Lucas has a sudden burst of inspiration for his writing and his editor, Lindsay, beings to wonder about the timing of this inspiration. Brooke and Peyton make business plans while Mouth continues to try to get on his boss's good side. Meanwhile, Lucas and Skills begin to get the Ravens on a winning path while Nathan continues to try to break free from Dan's legacy.

Lucas: The J.V. is the team in white. The blue yeah, those are mine. We're a work in progress.
Haley: Awkward. I'm gonna go to class now. I'll see you later.
Lucas: Haley, how's my little brother doing?
Haley: He's a work in progress.

Nathan: Of the way it's going to be from now on. I know it's going to take a lot more than dinner, but I figure it's a start right?
