Adam and Kristina are planning Max's bug birthday party. He sees a bug
vehicle pull up, and Max's face lights up. "It's here! It's here, and
it's AWESOME!" He runs outside. The driver asks Max not to touch his
vehicle. He's Andy Fitzgerald from Andy's Wonderful World of Bugs. Adam
notes to Kristina that it seems Andy has a bit of an attitude. They'll
have to pry Max off the vehicle to get him back inside.
Seth is at Braverman's, outside leaning against his car, picking up
Drew. He invites Amber to join them, but she passes. Sarah says she has
to work, so Zeek is in charge. Zeek tells Seth to have him home by 10,
since it's a school night. Seth says no problem. Sarah tries to reassure
both herself and Zeek that it's really good for Drew to see his dad.
Zeek's not so sure.
Crosby calls Jasmine, telling her it's stupid they're not together over
a dishwasher. Yes, he said a lot of mean things. That's what people do
when they fight. Jasmine won't let go, and Crosby says if he had any
idea everything he said was going to be used against him, he would have
had a lawyer there. Jasmine suggests he contact Julia then, as she hangs
up on him.
Andy goes over his expectations with the family. Everything he says, Max
backs. He goes to use the bathroom, and takes a shower. Max is happy to
hear it. Kristina and Adam are very perplexed.
Julia and Joel work on expanding their family. Or not. She's ovulating
in the next 48 hours, and she needs him to keep the gun loaded.
Kristina does some person-to-person research on Andy. The librarian
can't recommend him highly enough. She sees the skepticism on Kristina's
face and asks her if she knew that Andy has Asperger's. No, she did not.
The librarian can see why this might not work for Kristina, and
recommends she just do what she's comfortable doing.
Gabby and Max work on his homework together. He strongly feels he is
entitled to six stickers. Based on his age, Gabby tells him they are
weaning him off the stickers. That's why he only gets two. He can't
accept it, and he starts melting down. Crosby walks in on him calling
Gabby an idiot. He starts throwing the books around while he calls her
'useless'. Crosby tries to intervene as well as Gabby in telling him
that's enough, and he needs to calm down. He leaves in tornadic fashion,
destroying everything in his path.
Crosby asks if she's okay, and she says in a trembling voice that she's
used to it. Crosby doesn't buy it. That's not the kind of thing you can
get used to. She tries to change the subject to him doing laundry, but
he changes it back, offering to call Adam. She asks him not to. She
needs to go back upstairs. Crosby says he'll be here for the next two
hours if she needs anything.
Adam and Kristina try to understand how they could not see that Andy has
Asperger's. Kristina says she felt like a complete idiot when she heard.
They're just so used to Asperger's as it applies to kids. They really
don't know if they should still use him. But Kristina wonders if - what
if it happens to Max someday, somebody won't hire him because he has
Asperger's. They decide to go with their guts and not hire Andy.
Gabby and Crosby are out for drinks, chatting about her job and how
stressful it can be. She says sometimes it can feel incredibly
thankless. Crosby thinks it must be very isolating, as well. She asks if
they're talking about her personal life, now? Crosby says Gabby's not
lonely. That's impossible. Does she only interact with blind people? She
laughs, and turns the tables. What about Crosby. Why is he in the dog
house. Apparently, he's not supposed to be making any decisions. That's
what Crosby is gathering. Gabby puts on her therapist hat and asks him
how he feels about that. Crosby doesn't know. Maybe he shouldn't be
making any decisions. Why not? Well, he's smart, right? Crosby thinks
she has a very kind opinion of him. She's just being honest. She locks
on his eyes, then his mouth, then realizes what she's doing and giggles
a bit drunkenly. She calls it a night, and Crosby looks sad. They hug,
and it lasts several seconds.
Joel and Julia are baking together, but he can't stop staring at his
wife's butt. Everything is very sensual to him. she asks if he's okay
and Joel says "No, Julia. I'm making love to dough." She leans forward
to say she loves him, and now he's locked on her cleavage. He asks her
not to lean over. They only have 24 hours to go. She teases him about
making it worth his while.
Andy brings a present to Kristina to thank him for hiring her, a plush
cricket. He tells her that a thoughtful gift helps create repeat
business. Adam can't figure out why Andy is here. He says it's because
he always measures two days ahead. He looks a question at Kristina, and
she tells Adam she didn't call Andy to cancel.
Max, Kristina and Adam are in the backyard watching Andy. Adam notes he
doesn't look happy, while Kristina rocks and pats the plush cricket. Max
is scared, and confronts Andy. Is he doing the party? Andy says no. They
have no protection from the sun, and his bugs will fry. Max is much
relieved, and Kristina and Adam cheer a bit. Andy corrects Adam. "Way
too loud! I'm trying to work here." Andy goes in the house to take
measurements.
Crosby goes home. Jasmine asks what he's doing here. He tries to make
things right, but she refuses to bend. Just because they want to be
together, doesn't mean it's the right thing to do. She thinks they need
some time to figure out what he really wants. She wants to check
herself, and he should do the same. His eyes fill with tears, and he
tells her this scares him. Jasmine says "Me too."
Zeek and Seth finally talk. Zeek asks if he's sober, and Seth says yes.
