Not Afraid - Recap

Quinn wakes from a horrible dream. Everybody was a vampire, even Jamie.
She settles her nerves by looking at a gun in the drawer.

Haley walks into the kitchen and tells Jamie she'll be handing out candy
this year, instead of apples. She thinks she's talking to Jamie, because
he's wearing a clown mask. When Jamie walks in, the masked boy turns out
to be his friend, Chuck.

Clay and Nathan are talking sports.

Millie brings Mouth a pumpkin and wishes him a happy Halloween. She asks
if he wants to hang out later, and he says sure; sounds good. When she
walks away, Chase asks Mouth if and Millie are back together, and Mouth
says no; just friends. Chase thinks Mouth is reading Millie wrong.

Mia comes up to the bar and apologizes to Chase for the fact that Alex
left town. Chase tells her that she wanted Alex gone, and now she's
gone. So Mia can stop pretending like she cares.

Haley is at the crisis center answering calls. The repeat caller calls.
She finally tells Haley her name, Erin. Haley asks Erin how she is
doing. Erin says something Haley doesn't quite catch. When she asks Erin
to repeat it, Erin says it's a word that means "Cheers."

Brooke is reading a magazine on the couch when Julian walks in. He calls
her 'beautiful' and she says she doesn't feel beautiful. He offers to go
get a mirror, because seeing her reflection should take care of that.
Brooke is not feeling good about herself. Julian asks if she wants to
talk about, and Brooke says there's nothing TO talk about; it's gone.
Clothes Over Bros, everything she worked so hard to build. Gone. Julian
says not all of it, and gives her a talking to. Clothes Over Bros came
from her, and that was what was inside her. That's still there, she
didn't sign it away. Brooke responds that Clothes Over Bros WAS her.
Without it, she doesn’t even know who she is anymore. He says that's the
perk for today. It's Halloween. Brooke can be anyone she wants today. As
the doorbell rings, they kiss.

A women knocks on the door. Brooke opens it and women says “trick or
treat” and Brooke responds "Aren’t you too old to be trick or treating?"
She is humiliated when she finds out that the woman is Julian’s mom.

Clay and Nathan are working out together. Clay uses his gunshot wound as
an excuse to go easy on himself. In his estimation, gunshot wounds trump
everything. He says he's been thinking about that quarterback, Troy
Jamerson. Nate asks if he's going to go talk to him, and Clay says Nope.
But you are.

Chuck (Ron) and Madison (Hermione) are sitting on Jamie’s bed waiting
for him to come out in his Harry Potter costume. When Jamie comes out,
Chuck makes fun of him, but Madison says he's cute. Chuck says Hermione
has a crush on Ron, everybody knows it. Jamie thoroughly embarrasses
Chuck by discussing how he had peed himself one time. If it happens
again, they have a washer and dryer there at the house.

Quinn walks in to find Clay sitting on the bed with a big bowl of candy.
He tells Quinn that he wants the kids to be able to pick out their own
candy. When he was a kid, he hated when the owner of the house gave them
whatever candy they wanted to, and he couldn't choose his own. Clay
notices she's on edge and asks if she's okay. Quinn says yes, but she
hasn't been sleeping well lately. She agrees to dress up and try and
have some fun.

Nathan meets Troy. Troy talks about Nathan playing basketball back in
the day. He says he really loved his retirement speech, especially the
part about when your heart is willing, but your body says no. Nathan
asks him what about when your heart is willing, but your agents say no.
Troy asks if Nathan thinks he's making a mistake. Nathan tells him that
he is not judging about what his agents are telling him to do with his
football career but he asks Troy whose holdout is this; his, or his
agents? Troy said after all this time, Nathan is the first person to ask
that question.

Julian is out with his mom. She thinks Brooke may be a little high
maintenance, which wouldn't be a problem if she hadn't just lost all of
her money. Brooke arrives, and she's ready to share some wedding ideas.

Millie shows up again. She asks Mouth where the mini pumpkin is. When he
feigns not knowing, she asked if he tried to carve it, and he says yes.
He asks what's up, and she says she was just swinging by to say hi.
Mouth says he just wants to make sure they're on the same page. He loves
hanging out with her, but it's not serious. He's not ready to jump back
into anything. She says it's cool, now she knows where they stand.

Julian's mom wants to help with the wedding, financially. Brooke doesn't
know what to say, Julian tries to say no. They accept.

Quinn and Clay get their first trick-or-treaters. Quinn is Super Quinn,
and Clay is Edward Cullen. While he's giving the kids candy, Quinn
panics because she thinks she saw Katie on the monitor. She hauls Clay
back in and slams the door. When he opens the door again, the kids' mom
is outside. She sort of looks a tiny bit like Katie, but that's about it.

Nathan comes home to find the kids waiting to go trick-or-treating.
Haley hasn't even bought their costumes yet. They agree that couples
costumes suck, and she won't be buying a set. She meets up with Brooke,
who says she and Julian are doing the couple costume thing. Since he
hates Halloween she is making it easy for him. He will be a clock and
she will be an orange. Clockwork Orange, get it? Haley doesn't. She's
read the book, she just doesn't think the concept will translate.

