Recap
Ash and friends are still continuing their island-hopping adventure on the way to Mossdeep City. Brock tells the group that they are headed for a small group of islands called the A-B-C Islands. He continues by saying that they are heading for A Island because it is the only island with a Pokémon Center. A bunch of kid’s race by them riding on Huntail and Gorebyss. Ash looks Huntail up in his Pokédex while May looks up Gorebyss. Ash's Pokédex says that Huntail evolves from Clamperl and May's says that Gorebyss evolves from Clamperl. Brock explains that both Pokémon do evolve from Clamperl. Team Rocket is also heading for A Island but they end up getting stuck between rocks and breaking their sub again. At the Pokémon Center, Nurse Joy is about to help the gang when the video phone rings. A boy explains that his Corsola isn't feeling well and asks if Nurse Joy will take care of it. She says she will and has the boy send it through the transporter. Nurse Joy then explains that because there are no Pokémon Centers on Islands B and C, they set up teleporters there. Angry voices carry out from a nearby room and the gang goes to investigate. The kids that raced past the gang earlier are all together in a type of classroom. Nurse Joy, who appears to be a teacher, calms them down and says they're going to the pool for their next field trip. On the way to the pool, Nurse Joy explains that the people who live on B Island like Huntail better and the C Island residents like Gorebyss. They arrive at the pool and see a man with two Huntail and two Gorebyss swimming around him. He says he likes both Pokémon and then reveals himself to be Professor Birch. Birch climbs out of the pool and says that he is on the A-B-C Islands to research the evolutions of Clamperl. May asks what he's found out and Professor Birch says that Deepseateeth help evolve Clamperl into Huntail and Deepseascales help it evolve into Gorebyss. He says that he will research the facts that Huntail come from C Island only and Gorebyss only come from B Island. The gang asks if they can come and he says they can. The little girl, whose name is Elisabeth, that fell out of her pedal boat earlier offers to guide them as she is from B Island. They set out for B Island, not knowing that the boy, Keith is following in his pedal boat. In a specific cave on the island, Professor Birch takes a drink of the water, says it is full of minerals and takes a sample of it from the waterfall. Keith stumbles from around a corner and says that he is there researching his enemy: Gorebyss. They then head off to C Island. In a cave almost identical, Birch tastes the water again, says that it is different than the B Island water and takes a sample. This time, Elisabeth is caught spying. Back on A Island, Birch analyzes the samples and finds that traces of Deepseascale are in the water from B Island and traces of Deepseateeth are in C Island's water. The kids reveal that they both like the evolution of the opposite island and Birch asks to see their Clamperls. Out at the pool, they release them and Birch says that they are very healthy. Meanwhile, Team Rocket plans on stealing the Huntail and Gorebyss for the boss to water ski on. At the pool, Team Rocket arrives in their Magikarp sub, comes out and says their motto. Ash sends out Corphish and orders a Crabhammer on Jessie's Seviper, who is also out. Cacnea hugs James and releases the Poison Sting that James orders without letting go. Water Guns from both Clamperl smack Cacnea and Seviper back to the sub where everyone is blasted off with a Thunderbolt from Pikachu. Back on C Island, Keith finds a Deepseascale and gives it to Elisabeth, who wants a Gorebyss instead of Huntail from her own island. She gives it to her Clamperl so it will evolve yet nothing happens. Birch suggests that she send it back to the Pokémon Center. She does so from the cabin and the group heads to B Island. This time, Elisabeth finds the evolution item, the Deepseatooth, and gives it to Keith, who wants a Huntail. He gives it to his Clamperl and sends it to the Center. Back on A Island, the kids release their Clamperls who both begin to evolve. They take their newly evolved Pokémon out to the pool to swim and find that Team Rocket is back, this time with a huge Kingler robot. This time, Ash releases Grovyle, who pounds the robot with Bullet Seed but to no avail. An Ice Beam from Huntail and Gorebyss and a Thunderbolt from Pikachu, later, Team Rocket is "blasting off again!" That night, Ash and friends board the ferry that will take them closer to Mossdeep City. From the docks, Nurse Joy and Birch wave as the ferry speeds away. And Elisabeth and Keith wave from their new Pokémon, Huntail and Gorebyss.