Nine months. Zeek says he doesn't have to wait outside for Drew. He's
welcome to come in. Seth refuses. Zeek tells him it's good that he's
spending time with Drew. Seth points out that he and Zeek don't like
each other. So they should be civil when Drew is around, but the rest of
the time, they should just not talk. Zeek says alright. But he was just
trying to be hospitable. And there was an element of forgiveness in all
that.
Seth says Zeek is unbelievable. He doesn't change. It's always all about
Zeek. Seth mocks him. Zeek confronts him. Why does Seth find it
necessary to take something good, somebody trying to be compassionate,
and turn it into crap. Seth tells him that now he sounds like Sarah.
That was the wrong thing to say. Zeek tells him to never talk about
Sarah. He tells Seth, again, that it's good that he's seeing Drew. But
if he hurts him? Zeek will shove that guitar so far down his throat,
he'll be playing it with his tongue. Drew comes out just as Zeek shoves
Seth, hard. Neither of them will tell Drew what happened. Seth and Drew
leave.
At the batting cages, Drew again asks what's going on. Seth changes the
subject, asking where Drew is from. He's not like Sarah, and he's better
than Seth. He apologizes for not being a better man. He makes a slur at
Zeek about not liking being told he doesn't add up, even if he knows he
doesn't add up. He tries to tell the batting cage people that they're
ten minutes over, and they blow him off. Drew tries to downplay it, but
Seth goes in and uses a bat to indimidate them into leaving. He admits
it was over the top, but Drew says no. He also tells Seth he does add
up. Seriously.
Max, Adam and Haddie get the cupcakes ready while Kristina fields a
phone call from a parent. She checks in on Gabby and Crosby. Once they
are alone again, Crosby apologizes to Gabby for crossing the line with
the extended hug. She's sorry too. Crosby says he loves his girlfriend,
and she corrects him, since he's engaged to Jasmine. Plus, Gabby doesn't
want to mess up her job with the Bravermans.
Some idiot bullies Drew, and he punches him, and just keeps punching
him. Everybody cheers, and a teacher breaks it up.
Sarah, Julia and Kristina are testing the cupcakes. Joel calls, and
Kristina picks up her phone. What does he want? Does he want something?
Kristina says oh yes. Joel wants something. She can't say it. She's
nervous. She's sweating. Sarah looks and cheers, then laughs. Sarah
reads it to her (Julia, I can't stop thinking about your ass. What are
you wearing?) Sarah prepares to answer "I'm wearing a giant muumuu." She
finally gives up the phone, and Sarah's rings. It's the school, about
the fight.
When she arrives, Seth is there as well. Drew called him. The principal
informs them that if Drew ever fights again, a suspension will be the
end result. As they leave, Seth is all happy and "ATTABOY!" about Drew
fighting, while Sarah overreacts in the opposite direction. Drew tells
Sarah this isn't Seth's fault. Drew punched the guy. He's going home
with Seth. He'll meet Sarah at the house.
Crosby gets a call from Jasmine. She's taking Jabbar to the desert for a
few days, to visit her aunt. He won't be at Max's birthday. Her aunt
isn't doing well, and her mom's going to see her, and she wants to go
along and see her aunt. She hasn't seen him for a long time, so she's
bringing Jabbar. Crosby doesn't think that's fair, and Jasmine says "I
know. It's always about the Bravermans." Crosby can't figure out what's
going on, and Jasmine says she doesn't know either. She's not ready to
hash things out with him. She ends the call.
At the party, Crosby tells Gabby that Jabbar isn't actually sick and
explains what happened. She tells him she's sorry.
Kristina tries to deal with the guests, and their parents, requests and
expectations. Andy arrives, and Zeek lets him in. Adam explains to him
that Andy has Asperger's as well. Zeek thinks it's pretty cool. Joel
doesn't know either, and Zeek fills him in.
Julia talks to Joel - she's ovulating. Tonight's the night. Joel wonders
if right now can be the night.
Kristina wants to start the party 15 minutes early but Andy refuses.
Gabby offers to help try to reason with Andy. She is successful, and
Crosby is impressed. Gabby catches him staring, and asks if she has
something on her face. He tells her she rules, and she says he's pretty
cool himself.
Kristina walks in on Julia and Joel, and handles it pretty well. She
offers her bed, they take a pass, show over.
Adam introduces the Amazing Andy, with a great deal of cuing and
redirecting from Andy himself. Max is sitting front row center, having a
wonderful time. While Crosby is watching, Sarah messes with his neck and
freaks him out. Kristina and Adam really like Andy.
Joel and Julia come out and Kristina tells Adam what she walked in on.
Adam pays Andy and thanks him. He's glad Andy has a job he loves to do.
He asks Andy if he's happy, and Andy says yeah. Sometimes. Is Adam
happy? Yeah. Sometimes. Adam offers to help, but Andy refuses.
Crosby walks Gabby to her car. They banter a bit before saying good
night. Then she just stands there, smiling at Crosby.
Sarah sits on the back steps, and Seth walks up to her. He says "we have
great kids" and she says yes. He thanks her for not poisoning the well.
It would have been very easy to do. She tells him that he means a lot to
Drew. He asks if she still writes songs, now and then. She says no, and
Seth tells her she should. She was really good at it. Amber is watching.
She joins her mom. Sarah puts her arm around her, and Amber says I love
you. Sarah says it back.
Crosby and Gabby commence lovemaking.
