A young woman, Tsukiko Sagi, the creator of a wildly popular character 'Maromi', is attacked by a mysterious figure. Once two police detectives, Keiichi Ikari and Mitsuhiro Manwa, hear the story, they feel that the Tsukiko is making the whole think up and has experienced an emotional breakdown, since she had been under stress earlyer in the day.

But soon after, more reports come in. Each victim giving the same description of the attacker, a young boy with golden rollerblades, and a golden bat bent in the shape of a dogs leg, and has no connection to the victims of whatsoever.

Each of the victims share one thing in common. Before each attack they are in a state of depression, paranoia, fear, or personal anguish. Afterwards, all of their emotions seem to have been lifted off their shoulders.

Soon the detectives begin to wonder. Is this "Lil' Slugger' actually real? Or just some kind of phantom?
