Double Jeopardy - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Sadie is explaining how she can tell you the courtship rituals of any animal, but she has never had one of her own. She was excited because she's soon going to experience it at the Homecoming Dance. She's putting up a flyer on the bulletin board and staples her sleeve on the board. Owen waves hello to her and she's trying to play it cool as if nothing is wrong. Ben comes and asks her if she's going to the dance this Friday night. She says she isn't and she's reminding herself of what she's not doing. He knew she was going, but he wasn't sure if she was free any time. Sadie backs away from the board and her sleeve came off.

Rain and Margaret are walking down the hallway together and he tells her that he's going to wear the hottest shirt at the dance. She disagrees and says she is. Ron comes to them and asks if they would like to buy some chocolate to help the football team raise some money for them to go on a road trip. Rain asks, "Since when does Ron Yuma care about the football team." Ron tells him that he doesn't care about the football team; all he cares about is getting tickets to Planet Zartol. He leaves and Margaret says that the concert has been sold out for months. Rain decides that they have to get those tickets.

By Margaret's locker, Owen thanks Sadie for helping him with his homework. Margaret comes up to Sadie after he leaves and says Owen is going to ask Sadie to the dance because he likes her. She wants Margaret to stop dancing because Owen didn't ask her. Margaret thinks that Ben might ask her first, then she thought who does Sadie want to ask her. Sadie thinks that's it's like choosing between a husky and a cattle dog. Owen is the husky. He's strong, silent, loyal, and cute. Ben is the cattle dog. He's intelligent, level-headed, a natural born leader, and cute. Sadie tells Margaret maybe she'll get a goldfish instead.

On a park bench, Margaret tells Rain she's ready to sell chocolate. He tells her that she's not representing the company dressed like that. Rain tells her that clothing makes all the difference. Margaret tells him that maybe they should split up.

At home, Sadie keeps glancing over at the phone and then it rings. Unfortunately, it was Hal playing a trick on her. Rain comes in and isn't having a lot of luck with the selling. Everyone wants to buy on credit. Hal takes a candy bar and tells him he's paying next week. Margaret asks about her dance date status and still no date. She says she's there for Sadie and it's all about her today. Sadie says she doesn't care if no one has asked her to the dance, and it's no big deal. The phone rings and Owen asks her to the dance. She says yes and Margaret squeals with excite. Rain tries to sell Sadie some chocolate and Margaret tells him Sadie's house is her territory. Margaret tells him she's going solo.

Walking to school, Margaret tells Sadie that she should buy her chocolate by the bulk and feed it to all of the animals at the zoo. She tells Margaret the animals would get sick and die. Rain comes up to them and suggests to Sadie that her Mom can sell his bars on her next book tour. Ben comes up to Sadie and asks her if she would like to be his date to the homecoming dance. She says yes and she's happy. While she's dancing, Margaret tells her that's made a big mistake by saying yes to Ben...and Owen.

At home, Sadie asks Margaret how could she do this. Margaret says all she has to do is choose and Sadie says that she's indecisive. Margaret says that if she doesn't choose, she'll once again be left out in the cold. Sadie was wondering if she made that much money from selling chocolate bars. She said Rain is going down. Coming from outside, they hear loud music. Margaret and Sadie go outside to find Rain trying to sell chocolate with a bullhorn and a marching band.

The next day at school, Margaret asks Sadie if she has made her decision yet. She has no clue, but what she wants is a sign. They walk to Sadie's locker and find a picture of her on it. It was a note from Ben saying he can't thoughts of her out of his head and he can't wait to dance with her. She was getting ready to tell Owen that she can't go with him and then he starts to come. She hid the picture and he said he's renting a limo for the dance that's going to have a big screen TV, surround sound, and a fully loaded snack bar. He's going to pick her up at 8.

At the commons, Rain is still trying to sell chocolate with his head mike. Margaret comes up behind him with a bullhorn also trying to sell chocolate. Rain says buy 2 and get the third free. Margaret says buy 2 and get a kiss free and all of the guys start flocking towards her.

Back at Sadie's, there are two hours before the dance and she still needs help, so she finds Hal. He invented a new game called Pepperoni Darts. Sadie tells him she's not good. He thought it was an overdue library book. She tells him that she's going to the dance with Owen and Ben. He says it's not a problem, it's a gift. Then he suggests to go with both of them. Sadie wants to know how that would. Hal says when he goes to the Whitby Creamery, he gets a sample of every flavor and an hour later, he knows exactly what he wants. If he can decide between 42 flavors, she can decide between 2.

Back the commons, Rain tells the mall cop there is a girl selling chocolate bars without a permit. The mall cop says, "You're going down sister."

