As the town and the team prepare for the Ravens' first game of the season, Lucas worries that his heart isn't ready for the game especially after finding Brooke in bed with Chris Keller. Meanwhile, Peyton and Haley are able to put their differences aside to help Brooke; and as the mayoral campaign heats up, Dan's campaign turns negative.

  Episode Quotes
Lucas: (voiceover) Robert Lewis Stevenson wrote "You cannot run away from a weakness; you must sometimes fight it out or perish. And if that be so, why not now, and where you stand?"

(Nathan passes Lucas the ball, Lucas ducks and the ball hits Chris Keller in the head)
Nathan: Best play you've made all night.

Dan: 16 points, Nathan. Impressive. The scouts are thrilled, especially the deaf and blind ones. What a joke. You're all a joke and it seems my mistake is the punchline.
Nathan: You're the punchline, Dad.

Nathan: Your game sucks. Fix it.
Lucas: Your marriage sucks. Fix it.

Nathan: (to Lucas) Quit looking at Keller. We already know he can score.

Karen: (to Lucas) You know, a customer once told me that the best way to get over someone was to get under someone else. Oh my God! I just realized what that meant. Oh, my God! I thought it was more philosophical.

Chris: What, you're here to kick my ass 'cause I slept with Brooke?
Nathan: You slept with Brooke?
Chris: Why else would you be here?
Nathan: I came here to pay for Haley's studio time. You slept with Brooke?

  Episode Goofs
When Lucas is at the rivercourt with Dan, his collar changes from being flat around his tie to being popped up as to where his tie is visible between shots.

In Dan's mayoral campaign, he tries to make Karen out to be a bad person by noting that she had a child out of wedlock. However, Dan did as well.

When Chris Keller starts singing the National Anthem he is facing the American flag. When the camera cuts back to Keller, his back is to the flag.

The lockers in this episode are in different places then they were in "First Day on a Brand New Planet". During "First Day on a Brand New Planet", Lucas, Haley and Nathan's lockers were close together because they were alphabetical by last name, but in this episode Lucas' locker is closer to Brooke's than to Haley and Nathan's.

  Episode References
Dan: You missed again.

Nathan tells Lucas the same thing in "The Places You Have Come to Fear the Most" after Lucas "loses" his talent.

Peyton: It could be worse, It could say "dyke".

In "Don't Take Me For Granted", someone (who we later learn was Felix) paints the word "dyke" in red paint on Peyton's locker.

  Analysis
Painting the red door black

Lucas painting his red door black after discovering Brooke and Chris in bed together is a major symbol of their ended relationship. In "Something I Can Never Have" Brooke tells Lucas that she really liked being "the girl behind the red door" and doesn't want to move with her family to California. When Brooke is able to say in Tree Hill with Karen, Lucas paints his bedroom door red so she can still be "the girl behind the red door". With Lucas painting it black, he covers up a symbol of their relationship.
