Misty [S1-S5/S7], voiced by Rachael Lillis
Misty is the present Cerulean City Gym Leader, and Ash's closest friend. A strong, tempered, but caring girl, Misty is the youngest of several spoiled sisters, none of whom she can relate to. She also has a phobia of bug type Pokemon, but her courage and fearlessness ultimately overcomes such minor details, in particular when she aided Horsea in calming ferociously powerful Pokemon such as the Tentacruel
She ultimately also becomes a surrogate mother, carrying and caring for the Pokemon hatching Togepei for much of her journeys with Ash.
Misty was forced to depart when her sisters ultimately left the gym under her watch to go on vacation. She has remained in charge ever since, only visiting Ash once in the Hoen region to return Togepei to his rightful home.
It is implied that both Ash and Misty love one another and are fully aware of this, and have tried to maintain a strong long-distance relationship due to their paths as trainers and leaders. |
