Do Not Sleep With Your Autistic Nephew's Therapist - Recap

<-- Previous EpisodeNext Episode -->
An apprehensive Crosby watches Gabby sleep before he puts on his hat and
leaves.

Adam comes home, ready to make his famous pancakes. Alex tells Max he'll
teach him something new, but he has to say hi to his dad first. Max
obliges. Adam is unamused. Alex has been there every morning this week,
and now it's Sunday. Family day. Pancake day. Kristina tries to placate
him. She said it was okay for Alex to be there because he's so good with
Max. Haddie senses the tension and joins her parents. She takes the bull
by the horns and asks Adam if he's upset that Alex is there. Since he
denies it, she suggest Adam invite Alex to his basketball game.

Haddie isn't the only one taking the bull by the horns. Amber wants to
know where Drew is. He went to breakfast with "that guy", how come he's
not here bonding with the family. He comes in while they're discussing
it, and all conversation ceases. Seth greets Camille by telling her she
looks beautiful. He tells Amber that Drew told him that she kicked ass
at open mic. She doesn't think so, since the audience was nothing but
Bravermans. He says Bravermans are tough critics, "trust me". He gives
her a guitar, and she accepts. Cool, thanks. She doesn't even open it.
Seth looks hurt. Sarah tells him she'll look at it later, and she's sure
she'll love it.

Sydney tells Julia and Joel she's a vegetarian. Joel tries to tell her
she needs meat. She learned from a schoolmate, and she's not eating meat
anymore.

Gabby and Kristina talk to Max about the new system. He doesn't like it.
Even if he does everything perfect, he still only earns the same amount
of TV time. Kristina tells Max he's going to be a great lawyer. A great
lawyer. Jasmine arrives and sets the record straight. She's sorry Jabbar
missed Max' birthday party. Kristina says no problem, he was sick.
Jasmine says he wasn't. It was because of what's going on between her
and Crosby. She downplays what's been happening between them. Issues,
cold feet, she claims not to know what the problem is. Gabby is
listening. Max draws her attention back, but she returns to see Kristina
hug Jasmine and tell her how much she loves her, and that she's family.
Max yells to get Gabby's attention again.

Crosby and Adam are on the court with Alex. Alex is opposite Adam.
Crosby asks Adam if he has menstrual cramps. Does he want his walker?
When they take a break, Adam asks Crosby if he could focus a little more
out there. Crosby retorts that he's not the one who got taken to school
by Alex. Adam changes the subject to Jasmine, telling Crosby that
Jasmine told Kristina. He just hates seeing Crosby throwing away the
very best thing that's happened to him in his life. Crosby says he could
use a little time out from Adam's judging him. Adam claims he's not, but
he is, and Crosby feels it. They start yelling at each other. Crosby
leaves.

Drew goes to talk to Amber, he asks her to stop being so rude to Dad.
She plays the old tapes. It was rude of Dad to leave. Drew says he's
trying. Amber doesn't want to hear it. The guitar is worth $42. She
knows this, because she looked it up, because she's going to sell it.
She doesn't want it in her house. Drew says she's pushing him away, and
that shuts them both up. She says he is going to leave. He'll leave
again, and Drew will get hurt.

Gabby comes to talk to Kristina and Adam. Something personal has come up
and she won't be able to work with Max anymore. She's really sorry, she
knows it's really sudden. Kristina wants to know what happened, and she
won't say. She asks them to forgive her, and leaves.

Jabbar answers the door for Crosby. They're going to the movies. Jasmine
greets him with a smile, and asks Crosby to stay for a minute, she made
coffee. She wants to talk now. The silence thing isn't doing anyone any
good. He'll call her and they'll set up a time to talk. She goes to kiss
Crosby and he brushes by.

Adam gets home, and it's a bit crazy there. Alex is over, and Max isn't
listening because Gabby is gone. Adam backs Kristina. The door rings,
and Haddie goes to answer it. Adam gets angry because Max is behaving
badly. Crosby was at the door, he wants to apologize for blowing up at
the basketball court. Adam tells him now's not good. Gabby quit.
Personal reasons. Crosby watches Max commence meltdown.

Crosby lands on Gabby's doorstep. She has to go back and fix it. Max
can't suffer because of what they did. He'll never forgive himself for
that. Gabby says they'll find someone else, but Crosby doesn't think so.
She needs to go back and say it was a mistake. She yells that she can't.
She likes him. He says "Well. We can't." She knows. He has tears in his
eyes.

Camille and Zeek arrive to babysit Sydney, bearing lasagna. Julia fills
them in on the "Sydney is a vegetarian" situation. Zeek laughs, saying
it's ridiculous. Julia says it's a valid choice, and they're being
supportive of it. She stands up to Zeek, too. Sydney is adamant about
'no meat'. Zeek tells her he ate dog in Viet Nam.

Sarah is beating the daylights out of some meat in the kitchen. Seth
arrives with Drew. Drew and Seth tease her gently, and she lets Seth
take over. They banter. Amber walks in and stops dead. She doesn't want
to join them. Drew tells her that Seth is taking him to Alcatraz on
Friday, and she loves Alcatraz, so she should come. She does a complete
180 and agrees. Seth asks about the guitar and she says oh, it's great.
The only thing is, it doesn't sound good. So he should take it back, or
she'll sell it. Sarah tries to correct her. She doesn't need to be rude.
Amber keeps going. Actually, she can't go to Alcatraz because she gets
sick on boats. Everybody that knows her, knows that.

