Episode Notes
Who's That Pokémon: Pichu
Misty and Ash's unresolved battle from "The Water Flowers Of Cerulean City" is mentioned in this episode.
Togepi is used for the first time in a battle and uses Charm.
Totodile was captured in a Lure Ball
This is the first time we've seen one of Misty's Pokémon evolve. (Her Starmie doesn't count because it'd already evolved before she met Ash.)
The way the Totodile dances is very similiar to its animation in Pokemon Crystal.
Ash ends up with Totodile
Misty's Poliwag evolves into a Poliwhirl
This is the first appearance of the energetic dancing Totodile!
With this episode, Ash continues the tradition of having all three of the starter Pokemon for a particular region. In this case, the Pokemon are Chikorita (Grass), Cyndaquil (Fire), and Totodile (Water).
While Pikachu is now happy to battle against Misty's Pokémon in general, this is the second time that it refueses to battle against Misty as it does not want to fight Togepi.

Brock: Could you throw it back and try for a coffeemaker?
Misty: I came here for Pokémon! Not appliances!

Ash: As long as you're quiet, I don't care if we have to wait another two hours...
Episode Goofs
Misty goes on about her ambitions to learn everything about Water Pokémon for much longer in the dub. In the original, the scene with Water Pokémon scrolling past shows Misty praying to "The God of Water Pokémon" to help her achieve her goal.
Rather than make up a food item, the onigiri is referred to as a "delicious but non-nutritious snack treat".
