Oz

Oz

Oz is about the daily events inside a prison. In the series you get to follow Augustus Hill (Harold Perrineau, Jr.), our wheelchair-bound friend, who takes us through the daily life in Emerald City, a cell block in Oz. During the 6 seasons all aspects of life in a correctional facility are explored, from the violence, drugs, sex, and wars between gangs. The main gangs in Oz are: The Aryan Brotherhood, lead by white supremacist Vernon Schillinger (J. K. Simmons); the Muslims, lead by Kareem Said (Eamonn Walker); the Homeboys lead by Simon Adebisi (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), Kenny Wangler (J. D. Williams) and Poet (muMs); the Others; the Italians, lead by Antonio Nappa and Chucky Pancamo; the Latinos lead by Miguel Alvarez (Kirk Acevedo), Raoul Hernandez (Luis Guzman) and Enrique Morales; the Irish, lead by Ryan O'Reily; and the Gays.

There's always something going on between the gangs and even though Warden Leo Glynn (Ernie Hudson) and the cell block manager McManus (Terry Kinney) try to stop it with all methods, nothing seems to prevent it.

Raw, brutal, but highly addictive ...Rating: 7 likes, 0 dislikes

What is it that makes HBO's ultra volatile men in prison drama Oz such compulsively addictive viewing? Perhaps it's the layers of story lines being told over one another, perhaps it's the fact that this is one of the finest ensemble casts ever assembled, or, possibly, because one is so shocked at what is seen on screen that they anxiously, or dreadfully, await to see just who gets shanked next or what else develops. Whatever the case, Oz remains one of the best shows to ever grace HBO, and one of the most underrated. Read more
