I Think I'm Gonna Like It Here - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
Haley and Quinn are looking at pictures. Brooke is surrounded by shower
gifts. Clay and Nate sit outside. Somebody appears to be late for a
meeting with them. Jamie is ready for a ball game. Millie touches up her
makeup. Brooke practices what she can say to the adoption people. She
intends to lie about her parents. She tells Julian it's crazy that they
got a call so fast. She asks him to promise to follow her lead today,
and he agrees.

Clay doesn't want to wait for Ian Kellerman anymore. Nate says he would
have done the same thing, back in the day. Clay says he wouldn't have
signed him, and Nate says he would have regretted it.

Haley bounces in, dressed like Jamie. She's all excited, she has a new
game to watch, a new lingo to learn. He tells her there are no whistles
in baseball, and she says there are now.

Millie is ready for work. Mouth is supportive, but she feels bad because
she got his job. He's very sure that he's happy for her. She'll be
great. After she leaves, the smile falls off his face. She runs back in
for a hug and goodbye kiss. This time, the smile stays put.

Quinn is holding a hairbrush that has "My Girl" engraved on the back.
She's going to give it to Haley, since she's having a girl. Clay thinks
maybe she should keep it, but Quinn thinks it will mean a lot to Haley.
They're interrupted by a phone call. It's Haley, she's stalking her. And
Quinn can't hang out with her because she has to go help Brooke set up.
Clay suggests she lie about rotating her tires. Haley says she'd love to
come along.

Brooke and Julian take their meeting. The birth mom asks what they do
for a living, and Brooke gives their old jobs. She says Julian is a big
time film director, and she's a clothing designer. She asks about
grandparents, and Julian goes to tell the truth, but Brooke kicks him
again.

After they leave, Brooke thinks it went well but Julian wishes they
could have been themselves.

Brooke is jumping on the bed to celebrate the fact that they're getting
a baby. Julian wonders when the shower is. She says whenever Quinn gets
Haley there. He says those surprise things never work out, so it's not
'when' she gets Haley here, it's 'if'.

Haley and Nate talk about Jamie going to tryouts. He kisses her goodbye.
They don't have a baby name yet, but she has an idea she wants to run
past somebody else first. She calls Quinn, who yells "You're smothering
me!!" and hangs up. Julian says he's leaving to go to Jamie's baseball
tryouts. Haley calls back and Quinn tells her she's en route. So now, no
more excuses. She leaves. Brooke says she can finish up alone.

Chuck has a tantrum and runs off the field. Ian finally arrives, not
knowing the name of the woman he's with. Clay gets it for him. Ian gives
Jamie advice. Stare down the pitcher, and at the last second, smile at
him. It freaks him out. Ian leaves and says he'll be back at 3:00. Nate
reiterates that 3:00 means 3:00.

Quinn tells Haley they're going to Brooke's for second half of girl's
day, and she says no. Quinn is taken aback. Haley says she hasn't had
the house to herself for forever. She asks Quinn if it's okay to name
her baby after their mom. She remembers Quinn saying she wanted to name
her first daughter Lydia. Quinn is fine with Haley using the name. They hug.

Chuck is up to bat. He doesn't do well, and blames the pitcher. Jamie
does great.

Mouth is eating a cup o'noodles when Millie gets home. She's
overwhelmed. She doesn't know how to write her own stories. Mouth laughs.

They announce the Little League, and Madison makes the team, as does
Jamie. So does Chuck!

Haley lays out an ice cream party for Jamie. Quinn can't get her out of
the house for Brooke's surprise party. She begs the boys to help her,
and the kids to eat faster, so she can get Haley to the party. She
finally cracks and tells Haley the truth. Please act surprised. She
does, but Brooke sees right through it.

Clay and Nate fill Julian in on Ian. They get to the boat he's on, and
he says it's his dad's. Nate prefers they talk to him at a bar.

Haley gets to wear a tiara, since she's the mum-to-be. Alex asks when
her shower is going to be, since obviously she'll be getting engaged any
minute now. Brooke overhears and wants all the details, but Quinn
changes the subject back to Haley.

Ian tells the guys he got off on the wrong foot with his old man, just
like Nate. Julian thinks maybe it can be fixed, but Ian doesn't believe
it. He only cares about three things. Books, his dog, and that boat.
Nate has to admit, the dog is pretty cool. Nate asks about Ian's mom. He
says she was very smart. She had the good sense to divorce and die
before Kellerman could make her any more miserable.

The shower continues, and Quinn gives her the brush. It's a major teary
moment.

Ian and Nate bond over dads with failed dreams. Ian excuses himself to
go to the bathroom, and Clay asks Julian why he's been so zen today. He
tells them about meeting with the birth mom. He thinks it went well.

For some reason Haley wants somebody to chug a beer for her since she
can't drink herself. Brooke chugs her way to the door and opens it to
the birth mom. She explains about the baby shower. Chloe comes bearing
cookies to thank them for taking the last-minute meeting with her. She
tries to leave, but Brooke insists. Chloe introduces herself to
everybody. Millie shows her around. Brooke fills Haley in, and she
squeals her happiness. Everybody turns around to look at her.

Quinn tells everybody that she's not ready to get married. She doesn't
want to rush into anything. It might be different if she got pregnant.
Chloe looks a bit rocked, but she maintains.

Ian continues his dad slams through rounds with the guys.

Millie makes it very clear to Chloe that Brooke is unemployed. She's
supposed to be chatting up her job, but she says it's over her head and
she could be joining Brooke in the unemployment line by the end of the
week. Brooke's mom shows up and obviously she's not the woman Brooke
described in her interview. Victoria rambles on about going to prison,
while Alex tells her to have a martini and calm down. Everybody at the
party says they've been to jail. Haley makes a toast to Brooke to thank
her for saving Jamie's life and for being his godmother.

Chloe prepares to leave, and Brooke sends the plate along. She
apologizes for all the lies and half-truths in their meeting. She gets
the whole judging thing, since Chloe is 19 and pregnant. Brooke isn't,
and she knows better. Chloe tells her to be honest now, then. She gives
Chloe her life in a nutshell. She tells her how much she's always wanted
to be a mom, and she knows Julian will be a great dad. Chloe thanks her
for her honesty, and tells her she'll think about it.

Nate finds a drunk Ian out pitching. His dad has only ever been to one
of his games. One. He says the one place his dad can't get to him is
right here, on the mound. He says there's a certain beauty in knowing
what he can do, but not knowing how it works. Nate gets it. They'll be
his agents. It might upset his dad a bit. "Perfect."

Mouth wrote a couple of stories for Millie, he thought it might help. He
also set up the camera so they can practice. She declares him the best
roommate ever.

Brooke fills Julian in on the Chloe tragedy. They're sad, and hold each
other.

Nate gets home and sees the baby present haul. She tells him the baby's
name is going to be Lydia. It's perfect.

Clay and Quinn are driving home. She's lost in thought. She asks him to
pull over.

Jamie runs down and shows Haley his uniform. He made the baby a present.
A baseball to tell Lydia he can't wait to play catch with her.

Quinn is walking, Clay follows her. Something about the place is
familiar. She's flashing on their history, a different place and time.

Chloe arrives again. She has something to tell them. She's reached a
decision. She picked them.