At home again, Hal is reading a magazine and smelling fragrances, then putting them on him. Sadie is talking to Ben telling her that he'll meet her at the punch bowl at 8:30. After she hangs up, she says she can't do this and she'll say she's feeling sick. Now she is starting to feel sick. Hal says the dance will be so crowded, they'll never know that she's going to split time with them. Sadie wants to know how can Hal make up his mind after 42 flavors. He says he doesn't know and it comes to him like an ice cream headache.

Outside the hallway, Margaret tells Rain for a guy who got her banned from the mall for a month, he looks really good. Rain tells Margaret for a girl who made chocolate sales to a record high and using unsanctioned tactics for selling chocolate, he complements her back. This is how Margaret pictured this night, except the fact Michael Buble isn't her date. Rain wants a truce of no more selling chocolate. She agrees and they're off to the gyn.

Inside of the dance, Owen and Sadie walk in and he complements her, she complements him back. He asks her to dance and she says she has to go get some stuff. In the meantime, she wanted him to check in a scarf. So Sadie goes across the dance floor and finds Ben at the punch bowl. He gives her a corsage and she wears it. She tells Ben she has to go and he should get her some punch and she can go water the corsage. In the middle, she meets Hal at the floor and she takes off the corsage and finds Owen. He asks her when can the two dance. She said as soon as she comes back for them doing 1 ticket, 2 items. She goes off to find Ben and drinks the punch and he asks her to dance. She's dancing, but she's moving further and further back. Ben asks Sadie what she's doing and she says she's "dancing outside of the box". She gives Hal the corsage again and tells him his plan isn't working. He tells her not to worry, help is on its way. She's back with Owen and they start to dance.

Rain is having a good time and is even happier to see glowsticks. A chocolate bar slides to his feet and he goes over to Margaret. He told her that he thought they agreed not to sell anymore chocolate. She says she's suprised he would think it's hers and it could be anyone's. Rain then points out that it has her business card on the back. She leaves and he eats some chocolate. She comes back and tells him he owes her two dollars.

Sadie goes back to Ben and he tells her she's a great dancer. She tells him she has great partners. Then corrects herself and meant to say partner. Owen then spots Sadie and Ben dancing together and he looks mad. Sadie and Ben stop dancing and he starts to look at her. Ms. Mann gets on the stage and tells everyone there is a special announcement that is going to be given out by Hal. He tells everyone that a girl asked her for help earlier in the day and he promised to help and not to let her down. He then welcomes Sadie, the organizer of the dance onto the stage. Ms. Mann tells Sadie to come on stage and bring her date up with her. Sadie starts walking, Ben and Owen start walking behind her. She starts to scream when she gets on the stage.

In the bathroom, Sadie is playing "He Hates Me, He Hates Me More" with the corsage. Margaret tells her she can't hide in the bathroom forever. She can't believe Hal did this to her, she also tells her she also did this to herself. She then says she can make this right. Owen and Ben are nice guys and if she talks to them, she's sure they'll understand. Sadie says whether she goes one way or the other, one of them is still going to end up hurt.

They both leave the bathroom and Sadie thinks to herself that Margaret is right. Ben and Owen are two nice guys. She was wrong and if she explains it to them, everything will be okay. It's not as if she was set out to hurt both of them. Sadie went to talk to Owen and they were happy holding hands and went back to dance and everything went just fine. Unfortunately, that's not what happened. When Sadie really went to tell Owen what happened, all she could hope for is for him to understand. He told her to keep hoping because it's not going to happen. He told her if she didn't want to come to the dance with him, it's fine, but she didn't have to embarass him in front of the whole school. Sadie says she's sorry. Owen tells her what's worse. She really hurt him, he's really sorry.

Rain is talking to the chocolate at the dance telling it it's his only friends. Margaret comes up to him and says she's wrong. She's sorry that chocolate nearly ruined their friendship. Rain then says if he wins the tickets to see Planet Zartol, there's no one else he would rather take than her. Margaret feels the same way. Ms. Mann gets back on stage and announces the winner of the two tickets to see Planet Zartol is...Ron Yuma. There's scattered clapping and Margaret and Rain want a recount. Ron gets on stage and tells everyone he's surprised and he doesn't have a speech prepared. He pulls out a bunch of notecards.

Outside in the hallway, Ben walks up to Sadie. She says that she really is sorry. She wants to know if he's just going to stare or is he going ot say something.

Ron is still going on and on and Ms. Mann makes him stop talking. She gives him the tickets and tells him to enjoy the concert. Ron didn't know it was a concert and thought it was tickets to an intergalactic space voyage. He has to find someone to go with him and Rain and Margaret want to go with him.

Back with Ben and Sadie in the hallway, he tells her that he played both of them but he's always pushing her to take risks and dating two guys at once is pretty off the hook. Sadie wants to know if she's off the hook and he says not quite. Ben wants to know who asked her second. She tells him he did. He says that she picked him over Owen. She tells him it's not about him, it's about me making bad decisions. He says it is, but it's also about the two of them. Ben then leans forward and kisses Sadie on the forehead.
