Batting Practice - Recap

Jackie wakes up and Kevin is going to batting practice really early. He makes sure she can get the girls to school and then leaves. She wakes up in serious pain. She has a hard time trying to get the girls ready. They have their vitamins and they trigger her wanting to chew on a pill.

Kevin is at the batting cage and Eddie meets him there. Kevin is raging. He asks him if something is off. He can't even look at her lately. He says it is messed up. Kevin says that there is all this unspoken stuff there. He wants to put it all out there. It's making him crazy. He asks him what he wants to say. Kevin says he has to know what he's talking about and Eddie says he doesn't. Kevin just stares him down and hits a ball, breaking the bat.

Gloria gets a call telling her that she's not going to get the first lady, Michelle Obama, to come to the hospital. Jackie goes in and asks when the day is when she can administer drugs. Gloria tells her to make more rope. Jackie looks at the xanax and ends up taking the rest of them. Gloria tells the kids about the first lady visiting another hospital. She tells them that even though the first lady has chosen another hospital, they will have a great day together.

Cooper gets his winnings from Fantasy Football. Cooper says that he thought this was going to be the worst year of his life. Thor thought he'd be the best man, but Cooper says Eddie is first on the list. He tells him he can't be his best man and sing at his wedding. Zoey invites Jackie to a party in the basement to show appreciate to the nurses. She says it is an important party. Jackie feels that week is patronizing. They say they can't, but Thor can make an appearance. Eddie goes to talk to Jackie and he says that there's a problem. It seems that he thinks Kevin might know what's going on.

There's a trauma and a cab driver hit the pedestrian. He is panicked and needs to get checked out. It seems like he's going to have a heart attack. Kelly helps her get him dealt with. She ends up having to tell him to go get the meds, because she's on probation and cannot administer medications. They get the cab driver breathing again. Jackie says she followed all the rules to O'Hara.

Gloria is with the kids and tries to teach them why it is bad to eat a lot of sugar, to eat healthier, and to exercise more. She gives the kids raisins. She tries to make the box more fun. Another patient comes in and this woman cannot stop coughing. Gloria has the kids follow her as the nurses and doctors watch. Cooper brings Jackie into the chapel to deal with his wedding plans. He needs someone to pick up the cake, make sure there is music, and make sure everyone is seated. He wants it to be her. She wants him to ask Zoey. She gets roped in. His future wife reminds him of Jackie. She says good luck, then.

Zoey is downstairs waiting for people to show up and Lenny does. There are a lot of balloons and proper decorations as well as food. Thor shows up and sees what she's done. He tells her that he's singing in Cooper's wedding. He decides to rehearse until everyone gets there and sings Ava Maria. Jackie needs a refill. She says that if she's out she's taking too many. She figures it out and is bummed that Jackie took her pills. Coop asks what she's wearing to his wedding, he asks if it's too hard for her to go since she declined and he says she's definitely going now.

Jackie takes care of the coughing patient. They provide her with pain medication and Jackie talks her out of taking them and pockets them. She tells her that she just needs to go to the pharmacy and get some cold medication. She should also avoid dairy. The woman admits to eating a lot of ice cream. She goes into the bathroom to take them. Kelly goes in and wants to celebrate after work. He tells her that her probation is his fault, but he didn't name names. She isn't sure she can trust her. He invites her to come out with him after work and she thinks about it. She takes the medication given.

Eddie asks Cooper if he has a brother or a cousin, because he cannot be the best man at his wedding. Eddie thinks that what he's doing is crazy. Eddie is very dark about the potential with the wedding. Zoey and Thor are in the basement still and she's feeling bummed. A cop comes in to give her flowers and tells her she's appreciated. He thinks that this isn't the only week she should get flowers and he tells her she works hard. He also tells her that she looks nice. He seems to be very interested in her. She invites him to stay for the party and he says that he's on duty, but they can have a rain check. Thor tries to remind her about Lenny. She tells him that he should be on vocal rest.

Cooper follows Eddie out and he tells him that he's not trying to be a jerk, he just had a bad day. He tells him that he loves her and that he's tired of being alone. He wants to look forward. He convinces Eddie to be his best man at the wedding. He wants no hugs. He tells him that he doesn't know too many happy married couples.

Jackie goes into O'Hara's office and she went shopping. O'Hara gives her the refill for her daughter. She wants to help her. She says that she will prescribe what she thinks is best for her in her situation to get her clean. She wants to be her “methadone clinic”. She tells her that she's in over her head and she just wants everything to be better. This is the only thing that she can think of. Jackie agrees to it and thanks her.

Gloria's kids eat all of the treats downstairs in the basement. Zoey tells Gloria that if you keep telling a kid no, they'll want it more. Kelly takes Jackie to a comedy show. They both drink. She says that she got into a car accident and wrecked her back. She says she took 4 patches and Kelly says she took six and has never been to Haiti. Jackie laughs at what he has to say.
