Adam and Kristina have an overbooked schedule, and they're trying to fix
it. Crosby arrives to wash clothes, and Adam asks him where Jabbar is.
He answers "at the movie with Renee" (Jasmine's mom). Adam asks if he's
okay with that, and he is. Adam appears to be angry that Crosby is a dad
who doesn't have the kind of schedule that he does.
Joel asks Julia to put him in handcuffs for a magic trick, which is
unsuccessful. He's trying to make magic his habit for Sydney's hobby day.
Haddie reads her junior class president speech to Amber, and she gives
her feedback to try to generate interest.
Sarah watches her son and a girl studying together, and it looks like
she likes him. She goes in to 'help', and he sort of blows her off, so
she leaves. Drew tells the Holly that he's sorry his mom is a pain in
the ass, but she finds Sarah "kind of funny".
Suze and Kristina are power-walking. Suze is wondering where her life
went; it's become so boring! She figures Kristina will understand since
the same thing happened to her. She tells Kristina that 80% of marriages
with an autistic child end in divorce. Kristina goes home and reinstates
'date night' on Thursday. Adam fights her but she holds strong; Thursday
it is. He says they'll go to Pedro's, but she wants to dress up and
'connect'. He likes that word, and now he's looking forward to Thursday
night. Haddie can babysit.
Julia goes past Sydney's classroom and sees a REAL magician dad, so she
calls Joel to tell him he's going to need a new hobby.
Kristina asks Haddie if she can babysit for date night on Thursday, and
she says yes. She also apologizes to Kristina for yelling at her about
not needing her help, and told her she would appreciate her help. Her
speech sucks, and she doesn't know how to go about improving it.
Crosby gets completely wasted at the sound sampling, and then Renee
calls and asks him to pick up Jabbar, so he says yes. However, he knows
he's completely trashed, so Gabi gives him a ride to get Jabbar. They
see that Renee called her son and told him Crosby is drunk, so Seiko
came and picked him up. He and Crosby got into a verbal, then physical,
altercation.
Sarah runs into Mike accidentally on purpose. She tells him she had a
great time, and he asks her out, so she kisses him.
Joel asks Julia if maybe he should bring in home videos for hobby day.
They can't think of anything, because Joel says he's the most boring man
on the planet. They decide on toy rockets.
Crosby shows up to talk to Renee. He runs into Jasmine's brother, and
tells him who Gabi is and why she was driving him. Seiko tells him that
if he really wants to be a dad to Jabbar, he needs to understand he is
never off the clock.
Drew introduces Holly to Haddie, who wants Amber to look at her
rewritten speech. She's not home, so Sarah volunteers.
Adam asks Kristina to move it back one week, and she said sure. She then
told Adam about the 80% of parents with autistic children, and became
quite upset when he started to blow her off. He saw how much it was
affecting her, and said this Thursday is fine.
Drew can't find his phone, and Sarah has a boy/girl chat with him while
they look for it. He doesn't think Holly likes him but he's obviously
intrigued by the thought.
Crosby goes to talk to Adam, but Gabi already filled him in. He doesn't
know what to tell Jasmine, and Adam tells him to apologize. He insists
he didn't do anything wrong, and Adam informs him that is not the point.
He suggests Crosby stop going along with the custody plan, and go do
something about it.
Zeek helps Joel with the model rockets for hobby day at Sydney's class.
Joel finds a huge rocket, and Zeek wants him to take it. Joel realizes
that he doesn't have a hobby because he doesn't have a life. He goes off
on a bit of a tirade, and Zeek tells him he could light his own fart and
they'd think he was Einstein.
Crosby finds out Renee and Seiko are not the bad guys he's perceived
them to be. Renee has a little rant of her own, about how Jasmine has
been dragging Jabbar all over creation for as long as he's been alive
and no, actually; she is NOT okay with it. She and Crosby have a great
discussion about how he and Jasmine need to 'poop or get off the pot.'
Drew kisses Holly and he takes her completely unaware. She leaves,
because it's his house and he can't leave. He is so embarrassed.
The dad before Joel is a coin collector, and they even loved him. Joel
finally remembers his job is his hobby, and he comes in to talk about
woodworking.
Crosby swings through Adam and Kristina's to pick up his laundry. He
apologizes to Gabi, and she accepts. She also apologizes for telling
Kristina. He then asks her if he's half-assing his dad gig. She asks him
what he thinks, so he talks it out on the couch. It doesn't feel right
that Jabbar is living at his grandma's while Jasmine is in Europe. She
tells him he'd be a great full-time dad, for real. He thanks her.
Joel helps the kids paint all the wood he brought in, and they are
completely engrossed. The teacher is so happy with the results she wants
him to come back next week. One of the kids tells Sydney her dad is
awesome, and she agrees.
Haddie leaves because they are announcing the candidates at half-time,
and Kristina thinks they'll have to cancel but Adam calls his folks. As
they're being seated, they see Sarah and Mike, and they all eat
together, thus killing everybody's date night.
Sarah comes in in the morning and Drew leaves without saying goodbye.
She follows him and he tells her about the bad kiss with Holly. He yells
at her that he needs his dad, and she screwed that up for him. After
school she goes in Drew's room, and he's still not looking at or
speaking to her. She tells him about being asked out and then stood up.
Her dad told her boys are like buses. If you miss one, there's another
one coming. When she goes to leave, he apologizes for the dad crack, he
knows it wasn't Sarah's fault dad left, and he's sorry.
Jasmine returns early because she left the company. She missed her
family. Crosby is over the moon. Haddie won student council president,
so they are going to go celebrate at the Bravermans. Kristina says they
forgot the cake, so they go get it. Adam makes a decision not to go
back, and they kiss and go somewhere for some privacy. They sit on the
hood of their car, alone together, and have cake while Zeek sets off the
power rocket.
