Episode Quotes

(after Lucas proposes)
Lucas: You're saying no.
Peyton: No! I'm not saying no, I'm saying not now. I want to marry you someday. Hey, don't do that, don't pull away from me. Okay? I want us to be together. I love you so much.
Lucas: Just not enough.
Peyton: Can we take this back? Can we just pretend like you never woke up, please?
Lucas: I don't think we can.
Peyton: I'm afraid that this conversation is going to end with --
Lucas: -- goodbye.
Peyton: Don't! Come here. Our dreams are going to come true Lucas. My music and your novel. It's gonna happen, I know it.

Brooke: Luke, you still love her don't you? Peyton?
Lucas: I gotta get back to Lindsey.
(Lucas leaves)
Brooke: This is gonna get interesting.

Nathan: Say it again buddy. What is this? Huh? Ball. Ball.
Haley: See I'm telling you, the kid's gonna be a rockstar and a very well behaved rockstar. Right? Hey Jamie. Guitar.
Nathan: Ball.
Haley: Guitar.
Jamie: Ball.
Haley: Oh, no fair. Ball's so much easier than guitar.

Lindsey: But can I ask you something?
Lucas: Yeah.
Lindsey: The Luke and Peyton in the novel?
Lucas: No.
Lindsey: Huh. I'm sorry, I was rooting for them.

Lucas: So 37 years of coaching, where does this one rank?
Whitey: This would be number 3. Number 2 was your high school championship.
Lucas: What was the first?
Whitey: The first was the night Camilla agreed to join a scrawny kid just embarking on a 37 year coaching career.
Lucas: There's more important things in life than basketball.

Haley: You should never be ashamed of your achievements.
Nathan: The only thing I'm ashamed of is the person I've been for the past few months. That's all going to change. I know we're not the couple we used to be, but we're going to get there, I know it.

Whitey: Lucas, you were always a great player, but you're an even better coach.

Episode Goofs

During the episode, Lucas has an iPhone as his cell phone. Since the majority of the episode is said to have occurred three years prior, the iPhone wouldn't have been around. Also, in present day scenes, Lucas has the same iPhone, so if the flashback scenes did occur in 2007, the present day scenes would be in 2010, and it would be highly improbable that Apple would have the exact same iPhone design for 3 years.

Cultural References

Episode Title: I Forgot to Remember to Forget

"I Forgot to Remember to Forget" is the title of a song by several artists, including Elvis Presley and The Beatles.

Episode References

The song that Peyton sends Lucas after they win the college championship is the same song that played when the Ravens won the State Championship in "Some You Give Away".

In the flashback scenes, Lucas gives Lindsay a lucky bamboo. In "My Way Home is Through You", Lindsay gives both Peyton and Brooke a lucky bamboo.

Lucas: You should consider the fade away.
Nathan: Fade away is weak man.

Lucas and Nathan have a similar conversation about the fade away in "Spirit in the Night."
