Episode Quotes
Lucas: (voiceover) Regret comes in all shapes and sizes. Some are small, like when we do a bad thing for a good reason. Some are bigger like when we let down a friend. Some of us escape the pains of regret by making the right choice. Some of us have little time for regret because were looking forward to the future. Sometimes we have to fight to come to terms with the past, and sometimes we bury our regret by promising to change our ways. But our biggest regrets are not for the things we did but for the things we didn’t do, things we didn’t say that could have saved someone we care about. Especially when we can see the dark storm that’s headed their way.
Brooke: Well, I don't know who I hate more Mr. Chavez, you for being a lying bastard or me for betraying my friend and believing your crap.
(Haley is standing on a stool trying to get boxes out of the closet)
Nathan: Hey, come on. (takes her off of the stool)
Haley: Oh, hey, I'm getting that.
Nathan: You shouldn't be straining yourself. You can't risk falling and stuff.
Haley: Relax, I'm pregnant not elderly.
(about Peyton's latest wall painting)
Peyton: I have my guard dog.
Lucas: Yes, very disturbing.
Nathan: How did I get so lucky?
Haley: It helps that you're hot.
Nathan: Nah, I'll pass. I don't really like kids. Uh, I'll like our kid.
Haley: Yeah, yeah, get out of here you bum.
Haley: I wanna go to Duke with you.
Nathan: What?
Haley: I got my acceptance letter from Duke and um, it just made me think about what I want and what I want is to make you happy. More than anything else in the world. I want to go to Duke with you.
(one of the girls hugs Haley then leaves)
Haley: That was actually kinda sweet.
(Nathan pulls a "kick me" sign off her back)
Haley: Or not
Nathan: Still think you like kids?
Haley: I'll like our kid.
Karen: Hey Haley, how's the babysitting going?
Haley: It's, um, horrible. Listen, these kids are driving me crazy. The game's already started. I'm completely stressed out. It's everything I can do to keep from choking the life out of them. Karen, what am I doing wrong?
Karen: Do you want the truth?
Haley: Yes.
Karen: Nothing. You just gotta hang in there.
Analysis
Nathan turning to Lucas for help after making a deal with Daunte can be related to the "All These Things That I've Done" lyrics: "Yeah, you know you got to help me out / Yeah, oh don't you put me on the blackburner / You know you got to help me out / And when there's nowhere else to run / Is there room for one more son / These changes ain't changing me / The cold-hearted boy I used to be". As the lyrics suggest, Lucas has to help Nathan out of the bad circumstance he put himself and Haley into when Nathan comes to him for help after Dan refuses to give Nathan money. The final line suggests that even though Nathan made a deal with a dangerous guy, he did it for his marriage and Haley, unlike the selfish person he used to be who would have done it only for himself.
