Perri Reed, played by Gabrielle Union
Perri Reed is a bright, ambitious reporter, an only child whose parents doted on her. She went to college where she was a member of a secret society, and the subsequent social connections she formed have helped her career.
Perri started working at the Beacon just out of college and has been there four years, working her way up the ranks. Needless to say, she isn't fond of Kolchak having usurped her position as crime reporter, even if he's been a reporter for five years.
A genial person by nature, Perri makes friends easily and is able to charm a policeman or FBI agent as easily as an eyewitness. She also is willing to use her feminine charms when necessary to get her way with a man.
While skeptical by nature, Perri is willing to accept the evidence of her own eyes and has come to accept that Kolchak has discovered... something that defies rational explanation. That doesn't mean she won't present alternate theories: however once she is convinced, she's convinced.
After a rough start, Perri has formed a friendship and working relationship with Kolchak based on mutual trust and respect. She knows the Los Angeles area better and is capable of smoothing over the ruffled feathers that Carl sometimes leaves in his path. She still seems somewhat awed by Vincenzo, and defers to him, and treats Jain McManus as a full-fledged partner despite the fact she technically outranks him. |