Seth rounds the counter saying "Sweetheart" - Amber says stop calling me
that! You don't even know anything about me. She yells at him for some
time. She sees everybody buying his crap, but she doesn't. He wasn't
there for her when she really needed him. She looks at him and sees the
same loser that let her down so many times before.

Seth looks poleaxed, and leaves. Drew is so upset, he knocks everything
off the counter. He yells at Sarah for not protecting Seth.

Sydney doesn't like what she had for dinner. She says she'll just have
dessert. Zeek is about done with her. He tells her she can eat one of
the two meals that Camille made her. One or the other, or she's not
getting up from the table. She sits back and folds her arms, staring at
Zeek.

Seth arrives at the bar, ordering a pitcher of gin. He says Amber kicked
his ass, and Sarah says yeah, well; you deserved it. Seth notes that
Amber has Sarah's genes. He, of course, is leaving. Sweet deal on a gig
in Seattle. Alcatraz is backburnered. She's sure Drew will understand.
They're leaving in the morning, so they can get an early start. He wants
her to tell the kids. She says sure. He says he had a great time, and it
was good to see her. She cuts him off and goes back to work.

She follows him and it looks like she's going to follow in Amber's
footsteps. She's been blaming Seth for as long as she can remember.
She's tired of blaming. It's useless. It makes her powerless. But she
CAN blame him for going to Seattle without saying goodbye to his
children, and she will do so for years. Blaming him gets her off the
hook, and she doesn't want to be let off the hook. Not anymore. He needs
to be there tomorrow morning before they go to school, to say goodbye to
his children. He will be there. They leave at 8:00. Don't be late.

Jasmine finds Crosby drinking liquor straight from the bottle, on the
boat. She says it's really hard for her to apologize. She shouldn't have
kept Jabbar from that party. He doesn't want her apology. He was so
stupid. She's perplexed. What is he trying to say? He'd rather have the
conversation sober. She tells him to look at her, and he can't. He tells
her he made a mistake. She tells him not to lie to her, so he doesn't.
He spits it out. "I slept with someone." Now he can't stop talking. She
wants to know who it was. He won't tell her. He tries to hug her, and
she screams at him and shoves him away. She starts destroying the place
on her way out the door. He doesn't deserve anything good in his life.
Nothing. She'll never forgive him for this.

Julia asks Zeek how it went last night. Sydney told her that Zeek tried
to force her to eat meat. That's not how it happened, and Zeek fills
Julia in. She thinks Zeek undermined her as a parent. Camille fills in
the rest of the story. Nobody is trying to squelch anyone's spirit. She
wouldn't eat either meal they made her. It's backwards, and it's not
doing anyone any good to let Sydney have all the power.

Kristina is at Gabby's trying to get her to come back. She offers to
help Gabby figure out what's going on in her personal life. She really
can't lose her. Gabby has helped Max so much. She tells Kristina the
truth. She left the birthday party with Crosby the other night, and it
got complicated. Kristina is angry.

Seth talks to Drew and Amber. Drew says it sounds cool, Amber remains
silent. Seth says he had an amazing time, and Drew says he did too. Seth
tells him he's great, and he's proud of him. They hug. Amber starts to
apologize, but Seth stops her. Everything she said was true, and she had
every right to say it. She's beautiful, and maybe one day he'll be lucky
enough to hear her beautiful voice. Amber says "Guess we'll see, right?"

He finds Sarah on the stoop out back as he goes. He tells her he thought
about her all last night. All the things she hasn't gotten to do or that
she hasn't done yet, but it doesn't matter. She's the talent. She's like
magic. His best songs are the ones he wrote with her. They're the
deepest. He's just the guitar player. She's the artist. She shouldn't
get in the way of that. Sarah says she's glad he came. Seth says "Our
kids are beautiful, and that's all you. You do all that." He holds out
his hand to shake, and she hugs him, kissing his neck.

Zeek finds Camille doing laundry. He thanks her for backing him with
Julia. He touches her cheek, and puts his hands on her shoulders. "Thank
you." He tells her he's going to kiss her, and she says okay. They kiss
and she starts melting. In the laundry room. She slams the door shut.

Kristina tells Adam what Gabby told her.

Amber goes to talk to Drew. She apologizes for pushing dad away. She
didn't have to yell at him, or say those things. She should have
listened to Drew. Drew knows the truth, and shares it with Amber. If
Seth had been a real dad, nothing she did could have made him leave.
It's not her fault. She jokes "We'll always have mom" and they both
laugh. She tacks on "And we'll always have each other." She tells him
she learned the song dad played at the show. Does he want to hear it?
She plays it for him on the guitar Seth gave her.

Sarah is writing music again.

Seth looks heartbroken as he drives away.

Sarah looks pleased at what she's accomplished.

Adam says he's going over to Crosby's. He wants to go punch him in the
face. Sadly, he delivers. Crosby arrives, and Adam verbally attacks him.
Adam talks right over him, and yells. He doesn't hear anything Crosby
says until he ramps it up, too. "I know you lost your babysitter, but I
lost my fiancee and I may have lost my son". Adam yells back that Gabby
is not a babysitter. She's a behavioral therapist for Crosby's nephew
who has Asperger's - and that's how Max finds out the truth. He's on the
stairs, hearing the whole thing.

"I have Asperger's. .... What is Asperger's?"
