Nikita

Nikita

When she was a deeply troubled teenager, Nikita (Maggie Q, "Live Free or Die Hard," "Mission Impossible 3") was rescued from death row by a secret U.S. agency known only as Division, who faked her execution and told her she was being given a second chance to start a new life and serve her country. What they didn't tell her was that she was being trained as a spy and assassin. Throughout her grueling training at Division, Nikita never lost her humanity, even falling in love with a civilian. When her fiancé was murdered, Nikita realized she had been betrayed and her dreams shattered by the only people she thought she could trust, so she did what no one else before her had been able to do: she escaped. Now, after three years in hiding, Nikita is seeking retribution and making it clear to her former bosses that she will stop at nothing to expose and destroy their covert operation.

A continuation of the 1990 Luc Besson film of the same name.
This new version is closer to the film than the earlier La Femme Nikita series from 1997. (Source: The CW)

The first episode didn't raise my eyebrows, standard spy vs spy feeling went down my spine and I though, should I keep watching or place this in the scraphead already? Read more

Recaps
3x22: Til Death Do Us Part recap: The episode begins with a view of the White House; the sound of a shot being fired is heard. Nikita is shown standing in the Oval office with a baffled expression, while the President is slumped on her desk in a pool of blood. There is a gun lying nearby. At Division twelve hours earlier, Ryan arrives from Washington and tells Nikita that they should all have pardons from the President by the week’s end. Nikita is skeptical about the President’s intention, which Ryan finds odd. Nikita is about to tell him the reason why, but via a com, which Ryan isn’t aware of, Amanda warns Nikita to not tell Ryan anything... read more.

3x21: Invisible Hand recap: The scene opens with Nikita walking up to a car. She gets in and talks to Henry on the screen. He asks why she is desperate to find out who the man with Amanda was. He says that he is sorry. A gun is put to Henry’s head and Henry is killed. The man, who was with Amanda, sits down and introduces himself as Smith. The car is locked and remotely driven towards another cluster of cars. Nikita escapes just in time. Nikita goes to Division and tells Michael about Smith. He tells Nikita that they are done and it doesn’t matter that Amanda is still out there. Nikita is not happy and says that Amanda will keep coming unless she stops her. Michael realizes that Nikita just wants another mission. Birkhoff comes in and says that he is done taking the car apart to try to get a lead on The Shop... read more.

recap: The episode begins with Owen, who has gone rouge, showing a man an old video. In the video Nikita is shown telling Michael how good it felt to kill a drug cartel boss. The cartel boss was the bother of the man watching the video. Leonardo Santos, the man watching the video, is the head of Brazilian intelligence. He wants to know, who the woman in the video is, but Owen tells him that to gain further information he will have to pay. He tells Santos about the black box, which has all the information that he needs. He hands Santos a bidding phone, saying whoever wins the auction will get the black box... read more.

3x18: Broken Home recap: The episode begins and Michael, while being put in a cell by the rebels, is told that Alex is the one who started the mutiny. In the ops room, the rebels are handing out all the Division employees their new identities, while Birkhoff is being forced to transfer money into each of the bank accounts made in their new names. Alex is overseeing the whole thing and Amanda’s experiment on her brain is still determining her actions. So when she is told by Sean that all the rouge agents will be hunted down by the government, she using her warped logic comes to the conclusion that Shadownet needs to be destroyed. She feels it’s too powerful and if it’s destroyed, no one will be able to track the agents... read more.

3x17: Masks recap: The episode begins with Nikita and Michael questioning Rachel about who she is working for. Rachel is refusing to say anything and Sean tells Alex that Nikita probably needs to use some enhanced measures to make her talk. Alex doesn’t think that’s a good idea because Rachel is one of them. While they are debating this issue, the team gets info that Danforth is dead. The official version is that Danforth collapsed in a restaurant after a brain aneurism, but the team feels there is more to it than meets the eye. They all conclude that this is Amanda’s doing... read more.
