Episode Quotes
Lucas: You're looking for betrayal? Look to yourself!
Haley: What's that supposed to mean?
Lucas: Nathan.
Haley: I did that for you!
Lucas: Me!? Are you thinking your doing it for me everytime you're sticking your tongue down his throat?
Haley: Next time you see me, don't talk to me!
Lucas: Fine!
Haley: Fine!
Lucas: Look Haley, can I tell you something?
(Brooke bounces into the room)
Brooke: Hey boyfriend. Hey tutor girl.
Haley: Hey Tigger.
Nathan: What's wrong?
Haley: I had a little disagreement with Lucas.
Nathan: About me?
Haley: No. Um, just the way he's been acting. He's really disappointing me. (Nathan laughs) What?
Nathan: Nothing it's just, kind of ironic.
Haley: What's ironic?
Nathan: Lucas being a jerk.
Haley: How is that ... how is that ironic?
Nathan: Well 'cause that used to be my role right? I mean this whole thing started 'cause I was just trying to mess with Lucas. It's kinda weird, that's all. (Haley looks away, hurt)
(about Lucas in the hospital after the accident)
Doctor: He's a minor?
Dan: Yes.
Doctor: He's going to need surgery.
Dan: Whatever you need to do, doc.
Doctor: You're his legal guardian?
(pause)
Dan: He's my son.
Haley: Yeah, I saw you kissing Peyton, which is a real jackass move considering the fact that you have a girlfriend named Brooke.
Lucas: I know.
Haley: What you're doing is wrong. You know, I don't like the person you're becoming.

Analysis
This episode is the first time in which Dan claims Lucas as his son and refers to Lucas as his son instead of "that kid" or by his first name. His actions of pulling both Keith and Lucas from the wreckage and taking them to the hospital in order to save their lives shows a part of Dan that hasn't been seen in previous episodes -- deep down Dan does have fatherly feelings towards Lucas and brotherly feelings towards Keith despite his deliberately hurtful actions in the past.
