Person of Interest

Person of Interest

You are being watched. The government has a secret system, a machine that spies on you every hour of every day. I know because I built it. I designed the Machine to detect acts of terror but it sees everything. Violent crimes involving ordinary people. People like you. Crimes the government considered “irrelevant.” They wouldn’t act so I decided I would. But I needed a partner. Someone with the skills to intervene. Hunted by the authorities, we work in secret. You’ll never find us. But victim or perpetrator, if your number is up, we’ll find you.

Person of Interest follows former CIA paramilitary operative, John Reese (Jim Caviezel), who is presumed dead and teams up with reclusive billionaire Finch (Michael Emerson) to prevent violent crimes in New York City by initiating their own type of justice. With the special training that Reese has had in Covert Operations and Finch's genius software inventing mind, the two are a perfect match for the job that they have to complete. With the help of surveillance equipment, they work "outside the law" and get the right criminal behind bars.

When Reese's skills are noticed by Carter (Taraji P. Henson), a NYPD detective, and Lionel Fusco (Kevin Chapman), a police officer who Reese uses to his advantage, they investigate the crimes together and find that the right person, information, and at the right time, is able to change everything. Creators J.J. Abrams and Bryan Burk (Lost) have done it a great service to unveil this action packed thriller to the networks.

Recaps
4x2: Nautilus recap: In the abandoned subway repair station, Finch is hooking up the third rail as a power source. He's interrupted by a text message inviting him to a late night snack. When Finch gets there, he discovers that Reese hasn't arrived yet. Reese finally calls to say that he had to cancel because of paperwork, and suggests that Finch ask the new Number to join him. The Number is Claire Mahoney, a sophomore college student from Ohio. She checked into the motel next to the diner two nights ago and just charged a meal there. Finch spots Claire, and complains to Reese that he didn't give him the secure phone network to deal with Numbers. However, Reese points out that Claire is a 4.0 math major and a chess grandmaster. However, in the last 48 hours she's broken into cars, trespassed, and bought a gun. Reese has to deal with the load paperwork that Fusco has dumped on him, and tells Finch that Sam is unavailable because she has a cover of her own to deal with. As they talk, Claire leaves the diner... read more.

4x1: Panopticon recap: A man, Novak, walks into a bar in Budapest and orders a double. A woman down the bar, Martine, eyes him and figures that it isn't good, and the man explains that his employers laid him off. He says that he's a journalist and asks her if she believes in a higher power. Intrigued, Martine sits with him and Novak says that an international stealth operation was conducted to buy up every company researching artificial intelligence. Novak figures that an AI has been created and is eliminating any possible competition. Now he figures that the AI is shutting down anybody who could reveal its existence. Martine leans forward and says that he must believe that the AI maneuvered him into that bar where the only security camera is inoperative. Novak looks up and realizes that the security camera is inoperative, and the bartender leaves when he gets an emergency text. Martine says that the world has changed and the journalist is only one of three people who have figured it out... and the other two will die in a traffic accident in Seattle in 14 minutes. She then takes out a gun and kills Novak, and walks out as Samaritan spots her on surveillance and confirms that her mission is complete... read more.
