During the morning announcements, Tanner can not read Phil's handwriting, and promptly becomes quite embarrassed in front of the school. The head of the news team notices he needs to improve his handwriting, and Phil gets sent back to a second grade class. In the class, he makes a friend, Crash, who turns out to be Tanner's brother. When Tanner finds a video that Crash took of Phil, he decides to put it on air in order to embarrass Phil. Also, Pim uses Debbie to cheat on a anatomy test. Shortly afterward, her conscience starts bothering her.

Episode Notes

In the year 2121, there is no need to write because everyone types on computers, which explains Phil's messy handwriting.

We learn that Miss Winston teaches the second grade, as well.

Episode Quotes

Miss Winston: A capital 'R' is a 'P' with a kickstand!

Crash: Remember last week at the zoo when the lamb licked your face and we had to buy you ice cream to get you to stop crying?

Tanner: (Reading Phil's cue card) The furball team gored with two ninnies on the crock.

Tanner: Diffy! Ya gonna make me look like a jerk again?!
Phil: Please! That's like trying to make Shaquille O'Neal look tall; he can do it on his own!

Crash: Mom says Tanner is a sensitive, easy crier.
Tanner: Not true! I have over-productive tear ducts!

Keely: Did you know they're thinking of painting the sidewalks? Tanner, what color would make walking more fun for you?

Episode Goofs

As evidenced by the clothes Phil is wearing, Tanner announces his special report the same day that Crash recorded his video. How did Tanner get ahold of the video so quickly?

When Pim's conscience shows up at the Diffy's front door, she disappears before Pim closes the door. However, Pim is still waving bye after the door is closed.

Cultural References

Debbie: We should call ourselves the A-Team!

This is a reference to The A-Team, which was a very popular show from the '80s.

Crash

Crash, a boy who walks around with a helmet on his head, was also a character on Disney's Pepper Ann, which premiered in 1997, making it possible that Phil of the Future stole the character from that show and used it in this one.
