Pokémon: Gettin' The Bug's Out

Ash and friends have delivered the GS Ball safely to Kurt and are heading to the Azalea Town Gym for the next badge. Misty thinks Ash will have a tough time with without Charizard but Ash is confident that Cyndaquil has the firepower he needs.The Azalea Gym is a large dome with a forest-like environment inside. Misty becomes nervous, then a Caterpie drops down in front of her and she freaks. A boy standing up on a tree branch says that this is in fact the Gym and that bug Pokemon are the best. Misty isn't thrilled. Ash introduces himself and the boy says he's Bugsy, the Gym leader.

Ash and co. are now walking towards the Azalea Gym now that the GS Ball has been delivered to Kurt. Misty acts as a news reporter and asks Ash if he has a prediction of his upcoming battle. Ash tells her that he plans on winning. Misty says that Ash doesn't have Charizard with him. In all his other battles, Charizard was there to help. Ash doesn't seem to mind because he has Cyndaquil to help him...

Ash uses Cyndaquil, Chikorita and Pikachu.
Bugsy uses Spinarak, Metapod and Scyther.
Ash uses Cyndaquil against Spinarak, but switches it out for Chikorita.
Ash's Chikorita knocks out Spinarak with a Sweet Scent then a Tackle.
Bugsy's Metapod knocks out Ash's Chikorita with a Tackle.
Ash's Pikachu knocks out Metapod with a Thunderbolt attack while holding onto Metapod.
Bugsy's Scyther knocks out Ash's Pikachu after a Double Team and a volley of Fury Cutter attacks.
Ash's Cyndaquil defeats Scyther with a Flamethrower from above while Scyther was using Swords Dance then using Tackle.

Ash and Misty each receive a Lure Ball.

Brock receives a Heavy Ball.

The effect of Metapod's Harden is different here than in previous episodes. Here, Metapod glows white, but both Ash's and Samurai's Metapods glowed sparkly green when using Harden.

This episode is the first time a Metapod in the anime has been seen using Tackle- or indeed, any move other than Harden.

Episode Goofs
At one point Ash says "I'll save Chikorita for later, and use Pikachu now." Chikorita had just been defeated - he meant to say Cyndaquil.
