Guardians - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
A Russian black ops team is invading a house in Alsace, France. After the leader storms in with his troops, he discovers nobody inside. He orders the troops to stand down – Karim is not there. However, when he holds observation outside the building, his boss Gogol approaches him to announce that in spite of supplying money, time and resources, he has been able to deliver anything. Gogol is quite stern with his words, and it turns out that all he can say about business, is that this deal is up for review. Later, when the black ops leading commando gets back to his apartment, he is quick to notice someone’s there. He flings a dish in the direction, and Nikita is about to ambush him. However, she gets back to sanity when the commando explains that he might be working with the Russian black ops, but he is out there to protect her, not kill her. Moreover, he is using Gogol, and the moment they breathe in her direction, he will rip their heads off. Later, Nikita tells her she needs his help. She needs a black box because she has lost hers, and she suspects Amanda.

Back at Division HQ, Amanda wants to know whereabouts of Alex. She learns that she has been out for 84 hours, and no one has a trace of her, as yet. Soon a techie helps Amanda locate her somewhere in Russia. Amanda immediately knows it is near the house where she was born, but is now owned by the man she wants to kill. Alex arrives at an illegal goods joint in St. Petersburg. She is looking for guns, and she is not joking. After the goons at the joint are about to search her for money thinking she is stupid, she knocks them down with a bayonet stick, and wants the gun she needs.

Meanwhile, Nikita and her commando confidante discuss taking Gogol’s advantage. When Nikita warns he is dangerous, he explains that can be a good thing. However, Nikita has more to reveal than he already knows. Percy tried taking advantage of Gogol by befriending him, and he ended up getting burned. Nikita explains the operation – it involved a girl named Alexandra, whom she was able to save, while her entire family was killed. He is quick to identify that the girl is Alex, Nikita’s partner. Nikita cannot explain why Alex does not trust her anymore, but she knows that Gogol is not priority right now, the black box is. Moreover, she knows Alex has headed somewhere dark. Meanwhile someone types out ‘Percy’s orders’ to Division HQ. Later in the night, at Pinksy Forest, 60 miles outside Moscow, Alex leaps off a moving truck, and is on the way to her target.

Meanwhile, as Nikita and her confidante, now revealed to be Owen, are enjoying breakfast, she insists that they should check out the already raided place once more. Nikita wants to double check, and Owen tells her how much he misses Nikita being bossy. Later, Amanda has Percy handcuffed. He is being punished for allowing Alex to go after Sergey. Amanda holds his feet to the fire, but he argues that he trusts Alex – she is able and resourceful. Later, as Sergey and Gogol discuss Alex, the former wants to know if they have knowledge about Alex’s whereabouts. Gogol insists they have good reason to believe that she has gone into hiding. Meanwhile Alex is approaching her target through a jungle, and finds something interesting hidden in the tree moss.

She remembers her father’s advice – when he tested her memory about the mosses, he also told her that she needs people who she can trust. When she gets ahead, she errs setting off the perimeter alarm, but deliberately cuts her hand to drop blood on a piece of fur, and places it on the alarm wire – as if an animal had mistakenly hit it. As Owen and Nikita search the house in vain, they become aware about the advantages of using Gogol’s resources. Nikita is tired of losing grip on one part of her objective while doing another part well. This way she has ended up hurting many loved ones. Meanwhile, as Gogol and Sergey talk about the black boxes, Sergey is worried about the operation getting too dangerous. When Gogol thinks that using the black boxes, rather than destroying them will be wiser, Sergey thinks that the risk of not destroying information that he killed Nikolai is a loose end. However, as Gogol tries convincing him further, Owen is at Gogol’s office. He can get Gogol a black box.

Meanwhile, as Alex tries hiding from the guards after setting off the perimeter alarm, she manages to get away from their vision by staying put on a tree. When the guards get under the tree, they do not notice the rope, and report to Gogol that it was an animal. After they leave, Alex, in the attempt of getting to the ground, falls and knocks her head on a rock. She is seriously hurt, but looks strong enough to keep at her mission. Later, when Gogol’s team is deciphering the black box location, it turns out that a professor in Germany might be the guardian. Owen is raring to go. When Gogol offers a team, Owen tells him that is not how it works. He has to get there, and destroy the black box as secretively as possible. Gogol does not want it destroyed, but retrieved. When Owen tells him that wasn’t the deal, Gogol uses employer’s prerogative to suppress him. At Germany, when Owen contacts Nikita, two of Gogol’s men are quick to paralyze him, and take him off the streets.

Later in the professor’s laboratory, Division enemy finds access to the black box. Nikita is waiting to retrieve the black box. She points the gun at the person who had been giving out ‘Percy’s orders’ while Percy remained in Amanda’s custody. When Nikita tells him to put his hands up, then put aside the black box, and the professor to hand it to her, her opponent flings a knife at the professor’s back. She starts shooting, but immediately faces a barrage of machine gun bullets from Gogol’s men hiding there. While she manages to retrieve the black box and start running, she faces the police. They confiscate her weapon and the black box. Later, after Gogol finds out Nikita’s role, he knows with whom captive Owen was speaking earlier. He tells Gogol, they share a common interest – both of them cannot wait to kill Gogol. Meanwhile, Alex manages to sneak inside her target.

As Nikita and the black box stealer are being taken to police custody in a van, she tries convincing him that he is working on the wrong side. Surprisingly, he is able to manage a knife from his shoe sole, and free himself. The two get into a fierce fight immediately. However, Gogol’s men are standing off the course, with Owen hands tied, and ready blow up the police envoy with a bazooka. The powerful explosive hits the convict van, and a barrage of bullets exchanged. After Gogol’s men take down the police personnel, Gogol retrieves the black box from the pilot car. While they are about to take out Nikita stuck with hands tied in the blown up van, Michael arrives. Owen had made him a call. His help proves valuable for Owen and Nikita, who manage to take out Gogol’s men together.

Later, when they are back at Owen’s apartment, Michael and Nikita plan based on the premise that the black box is already destroyed by RA, and that the orders are really coming from Percy. Owen explains that although Percy’s role is unclear, what they know is that the black box is going to be used, and not destroyed. RA has told him so. Nikita insists Michael and Owen should go after the guardians together, and she makes it to Alex’s target. Meanwhile, Alex manages to get into one of the rooms through the laundry area. Finding her mom there, she is nothing but a bag of mixed feelings.
