Numb3rs

Show Tidbits
The building depicted as the Los Angeles FBI field office is the same building that serves as Philadelphia police headquarters in Cold Case. Once Numb3rs started filming, Cold Case started using only tight shots of the building, whereas Numb3rs mainly uses long shots.

The building is the office tower of the LA Center Studios, a comprehensive production facility. It is located at the intersection of West 5th Street and South Bixel in downtown Los Angeles.

Charlie Eppes teaches mathematics at CalSci University. CalSci is based on CalTech in Pasedena CA. Most of the campus exteriors are shot at CalTech.

Dr. Larry Fleinhardt was written out of most of the last half of the third season due to Peter MacNichol's role on "24." The sub-plot was that Dr. Fleinhardt became a mission payload specialist on the International Space Station. During his absence he was referred to many times by other characters. The character of Dr. Mildred Finch (Kathy Najimy) was brought in to give Charlie an intellectual peer to play off of.

Diane Farr did not appear in the last few episodes of season 3, presumably to accommodate her pregnancy.

The actors who play the main characters in the show (Rob Morrow, David Krumholtz, & Judd Hirsch) were all born and raised in the New York City Metropolitan area, yet play members of a family long-established in the Los Angeles area.

The official name of CalSci is The California Institute of Science.

Rob Morrow (Don Eppes) and David Krumholtz (Charlie Eppes) play brothers 5 years apart in age, yet Morrow is actually 16 years old than Krumholtz. Morrow was born in 1962. Krumholtz was born in 1978.

In seasons 1 thru 3, all of the series regulars appeared in every episode, except for scheduled absences, such as Peter MacNicol and Diane Farr. They did not appear for several consecutive episodes. Starting in season 4, there are many episodes where one or more of the series regulars do not appear in a single episode and are not credited.
