Lucas narrates the opening scene while Ravens are flying through the sky. The scene cuts to the playoff basketball game where Mouth is reporting for ravenshoops.com. Dan gives the team a pep-talk in the locker room before they head to the court.

Flashback to the river court. Lucas takes a shot and misses. Nathan tells him that all of his training for the playoffs will mean nothing if he can’t hit the shot. Nathan passes Lucas the ball and this time he hits the shot. He asks Nathan what’s bothering him, and he responds that Haley still isn’t talking to him.

Haley’s sitting on a bench outside of Tree Hill High looking through pictures on her picture phone. Dan walks up behind her and accuses Haley of manipulating Nathan. As Dan walks away, he comments on Haley’s tattoo.

At the basketball game, Mouth narrates before the opening tip-off. While Mouth talks, Dan glances up to the stands to see Karen sitting with Deb. The team warms up.

Flashback to Deb going over her divorce papers. Just as she’s about to sign, Dan walks in behind her. They argue about their past together and Dan tells her that he was leaving school to come back to Karen, but his plans changed when he found out that Deb was also pregnant.

Back at the game, Nathan asks Lucas if he’s seen Haley. Lucas tells him no.

Flashback to Peyton dropping off Haley at home in the rain. Haley gets out of the car and sees Nathan on her front porch. Nathan tells her that he went on a run to clear his head and ended up at her house. Nathan explains that the pictures on his computer didn’t mean anything, and he didn’t tell her this because he was embarrassed that he didn’t do it a long time ago. Haley asks him if that’s it. Nathan replies: "You know, my pride says, 'Yeah that's it, just walk away, and let Haley deal with the fact that she's clearly threatened by a sexual relationship.' But my heart says, 'Just forget about your pride, you idiot, you love this girl, and even if you're going to catch pneumonia, your ass is gong to stand out here in the rain until you convince her to forgive you.'" Haley asks him why she should forgive him, and he responds that he’s sorry and he loves her and she’s looking really hot in the rain. They kiss in the rain.

Cut to the gym where Haley walks in and sits down next to Keith. Dan gives the team another pep-talk before tip-off. As they take the court, Dan yells at Lucas for not having a name on his jersey. Lucas turns around and tells him that he does have a name on his jersey. He points to the word “Ravens” on the front of his jersey.

Flashback to Lucas visiting Dan in Whitey’s office. Lucas tells him that he’s sorry for resenting him and how he didn’t know that Dan wanted custody. He apologizes for never thanking him for saving him the night of the accident. Dan tells Lucas he should be in the gym. Lucas leaves.

Back to the present where the teams line up for the tip-off. One of the other team’s players tells Lucas he better watch his shoulder. The Ravens win the tip-off as Mouth gives the play-by-play.

Flashback to Brooke at the bar. Nicki sits down beside her and Brooke tells her that the seat is reserved for her friend Peyton. “Friend?”, Nicki asks. “As far as she knows”, Brooke responds. Brooke tells Nicki she’ll tell her where Jake is if she buys her a drink. The scene cuts back to Brooke winking at Peyton as they cheer.

Mouth continues giving the play-by-play as the cheerleaders yell “defense”. A Masonboro dunks the ball over Lucas. Karen glances over at Keith.

Flashback to Keith’s apartment. Keith is looking at a picture of him, Karen, and baby Lucas. He asks Karen if she ever loved him. They argue about Karen’s feelings and Keith tells her that he can’t live seeing her alone. The scene cuts back to Karen staring at Keith at the game. Nathan dunks the ball; Peyton and Brooke exchange glances.

Flashback to Peyton’s bedroom. Brooke tells Peyton that she can trust her. The scene cuts to the bar where Nicki and Brooke talk about getting Peyton to tell Brooke where Jake took Jenny. Cut back to the game. Lucas alley-oops to Nathan, who dunks the ball. The crowd rises to their feet as the team races to the other end of the court, but Karen remains seated.

Flashback to Karen and Lucas in his bedroom. Karen’s crying and Lucas comes over to comfort her. They talk about Lucas wanting to leave Tree Hill and how Karen isn’t ready to let him go. Lucas tells her that he needs a chance to start over. Cut to Keith’s apartment where Karen tells Keith that she’s letting Lucas go with Keith to Charleston because she trusts him with Lucas’ life.

Flashback to Nathan and Haley at Nathan’s apartment. Nathan hands Haley a towel and they talk about their walk in the rain. Haley looks at Nathan and begins to take her shirt off. They fall to the bed together kissing.

Halftime at the game, Ravens are up by five. As they run the court, one of the Masonboro players intentionally runs into Lucas’ bad shoulder. Lucas collapses to the floor in pain and Nathan defends Lucas by shoving the Masonboro player. A fight breaks out between the teams.

Flashback to the bar. Brooke and Peyton are sitting together and Peyton tells Brooke that Jake took Jenny to Savannah. Brooke tells Peyton she’s glad that she told her. Cut to Nathan’s room where Haley and Nathan are talking about having sex. Haley worries that it would drive them apart, but Nathan assures her that it won’t change anything. They agree to be together after the game.

In the locker room, Dan yells at the team for only being up by five points. He points out each of the players’ weaknesses then goes to check on Lucas. The doctor tells him that Lucas can’t play. Dan ignores him and goes over to Lucas and tells him that the doctor said he’d be fine. Nathan overhears. Lucas tells Dan he’ll be fine and Dan tells the doctor they’ll get an x-ray after the game. Nathan comes over to check on Lucas and reminds him that “all this means nothing if you can't knock down that shot.”

