemingly stolen by Itachi.

137 :06x25 - Amaterasu

As Itachi moves in to take his remaining eye, Sasuke manages to overcome the Tsukuyomi he was placed under. With Genjutsu now useless, the brothers switch to Ninjutsu, with Sasuke gaining the upperhand. Itachi then activates Amaterasu, however Sasuke uses a Substitution Jutsu to escape the flames. Itachi berates Sasuke, claiming he now has no chakra left, but Sasuke reveals that he had come prepared, and has one last technique left that would make his dream of killing Itachi a reality.

138 :06x26 - The End

Sasuke summons his Lightning jutsu, Kirin, and directs it at Itachi. However, Itachi rises again and reveals his final Mangekyo technique, Susano'o. With Sasuke weakened, Orochimaru is able to break free from his restrictive chakra and attempts to take Sasuke's body. However, Itachi retaliates by sealing him away into another dimension, ridding Sasuke of the Curse Mark. 139 :06x27 - The Mystery of Tobi

The leaf ninja continue to fight Tobi, but all of their attacks manage to phase right through him. Zetsu arrives to inform Tobi of the outcome of the Uchiha match, and Madara drops his goofy persona in order to leave the fight and collect the brothers' bodies. Sasuke wakes up in a cave and Madara approaches him, introducing himself. An Amaterasu is unleashed from Sasuke's eye, but Madara recovers from it and mentions how in-depth Itachi's plans were. Sasuke asks what he means, and Madara tells him that Itachi was trying to protect him.

140 :06x28 - Fate

Madara tells Sasuke about the history of the Uchiha and how they and their rivals, the Senju clan, led by the future First Hokage, Hashirama Senju, once made a pact to unite the two clans as one and to make the first hidden village, Konoha. Afterwards, the Senju spied on and secretly discriminated against the Uchiha, forcing Madara, their leader, to leave and try to exact revenge upon them. Years later, the Uchiha were planning a coup d'etat on the village and Itachi was chosen by the village leaders to spy on the clan from the inside.

141 :06x29 - Truth

Madara continues by informing Sasuke that Itachi was a double-agent who was assigned to leak intel on the Uchiha back to the village. He then contacted Madara to help him undertake his mission of exterminating the Uchiha clan. They succeeded in their mission, although Itachi couldn't bring himself to kill Sasuke. Some time later, Sasuke reminisces on Itachi's final words to him, before breaking down into tears. He then changes his team's name to Taka and declares, with his new Mangekyo Sharingan, that their goal is to destroy Konoha.

142 :06x30 - The Battle at Thunder Cloud Gorge

The Konoha teams decide to head back home as Sasuke remembers that he saw Itachi crying after the massacre. He then states that he cannot rebuild the Uchiha clan in the same way that Itachi had envisioned. Madara, happy that he can use Sasuke for himself, assigns Taka the task of capturing the Eight-Tails while Akatsuki hunts the last two. Taka tracks down the host, Killer Bee, to the Land of Lightning and engages him in battle. Bee manages to overpower Jugo and Suigetsu before Sasuke steps up to fight him one-on-one.

143 :06x31 - Eight-Tails vs. Sasuke

Sasuke fights Killer Bee and is injured by his swords. Karin heals him, and Sasuke, Suigetsu, and Jugo then begin a combined assault on Bee until he decides to use the Eight-Tails' power. Sasuke is injured and revived again by Jugo, who regresses in age as a result. All healed, Sasuke unleashes Amaterasu on Bee, finally able to subdue him. Meanwhile, two Cloud ninja watch the fight from a cliff, and they notice the Uchiha crest on Sasuke. They rush the news to Bee's big brother, the Raikage.

Naruto Shippuuden 4: The Lost Tower

Assigned on a mission to capture Mukade, a missing-nin, Naruto Uzumaki sets out for the once glorious historic ruins of "Ouran", where he pursues and corners the rogue ninja. Mukade's goal is revealed to be a dormant leyline within the ruins; he unleashes the power of the leyline, causing a light to envelop Naruto, sending him into the past, 20 years before the series began. When Naruto awakens, he comes into contact with the Fourth Hokage, Minato Namikaze.

