Recap
Ash and co. continue their way towards Goldenrod City, but they have to make their way through a forest. Pikachu points to a birdhouse that's in a tree. Ash and co. wonder what Pokémon go there. Brock thinks the birdhouse may be too small for a Pidgey and Pidgeotto. Suddenly, a Pokémon flies up to the birdhouse. Ash and co. remain quiet so that they can watch it. Ash looks up the Pokémon in his Pokédex. It is a Noctowl. A tree branch begins to move, and it scares the Noctowl away. Suddenly, a different colored Noctowl approaches the birdhouse. This time a branch with berries approaches the Noctowl. The Noctowl kicks the branch away, and then it headbutts the tree. A man who has been in disguise falls from his hiding place. He is holding on a tree branch so that he doesn't fall. The Noctowl pecks at the man's hands, and he falls down...

In an airing on YTV in Canada, the scene where Ash calls out Cyndaquil and Totodile is run a second time by accident.
When Ash called Cyndaquil and Totodile out, he said Cyndaquil when he threw the lure ball and Totodile when he threw the regular pokeball. Totodile is supposed to be in the lure ball
Cultural References
The guy in this episode has simularities with Wile E. Coyote. Both use traps to catch a certain bird, but never catch it, and his hair looks like Wile's ears.
