I'm Gonna Be King of the Pirates! - Recap

Next Episode -->
- TITLE CARD -

The scene switches to a dance on said ship. A girl named Nami is looking out the window, as she is asked to dance.

The sailors try to toss a fishing hook at the barrel but miss. They are teased by another sailor on the look-out on the ship's mast. But then they finally reel it in. The look-out sailor then spots a pirate ship attacking them.

The sailors enter the dance to warn everyone. The captain tries to give orders, but everyone just runs around screaming... except Nami.

The pirate ship's captain is Lady Alvida, who asks Koby who the prettiest is. He says Lady Alvida, of course.

The ship is still under attack as Nami runs around the ship, and a barrel rolls around the ship. Afraid of the ship, Nami hides. The pirates board the other ship, prepared to attack, except Koby, who claims he's not good with these things. Koby is threatened with the Iron Club Punishment for not going over there.

In the dance room, the pirates threaten to steal everyone's valuables. Nami is hiding behind a corner watching.

Koby is hiding in the kitchen. He finds a very large barrel.

Meanwhile, Nami is investigating Alvida's ship and finds a guy who hasn't seen her before. She kicks him over.

On the other ship, Koby is pushing the barrel around and is caught by the pirates. Koby just says he was trying to steal the barrel, the pirates agree to "make it lighter" because they are thirsty. Koby objects because Alvida probably will, but the pirates want to do it anyway. One of the pirates tries to break the barrel, when a boy in a straw hat comes out. No one has any idea whom he is, nor does he have any idea who anyone is, or why anyone is there. The pirates prepare to slash him, but you see the knifes flying into the ceiling. The boy introduces himself as Monkey D. Luffy. The pirates then run off. Coby warns Luffy to run, but Luffy doesn't care (he cares more about something to eat). Luffy and Koby hide in a hold, and Luffy runs off in search of food and finds some. Koby asks Luffy some questions but he's not even listening. Koby explains that this is not a pirate ship - rather a regular ship being raided by pirates.

Koby explains how he became a pirate. He went out fishing on a boat and ended up setting sail. Koby can't run away now because he's afraid of Lady Alvida catching him.

Meanwhile, Alvida and her pirate crew are looting the ship and Alvida will punish them with the Iron Club if they don't. Two of them tell Alvida about Luffy and get the Iron Club.

- COMMERCIAL BREAK -

Luffy tells Koby that he wants to become the Pirate King, and searching for the elusive treasure, One Piece. Koby doubts he can do it because all the pirates are after One Piece. But Luffy is too confident and will become the Pirate King if it kills him. Then he goes off to get a boat, but Koby tells Luffy that his dream is to join the Navy so he can get back at Alvida. But then Alvida has overheard them and breaks through the ceiling, then speaks of the great pirate hunter, Zolo. Luffy calls Alvida fat, getting her mad at him. Luffy grabs Koby and escapes, and then somehow stretches himself out to fight the pirate crew. So the pirates run after him, then he hangs on to a mast, stretches his arm out to the end of the ship and flies back, knocking out the pirates with his Gum Gum Rocket.

Luffy explains that he is a rubber human, and Alvida says that he ate Gum Gum, the Devil's Fruit which turned him to rubber. Luffy says that he is a lone pirate recruiting a crew to help him find One Piece and become the Pirate King. Koby insults Alvida and says that he'll join the Navy and capture her. Alvida tries to hit Koby with the club (Koby does not regret saying that), but Luffy takes the attack, gets hit on the straw hat on his head, and doesn't get hurt. So he attacks Alvida with his Gum Gum Pistol attack, knocking her off the ship. She falls on the other fat pirate guy.

Now it's time to give Koby a boat. He's going to join the Navy now. But then the Navy is attacking the ship. Luffy jumps off.
