Episode Notes
Pokémon Debuts: Gabite
The special is based off of the Nintendo DS games Pokémon Mystery Dungeon Explorers of Time, and Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Darkness.
Unlike the first Mystery Dungeon special which aired to promote the first set of games, this special aired 4½ months later as part of Cartoon Network's Labor Day Pokémon-A-Thon.
Comparison with the game
Team Poké-PalsThe Time Gear Grovyle steals is actually the second one he steals in the game.
The opening scenes at the beach and at the guild are very similar to the game.
However, the part where Chimchar's stone gets stolen by Koffing and Zubat is omitted.
The visions do not start so early in the game.
The guild does not take items given as payment, though it does take 90% of money received.
The Japanese Pokémon Mystery Dungeon 2 website revealed a code that allows players to obtain a mission that is similar to the special, with Gabite being the boss of the dungeon.
The music used in the special, like the previous special, are similar to the game.
Sunflora does not join your team in the games
Oddly this special managed to appear first in parts of Europe before the United States. A similar incident happened with the Pokémon Chronicles series.
