The show was created by Simon Fuller, who is a record producer.

Even though the judges picked who should make it through from the auditions it was down to the public to decide who should be eliminated each week.

| How were the songs chosen?
Each week during the finals of the series the singers had to chose a song from a different theme selected by the judges. The performers are then helped by vocal coaches John and CeCe.

Both series were hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly.
| Where there age limits for the contestants?
All of the hopefuls had to be between the ages of 16 and 25.
