Recap

Ash and friends are now island-hopping on the way to Mossdeep City for Ash's seventh Gym Badge. Brock says that Maisie Island is ahead. Just then, Pikachu notices something in the water. It is a Spoink on a log. A huge wave knocks Spoink off the log and into the water. Ash tells the captain to stop the boat as May wonders if it is the same Spoink that kept losing its Pearl around Fortree City and Torkoal, who is out of its Pokéball, confirms that it is. Once reeled in with a life preserver, Spoink begins to bounce but trips and falls, sending its Pearl flying into the ocean. A red buoy is sitting nearby so Spoink tries putting that on its head. Ash quickly takes it off and tells Spoink that its not its Pearl. Torkoal begins to cry again then it decides to go look for Spoink's Pearl underwater. Ash quickly dives underwater to save the Fire Pokémon. After being rescued, Torkoal begins to cry again. Ash and Brock then send out Mudkip and Corphish to help look. After Mudkip and Corphish are underwater, Max asks Brock if Lombre could help but Lombre doesn't help. Instead, it begins to swim lazily. Mudkip and Corphish surface and report that they could not find the Pearl. The captain docks the boat on the island and Spoink begins its routine of placing round Pokémon on its head. Spoink takes a boy's Azurill first and the boy begins to cry. Brock takes away the Azurill and gives it back to the boy. Spoink also tries a Swablu, a Castform and a Wailmer. Then, a researcher comes up to them and introduces himself as Isaiah. Isaiah take everyone to a research center full of Clamperl. He explains that the Pearl on Spoink's head is made by a Clamperl. He then shows them a photograph of a Clamperl with a Pink Pearl inside of its shell. He then shows them a Blue Pearl inside a case which is really rare and valuable. Later, Ash, May, Max and Brock are searching for Spoink's Pearl when Spoink takes a girls Shroomish. May gives it back and apologizes. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is planning on stealing the Blue Pearl for the boss. Meowth comes up with wacky ideas to give Giovanni a ring with the Blue Pearl on it or a crown sporting the Blue Pearl. James tells him that his ideas haven't changed since the last time they tried to steal Spoink. They sneak in the window and lift up the glass surrounding the Blue Pearl. However, Spoink comes charging through the building and takes the Pearl before anyone can do anything about it. The alarm rings and everyone goes running. When Ash and the others arrive, they find Jessie and James in janitor outifts explaining to Isaiah how Spoink took the Pearl. They believe it and Team Rocket makes a clean getaway. Outside, Swellow and Beautifly are released to help search for Spoink. In the bushes, James complains about not getting to finish cleaning. Meowth comes up with another wacky idea: to give Giovanni Spoink to put on his head while it wears the Blue Pearl. In a large field of rocks, the kids from earlier, with the Shroomish and the Azurill come across Spoink again. They try to hide their Pokémon then notice that Spoink has a Pearl. The Blue Pearl flies off of its head and bounces through the rocks to a Clamperl who has a Pink Pearl. The Pearls switch and the Pink one lands on top of Spoink's head. Spoink then rushes off. Beautifly sees Spoink and reports back to the gang who come running to Spoink. Upon noticing that it doesn't have the Blue Pearl, they wonder where it is. The kids appear behind Spoink and tell them that Spoink's Blue Pearl got switched with the Pink one. Ash and friends race to the Clamperl and find the Blue Pearl. Spoink is about to trade the Pearls when Team Rocket arrives and steals Clamperl. No matter what they try, however, Clamperl won't open long enough for them to get the Pearl out. Meowth says that a stubborn Clamperl would be a bad present for the boss. With the help of Swellow, the gang finds Team Rocket and Grovyle and Spoink give Team Rocket's Pokémon quite a beating. To finish the battle, Clamperl uses a Water Gun and Team Rocket is sent blasting off again. Spoink trades the Pearls with Psychic and the Blue Pearl is returned to the research center. And as thanks for saving it, Clamperl gives Spoink its Pink Pearl.