144 :07x01 - The Wanderer

On a cliff a young man, a girl, and her servant are attacked by a group of ninja. The servant sends word to the Hidden Leaf Village for aid and the young man, Utakata, leaves with the girl, Hotaru. Back in the Leaf, Tsunade tells Shizune of a clan named the Tsuchigumo and an elder named En no Gyoja who developed a forbidden jutsu, which the Leaf are to prevent the theft of. Team 7 and Yamato arrive to assist Utakata and Hotaru, but Utakata leaves immediately with faith that they will assist her.

145 :07x02 - Successor of the Forbidden Jutsu

The ninja bandits have a meeting with their leader about the Forbidden jutsu. Elsewhere Team 7 tricks Hotaru into staying as her bodyguards until they reach her village. After reminiscing about the past, Utakata wakes up to come across the ninja bandits and fights them until he is cornered by their barrier jutsu which soon explodes. Team 7 finally reach Hotaru's village and they leave her in their care, but Naruto senses something troubling and heads back to the village, suspicious of the villagers' attitude toward Hotaru.

146 :07x03 - The Successor's Feelings

Hotaru's uncle shows her to her room, where she is ambushed by the bandits. They are trapped and Hotaru escapes into the forest, but the bandits catch up to her. Utakata saves her, and the bandit's leader shows that Utakata is being hunted for 50 million ryo. Utakata and Hotaru land in a secluded place where Hotaru shows him something on her body. Suddenly Mist Tracker Ninja attack Utakata and take Hotaru hostage. They tell Hotaru that Utakata killed his former master. Naruto soon arrives with Yamato and Sai.

147 :07x04 - Rogue Ninja’s Past

The hidden Mist Anbu and Yamato negotiate and it is hinted that Utakata is a Jinchuuriki. It is decided that Utakata will travel with the hidden leaf until their mission is complete before the mist Anbu take him back to their village. Utakata didn't mean to kill his master; it is realized that while trying to separate the Tailed Beast from him, it came out and killed Utakata's master. Later Hotaru is hurt leading Naruto to find out that the forbidden justu is engraved into her back.

148 :07x05 - The Successor of Darkness

The bandits' leader appears on Mt. Katsurugi and listens in on a conversation between Tonbei, Hotaru, Utakata, and Team 7. Tonbei suggests that they should remove the Forbidden jutsu from Hotaru for her safety, but Hotaru suggests searching for Shiranami, another person who could use the jutsu. Naruto leaves to go search for him and it is revealed that the bandit leader is Shiranami. Utakata leaves to speak with Tsurugi, but Tsurugi and the rest of the Anbu encounter a dog with Rinnegan eyes.

149 :07x06 - Parting

Naruto arrives at Shiranami's cabin and is captured by the bandits. Utakata, who had found a note left by Hotaru and was looking for her, arrives and drives the bandits away with his Tailed Beast's chakra. Hotaru encounters Shiranami, who captures her and takes her to the Tsuchigumo village. He takes control of her and the villagers and takes her with him to unseal the Forbidden jutsu. Naruto and Utakata track Shiranami and Hotaru to the village, but are attacked by the villagers and the bandits, who stall them until Team 7 arrives.

150 :07x07 - Activate the Forbidden Jutsu

Shiranami has Hotaru in a binding jutsu that keeps her restrained in one place. Shiranami asserts that Hotaru is nothing but a vessel to collect the natural chakra energy that will release the jutsu. Utakata and Naruto arrive but are held back by Shiranami's binding jutsu. However, they manage to free themelves. Meanwhile, Team 7 struggles with the bandits and villagers and is unable to advance. Finally, Shiranami gathers all the energy he requires and releases the fury jutsu.

151 :07x08 - Student and Teacher

After the peformance of the forbidden jutsu, Hotaru is horrified to see the damage the jutsu has done. Shiranami then notices the forbidden jutsu overflowing with chakra and the fact that it would destroy itself along with Hotaru. While Naruto chases the fleeing Shiranami, Utakata tries to save Hotaru using the hidden power within him. Can Utakata save Hotaru?

152 :08x01 - Somber News

Returning from the mission, Naruto recollects his strange encounter with Itachi. What did the now deceased Itachi wish to tell him? As Naruto ponders this, Kakashi makes an abrupt visit. Without explanation Naruto is summoned to the Hokage residence, where he receives shocking news. Meanwhile, Sasuke hands over the captured eight-tails to Tobi.

The village now needed a strong and firm leader who would enforce the laws of shinobi and bring order to the world. He stated that he alone was fit to be Hokage.
