I Don't Want to Do This Without You - Recap

Kristina is very pregnant and just woke up. Adam is wide awake and having a great time being grossed out. He makes breakfast, still doesn't have a job. Alex shows up and it seems that they are all getting along great.

Julia and her husband are working on an adoption video and feels like she needs to add Lady Gaga to it. Sarah is turning 40 and people are making fun of her for it. Her father gives them a cane. Amber may have found a place. Crosby wakes up and takes trash out. Jasmine picks up Jabbar from his house.

Amber and Sarah go to look at the apartment and it is rundown, but she absolutely loves it. There's so much potential. Sarah hates it, but she's going to try to pretend she loves it. Alex and Haddie are in line and Alex doesn't remember lines being that long. Max accidentally puts that Alex is an alcoholic out there when Haddie is invited to a party. Alex said he'll go.

Adam is going stir crazy without having a job. He is bored and does all kinds of random things to pass the time. He does schedule an interview. Julia is at work and the coffee girl does her rotation. She is sarcastic and she learns that the girl is pregnant. She doesn't look too excited about her pregnancy.

Sarah gets a letter saying they are holding Amber's diploma for overdue library books. She wants to get it fixed. Amber doesn't care, because she still graduated anyway. She also says she took the apartment and will be moving in there at the end of the week. Sarah says she's not comfortable with her leaving so soon after going through such a hard time. Amber says she feels suffocated and needs space and that is simply the way it is.

Adam goes to his interview and learns that he will have to settle for a position that is less than glamorous and less than creative. Sarah goes to speak to the school, because she really just wants Amber's diploma but she doesn't make any difference. The books have been returned, but the system hasn't been updated. The teacher she went on a date with shows up and invites her for tea. She accepts and they leave.

Adam has lunch with Crosby and explains how he has to lower all standards of his professional life just to get a job at this point. Crosby tells him that he wants to go into business and buy a recording company with Adam. Adam tells him he needs a plan, Crosby says he's got it in fist bumps. Julia sees the pregnant girl again and she tells her that she just doesn't know what to tell people, because she's not keeping it.

Sarah and the teacher have a conversation about how the diploma became so important to her. Amber didn't care, so Sarah felt like she had to for her. He tells her that she just has to believe that Amber will go to college, she's just not ready right now. They end up having a moment and then they kiss. Alex decides to not go to the party, because Max is right. Haddie is not happy about that, but she accepts it.

Crosby and Jabbar are playing football and the waitress shows up to talk to him. He is uncomfortable and she feels a connection between them. She soon realizes that he's been “ignoring her” because he is a father. She introduces herself as his “special friend” to Jabbar. Adam is doing research about the record company idea, because he has to keep his mind busy. Kristina comes to tell him that she took a promotion, got hired full time, because they needed the money. Adam finally bursts, because it kills him that he can't be the one taking care of their family right now.

Sarah has her family birthday part and Haddie goes to the senior party. They are all drinking. The family party is fun and the kids have a special moment being able to feel the baby kick Kristina's stomach. Sarah tells Amber she is going to miss her. Alex looks for Haddie and finds her trashed. He wants to take her home so that she is safe, but loud and obnoxious teenagers argue with Alex and continue to give him issues even though he was trying to be logical and keep his cool. The one high school guy was being super aggressive and he ended up swinging on him. Alex is the only one that left in handcuffs.

Jasmine tells Crosby that she's started dating. Julia tells her husband about wanting to buy “lattes girl's baby”. Haddie calls Julia and she goes to get Alex. She bails him out and she tells him that the case is not really over yet, because the kid's parents want to press charges. She thinks he should be fine, because it was his first offense. He tells her that it isn't his first offense and begs her not to tell Haddie. She asks him to tell her about it.

Adam and Crosby go to see the studio, after their mom tell Sarah that teenagers just go to have fun sometimes. Adam was offered the job, but Crosby still wants to go with it. Sarah's teacher man brings her a present and it is Amber's diploma. He stole it for it. Romantic.
