Point Pleasant, New Jersey is a small beach town that has had little or no turbulence from any events in its creation. When a young girl washes ashore on the beach, things in the town start to go for the worse. We learn that Christina (Elisabeth Harnois) is the name of the girl that came ashore with little knowledge of her past. She befriends the one who rescued her, Jessie (Samuel Page), and sees him as a love interest. After a small time, strange things start to happen on the inhabitants of the town and the residents start to grow weary.

Christina is befriended by a man named Boyd (Grant Show), who seemingly is out for her best interests, when he arrives in town. Drama begins to ensue as soon as these two come into contact since Boyd knows more about Christina than even she does. Boyd is out to carry out the plans that have been laid out for her to accomplish despite the consequences that have to be made in the process.

Point Pleasant was given heavy promotion on the FOX network as this was unveiled as a new supernatural drama for their network with an OC and Supernatural mix. Despite it being from an Executive Producer of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, the show did not gain a strong fan base with viewers in the ratings. It initially gained good ratings, but quickly fell to a 4th place finish; the show was barely able to compete with UPN's WWE Smackdown! on Thursday night. Point Pleasant would lose 45-50% of its lead in, and the series dropped Fox out its place in the 9:00 hour for the Network.

Despite rave reviews from critics and analysts, the series was canceled early in its run, leaving a few of the last episodes unaired on the United States broadcast. Later on in the United Kingdom, they aired the remaining episodes. The show received enough support from fans to be put on DVD which is now in stores today for Season one.
