Planet of the Apemen is a documentary series which takes a look against all the odds Homo sapiens survived when in the not-too-distant past, humans shared this planet with other species of hominid. .

This episode is set around thirty five thousand years ago and follows Homo sapiens's run in with Homo neanderthalensis. The Neanderthal stronghold in Europe weakened as the ice caps began to retreat which provided an opportunity to which modern humans today owe their very existence to.
