Bo Ryder, played by Josh Henderson (1)
Prior to joining the Army, Bo attended Texas A&M on a partial football scholarship. However, Bo wasn't able to pay the rest of his tuition, so he dropped to join the Army in order to be able to use the GI Bill once his enlistment was up.
Bo was shipped out to Iraq when he was 20 years old, leaving behind a wife and a son. During the first episode of the series, Bo’s truck hit a landmine and the explosion severely injuring Bo's leg. After receiving medical attention, the doctors concluded that Bo's leg couldn't be saved and was amputated shortly after.
But despite his injury, Bo is determined to get back into the Army. But before he can do so, Bo has to overcome his feeling of helplessness and the pain involved in learning to use his new prosthetic leg. But with the encouragement and support of his wife and young son, Bo is constantly improving and adjusting to life with his new leg. |