Clay finds Quinn looking out the window. He thought she was doing
better. Clay tells her that they can’t live in fear. She says she can’t
sleep. Every night she has nightmares. Every night she checks the
security alarms. Quinn is living in fear. Clay asks why she didn’t tell
him. She tells him she didn't want to interfere with his healing. He
asks if it's the beach house because if it is, they can move. Clay
thinks she should take the photo assignment in South Africa and get away
from Tree Hill for a few weeks. She tells him she'll think about it. He
tells her he loves her, and they hug.


Chuck asks Madison if she's noticed he has twice as much candy as Jamie.
Jamie points out that Chuck takes handfuls, instead of the one he's
supposed to take. Chuck wants to know if they're almost done, because
his candy bag is getting way heavy. They come up to a creepy house.
Chuck starts telling a scary story about the owner of the house, but
Nathan points out that story is Hansel & Gretel. Chuck changes the
story, and Nathan tells him to knock it off. There's nobody in that
house chopping up kids. Chuck says Nathan is probably right, so he sends
Jamie and Madison up to the door, as he'd like to live long enough to
eat all his candy. They pass, and go to the next house.

Brooke comes home and calls Julian's name. He walks out in a dog
costume; Dalmation, to be specific. She asks why he is dressed like a
dog, and he says she'll find out in about three seconds. His mom comes
down, dressed as Cruella DeVille. Julian says now Brooke knows why he
hates his mom.

Nathan and the kids are at the last house of the night. A man calls out
Nathan's name and shakes his hand, saying that he is a huge Bobcats fan.
Nathan says he thinks they're going to have a good year. The man says he
bets Nathan would give anything to be playing tonight. Nathan looks at
Jamie and his friends, smiling and having a great time, and says no.
Actually not really. Happy Halloween.

Nathan shows up at Tric, dressed as Don Draper. Mia asks Chase what he
thinks of her costume, Chase gives her a look and says Little Mermaid.
She says nope! Just a plain old mermaid. He looks at Haley and says
pregnant cheerleader. Haley say yep I’m me in high school. Haley asks
Chase why he didn't dress up. He tells her he's dressed up as a guy who
keeps getting dumped. Mia introduces open mic night.

Mouth asks what Millie is and she walks away, saying she is a free
bitch. Brooke, who is an orange, says Lady Gaga and ask for a drink not
made by Chase. Mouth says he is sorry she had to close Clothes Over
Bros. Mouth doesn’t comprehend Brooke's costume.

Julian introduces Chase to his mom. Chase say he just made a new
Halloween cocktail. Julian tells her she shouldn't, but his mom says
she’ll try it. It's a horrible drink.

Chase asks Julian if he has talked to Alex. Julian tells Chase about his
'starting over' documentary.

There are lots of trick or treaters at Clay and Quinn's. When a light
bulb burns out, Clay goes to find a flash light. When he looks in the
drawer, he finds Quinn's gun.

Jamie and the kids are home and emptying out their bags of candy. Chuck
has the most. He says unless there is one more house and dares Jamie to
go back to the creepy house that they skipped earlier. After a bit of
pressuring by Chuck, Jamie agrees. He won’t ring the bell, so Chuck goes
and knocks on the door. As he turns around to brag someone opens it and
pulls him in. Jamie and Madison scream. Chuck comes out with a knife in
his head, accompanied by a man with a hockey mask on. He starts to
laugh and thanks his Uncle.

Haley is holding her ears and closing her eyes as clowns are singing to
her. Mia says it is the last number coming out to sing. A girl at the
piano begins to sing. Haley turns around and stands up.

Chase comes up and apologizes to Mia for snapping at her. Mia says she
is glad Alex is gone. Chase can do better. She says that she knows the
right girl is out there for him.

Mouth walks up to Millie and asks if she is ready to go. She say she has
already found another ride.

When the girl stops playing Haley is standing there and thanks her. The
girls says thank you, Slainte back. Haley recognizes the phrase she uses
and says Cheers.

Julian's mother becomes more demanding with how she thinks the wedding
should be planned.

Clay tells Quinn again that he wants her to take the photo assignment.
He pulls out her camera and tells her it can save her. He pulls out the
gun and tells her it can't. Quinn says she will go, but he has to
promise he will be alright. He says he will, and they hug.

Jamie is asleep on the floor in the living room, and Nathan is sitting
on the couch. Haley walks in and is shocked to see Nathan watching the
final 4 basketball game from back in the day. He says he is watching
basketball because he needed a reminder. Now that basketball is over he
wonders if he'll ever find anything again that he's just as good at.
Haley says she's not worried. She know he will find something. Nathan
kisses her. Haley says hurry up let's finish it. He tells her she knows
how it ends. She wasn't talking about the game.
