Regina is at her house preparing for the day when the doorbell rings. She goes to answer it but no one is there. However, there is a basket of green apples on the step. Zelena is already in the dining room and says that it's a gift. Regina wonders why her half-sister is there and Zelena claims that she's there to check on her. She talks about how she strives for things while Regina used a curse to run away from happiness… and how Cora was disappointed in her. Regina points out that Cora gave Zelena away, and Zelena tells her that she has no idea what really happened. Zelena explains that she's there to keep Regina distracted while the Dark One takes Regina's heart. Regina throws a knife at Zelena, who teleports away.
At the Merry Men's camp, Gold demands that Robin give over Regina's heart. When Roland emerges from the woods, Gold magically drags the boy toward him and then starts to bury him in the dirt. Robin fires an arrow and Gold redirects it toward Roland. Out of options, Robin removes Regina's heart from its hiding place and hands it over. Gold says that he's sorry and sends the arrow at Roland, but then lets it fall as he teleports away.
Regina arrives at the camp and realizes what happened, and Robin apologizes for letting her down. She assures her that he doesn't have to apologize, and figures that if Zelena needs her heart for something other than murder, they have to stop her.
At the pawnshop, Regina is searching through the items when belle comes in. Regina explains that Zelena can't control her with the heart, but she needs to take her out before she uses it. She asks Belle to help her, but Belle points out that Regina has physically and mentally tortured her since they've known each other. Regina concedes that she did those things in the past, but right now she needs to defeat Zelena and free Gold. She apologizes for what she did and Belle reluctantly explains that she's tried to identify the spell and needs to know what is so special about Regina's heart. Regina says that she doesn't know, but then starts looking for the two-sided candle Snow used to kill Cora. Belle produces it but notes that its power is gone, and Regina explains that it's important to find out how Cora lived.

Gold warns her that she doesn't, but Zelena assures him that the baby will be there at any time. When he refuses to cooperate, Zelena tells him that she can use his dagger to force him, or he can cooperate. She walks off, leaving Gold to consider.
Regina explains that she will perform a ritual and needs the murder weapon and the murderer. She lights the candle and everyone joins hands as Regina tells them to focus on Cora. A wind picks up out of nowhere and the fireplace flames go out. A portal opens above them and Regina calls to her mother, asking for a sign. Hook apparently jerks, hitting the table and breaking the circle, and the portal closes. The spell ends and Regina realizes that her mother won't talk to her.

Zelena explains that her secret will reunite Gold with his long-lost son, and assures him that Neal is alive... in the past. She plans to change history and assures Gold that the problem isn't the fact that the spell can't be cast, but that no one has been powerful enough to do it. They realize that Zelena is going back to kill Eva so that Mary Margaret will never be born. Regina points out that if that happens, Emma and Henry won't be born, and Regina may not have been as well. David realizes that the unborn child is the key and vows to stop Zelena.