Flashback to Nathan and Lucas walking to visit Whitey. They discuss Dan’s basketball career and how Dan benched himself during the state championship. They arrive at Whitey’s and give him a basketball autographed by all of the players on the team. They talk about practice with Dan and Whitey tells them to play with all their hearts, no regrets.

Second half of the game, and Masonboro is up by five. The clock ticks down and Mouth gives the play by play. Haley whispers “Oh man, I'm scared”.

Flashback to Haley walking through the cemetery. She shouts at Lucas and he jumps out from behind a headstone, scaring Haley. Haley smacks him in the stomach. Lucas tells Haley that he has to tell her something – after the game he’s moving to Charleston with Keith. Haley is sad as she tells him that it’s not fair and wonders who will do all they things they do together with her. Lucas tells her that Nathan will. They hug and Haley cries.

Back at the game, the Ravens are down by two. Masonboro puts the ball into play and the Ravens are able to steal the ball away. Nathan calls a time out. Dan gives them another pep-talk before they head back to the court. Lucas reminds Nathan that it means nothing if you can't knock down the shot. Lucas puts the ball into play. The clock counts down to three seconds. Nathan can’t get free of the double team so he passes to Lucas. Lucas steps into three-point range and takes a shot as the buzzer sounds. The ball bounces on the rim, but doesn’t go through. Lucas falls to his knees as the crowd sits down, stunned. Nathan pats Lucas on the back.

In the locker room, Dan yells at the team, telling them what a pathetic performance they put up. He tells Nathan to take off his jersey; he doesn’t deserve to wear it. Nathan takes his jersey off and yells back at Dan. He tells Dan that he put Lucas in despite knowing he shouldn’t have, but Lucas wasn’t a coward like Dan was. Nathan tells Dan that they played hard and have nothing to be ashamed about – except their coach. Nathan walks out of the room and tells Lucas “no regrets” as he leaves.

Keith visits Dan in Whitey’s office after the game. They talk about the loss and Keith tells Dan he’s leaving. Keith leaves.

Outside of the gym, Haley meets Lucas in the hallway. Lucas tells her that he’s leaving tomorrow and Haley starts to cry. Haley tells him that she really wanted to spend his last night with him, but she and Nathan have plans. They hug and Lucas tells her that he’ll find her tomorrow before he leaves. Haley leaves and gets into Nathan’s car. She starts to cry and Nathan tells her that they don’t have to do this tonight, but Haley tells him that she wants to. They drive off together.

At Deb’s, Deb sits by the fireplace burning Dan’s awards. Keith comes in and sits down by Deb. They talk about their broken relationships as Deb tosses more things into the fire.

Lucas is getting his shoulder examined. The doctor tells him that his injury would have sat him out for the rest of the season. Lucas tells Karen that he’s still leaving despite his injury. Lucas leaves to go visit Whitey. There they talk about the loss and how he has to let it go. Whitey tells Lucas to take care of Keith. They hug goodbye.

Dan comes into Deb’s house to find Deb and Keith wrapped up together, naked, in a blanket. Deb wakes up to see Dan starring at them and wakes Keith up, who is shocked to see Dan. Dan turns and walks out.

At the bar, Brooke and Nicki are playing pool. Brooke writes where Jake took Jenny on a napkin, shows it to Nicki, and then burns it. Nicki leaves and Peyton comes over. Brooke tells her that she told Peyton where Jake went – Seattle. Brooke and Peyton smile over sending Nicki on a wild-goose chase.

Keith drives over to the beach house to talk to Dan about what he saw. Keith tells him that that was the first time he had been with Deb. Dan, angry, punches the window out of his SUV. He tells Keith that he is no longer his brother and walks up to the beach house.

Nathan stops by the river court to say goodbye to Lucas. They talk about the missed shot and how they never thought that they would come this far since the one-on-one game they played at the beginning of the season. Lucas tells Nathan to take care of Haley and they hug goodbye.

The next morning, Lucas finishes packing. They sit on the bed and Karen tells him that no matter where he is, he’ll always be in the hearts of those who love him and that there is only one Tree Hill. They embrace before he leaves.

Brooke and Peyton are together in Peyton’s room and decide to do something good with the day. The camera pans to a letter taped to Peyton’s front door from Lucas.

At the beach house, Dan spins his wedding ring on the table before he signs the divorce papers. His phone rings and the screen shows a text message from Deb. As Dan starts to sign the paper, he grabs his chest and falls out of his chair to the ground. Dan seizes up and is unable to grab his phone.

The scene cuts to a montage: Whitey getting his test results; Nicki driving west towards Seattle; Karen sitting alone in Lucas’ room.

Deb races into the beach house to find Dan on the floor clutching his chest. Dan tells Deb that she’d better hope he dies.

Lucas knocks on Nathan’s apartment door. Nathan answers and invites Lucas in. Inside, Lucas sees Haley walk past the doorway with a sheet wrapped around her. She asks Nathan where his sweatshirt is. Haley walks into the room and Lucas tells her that he just wanted to say goodbye. Lucas looks uncomfortable as he tells Haley he’s okay with her sleeping with Nathan, but he thought that she wanted to wait until she was married to have sex. Haley tells him that they did wait. Lucas looks confused and Haley tells him that they got married last night. Nathan and Haley show Lucas their rings.

Keith and Lucas drive down the highway as the closing voiceover plays: ” Some people believe that ravens guide travelers to their destinations. Others believe that the sight of a solitary raven is considered good luck, while more than one raven together predicts trouble ahead”. As they drive, a flock of ravens fly over Keith and Lucas.
