The Red Footed Pirate - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
He recognizes Zeff as "Red-footed Zeff," the pirate with the deadly kick that could break stone, leave dents in steel, and was red-footed from all the blood that was left on his feet. He realizes that Zeff has been on the Grand Line for a year, and he demands Zeff's Sea Journal where he documented his journey for that year on the Grand Line.

Don Kreig goes off on having enough men, power, and weapons, but not enough information. That not even all his men and power were able to succeed, but with the journal, he will. Patti attacks him with his lobster-gun, but Don Kreig reveals the source of his power: his golden armor. Don Kreig has unbeatable golden armor with diamond fist covers and movable parts. He has weapons hidden all over it, and Patti's attack does nothing. Don Kreig laughs off the attack and makes the same demands.

Zeff, of course, refuses, but gives Don Kreig the food and water for his men. Don Kreig declares with the journal and his power he will find One Piece and become the Pirate King.

Of course, Luffy can't handle that, and he steps forward, and tells Don Kreig that he's mistaken, because he, Luffy, is going to be the Pirate King. Don Kreig laughs, and then trouble starts to brew when Zoro and Usopp show up. Don Kreig laughs his ass off when he realizes that this is Luffy's whole crew. Luffy shrugs and says there's two more (Sanji yells, "Oi! Don't include me!!").

Don Kreig laughs harder, eyes Zeff's face, and tells the cooks they have an hour to clear out. He takes off to feed his crew.

The cooks get pissed and refuse to leave, most of them saying they had nowhere to go.

Confused about Don Kreig's statement on being defeated and Gin's denying he knew anything about Grand Line, Luffy asks Gin why he lied. Gin denies lying because the truth is he really doesn't know anything.

He relates how they had only been out there a week when Don Kreig's entire fleet was destroyed by one man, and the only reason the head ship survived was a lucky freak storm. Everyone freaks out about the story, except Zeff, Luffy, and Zoro, the latter two being so excited they could wet their pants, and Usopp already dousing his at the thought. Puss.

Meanwhile, outside, the pirates have eaten and revived. They are ready to make good their get-away, when Don Kreig tells them they are taking the Baratie and going back to the Grand Line.

One pirate protests, and is shot for his insolence. As they talk, a lone flatbed boat with one wee sail and eerie green flame candles floats close to them.

A man with a giant sword whose grip looks like a cross strapped to his back has floated up. There's a zing noise, like air being cut, and the giant ship starts breaking apart.

The crews on both the Baratie and Don Kreig's ships freak out as the destruction of the ship has created huge waves. The waves batter the ship, and Luffy, Zoro, and Usopp realize that Nami and the Going Merry are in danger!

They rush outside to find Johnny and Yosaku floating along, crying, because Nami tricked them and knocked them off the ship.

Not only that, but she took all the treasure AND the ship and disappeared. Freaked out, all three guys are pretty pissed, but Luffy tells Zoro to take Johnny, Yosaku, and Usopp and go get Nami.

Zoro refuses, saying that she was bound to betray them. Luffy says he needs her to navigate the ship and there's a brief staring contest (or mind reading contest. you can't tell with these two) and Zoro caves.
