Nero's coworker Saul Panzer stands under murder suspicion. The corpse of his friend, a night club singer, was rescued from the East River. Naturally the eccentric detective risks to prove Saul's innocence.
There are some Hitchcock overtones in this mystery, at least in the beginning: a former underwater strip-tease artist's body is found floating in the East River. And as the intrepid detective probes the murder, one of his prime suspects turns out to be the decedent's boyfriend — the coroner.
