After failing to make the cheerleading squad, Keely lies to her mother and says that she made it in order to protect her. Instead of telling her the truth, Phil, Keely, and Tia work together to convince Mandy Teslow that Keely is indeed a cheerleader.

Pim, fed up with Debbie's constantly positive attitude, sets out to find just one small thing that Debbie can't stand.

Episode Quotes

Keely: Actually.... I made it! Yeah. I'm a cheerleader.
Mandy Teslow: (screams) I knew it! Oh, darling, I'm so proud of you! Phil, you little pumpkin-head, get in this hug! Oh, this is the happiest day of my life!...

Mandy Teslow: After I retire from real estate, and you move out of the house, cheerleading will be the single most precious thing that gets me through the day.
Phil: You're kidding.
Keely and Mandy: No.

Tia: I'm cue ball! Don't knock me in!
Keely: I'm cue stick! I'm long and thin!
Phil: I'm cue-ter! I aim to win!

Episode Goofs

Should've Fixed It in Editing: When Pim confronts Debbie about hating raisins, she pushes her hair behind her ears. However, one lock of hair gets stuck on her earrings, and then keeps disappearing and reappearing from shot to shot.

Episode References

Debbie: One day, I hope to be an action news anchor!

In an ironic twist, season two would see Keely's interest in becoming a news anchor suddenly increase, while Debbie never expressed the wish again.

Debbie: (suddenly appearing behind Pim) I'm not a fraud, I'm a Capricorn! What's your sign?

This is the third episode in production order in which Pim has muttered evilly to herself after Debbie walked away, only to have her appear over her shoulder and respond to her musings to herself.
