Ten years ago, Nick Garrett left his hometown for Manhattan. Now, Nick has returned home restart his life after landing a job as a teacher. However, while Nick was in Manhattan, he wrote a best-selling novel that hurt the ones that he loved, and now he is forced to face them and attempt to move forward in his life.

Meanwhile, Phil feels a spark when he meets the pizza delivery girl in unique circumstances. Elsewhere, Janet the Planet worries that Eddie is embarrassed to be with her in public during their first date; and Ikey continues to have an affair with Owen's wife.

Meanwhile, Janet the Planet and Hannah send Sam on a secret scouting mission, but are horrified when it leads to tragic consequences.

Nick and the guys sit at the hospital with Hannah as they nervously wait for the results of Sam's emergency surgery. As time ticks by, Nick does his best to comfort Hannah and in doing so the two have a chance to reconnect. Meanwhile, the Pizza Girl is accosted by drunken frat members and Phil has to find a way to defend her without leaving the house. Elsewhere, Ikey and Allison decide what to do about their affair, and Eddie has to face up to standing up Janet.

However, Nick's choice becomes more complex when an unexpected visitor shows up at Hannah's. Meanwhile, Nick and the guys plan a surprise for Eddie, but Eddie's response isn't what they had hoped. Ray continues his quest to destroy the gang's relationships by revealing Ikey and Alison's affair to Owen and Physical Phil is forced to make a life-changing move to win Pizza Girl back.
